BEAST! How did that not go in?! What a free-kick!
Now we’re starting to see all our luck dry up.

7th January 2019 at 9:42 pm #31031Fully deserved and a big Well Done to Wolves.
A big scalp.
Not much really to shout about. Curtis Jones okay, impressed a bit, but I wonder what depth do we actually have outside our first 11. Another injury, this time on Lovren.
Under Klopp we don’t have a good record as far as domestic cup competitions go and now a 3rd round exit. Can’t really afford an early exit in the Champions League.
This just shows Klopp being here 3/4 years is not enough for a proper top to toe building job. Academy players or players coming though need more game time or have to shine in the reserves.
Gotta put this one to bed and be ready for our next game.

7th January 2019 at 9:43 pm #31033That summarizer in the commentary box sounded like Danny Mills and if it is him, he really does not anything positive to say about Liverpool.

7th January 2019 at 9:45 pm #31034That free-kick by Shaqiri almost mirrored John Barnes’ against Portsmouth – needed a Ronnie Whelan to tap that in, ha!

7th January 2019 at 9:59 pm #31037AnonymousWe’ve sold both Ings and Solanke. If Klopp thinks Sturridge and Origi are up for any real part in a title challenge then he’s got another thing coming. We’ve Salah and Firmino, depending on formation and that’s that.
Sturridge needs to have his contract cancelled at this stage. He scored a wonderful goal against Chelsea that paid for a few weeks of his contract but he really doesn’t want to work for his place at all. I’d keep Origi as outside back-up for now, I guess. His goal against everton showed that he can be up for it.
Keita isnt working out. I don’t think he has a future at the club. fabinho is the polar opposite.
I’m hapopy that we got to rest players but I’d like to have seen Klopp put out a team capable of a performance. I’d like to have seen some fight from the lads who were given a chance. Is it because they know they wont get another besides domestic cups? Maybe Klopp needs to consider this because they were thoroughly unmotivated.
There is a reason why but ultimately it doesn’t matter because they must be, if they want to remain here.
I am honestly disapointed that I wasted my time to watch that. I had other things to do and put Liverpool first, like always.
Not good enough Klopp. Not good enough either for anyone on that pitch, bar a few.

7th January 2019 at 10:20 pm #31039I’m happy on the whole for players to be rested, but I felt Klopp tonight over did it.
Naturally with pre-season on top, we play in excess of 50 Top Flight Competitive games.
But if you take and example from the 90s and Man United, although Fergie threw kids in, he’d keep at least a little bit of the spine and blend the selection with figureheads or experience like a Bruce or a Irwin.
Maybe out of Allison and Van Dijk, one if not two of these guys should have featured. Mignolet is Mignolet and will never excel to anything better whilst he’s still on our books.
Who have these kids on the pitch as far as the defence good have to look up to or lean on for support? James Milner can’t do it all on his own, and Keita himself of late is showing he needs support.
Sturridge and Origi are no newbies and they really should be doing more to fight for their place. Okay Origi hit the back of the net, but he doesn’t generally offer or pose a threat.
How can all these players be rested? Henderson, Lallana? Ideally this should have been a game for Oxlaid but he’s still on recovery. A lot of our defenders injured too. Rarely I’m critical of Klopp, but I have to say to a degree, he’s at fault with his team selection and has evidently tonight, paid the price.

8th January 2019 at 3:13 am #31042Anonymous“Klopp put all his eggs into winning the PL and the CL. Only time will tell whether he was right to do that.”
I know it wasn’t a question Nine but I will answer it as if it were and tell you that I think Klopp has made the right decision and that time is irrelevant in the matter. Whether we win the PL or the CL won’t absolutely come down to his decision to rest people for this game but it will improve our chances. Lovren picked up a hamstring injury tonight. We’ll never know if someone else had such a typically fatigue based injury in store for them tonight, had they played. We haven’t assured that anyone will play better in the next game because of being rested but we’ve given them a better chance.
it’s a matter of improving your odds, not assuring yourself of anything, which is why it’s such a difficult decision in the first place. All of that aside, I’d like to have seen us do better tonight. Maybe it’s the fact that some of the guys put in by Klopp tonight just didn’t do it (or even close), or if he shouldn’t have rested so many? It doesn’t matter now.
I didn’t want to go out tonight but I back Klopp in having the balls to prioritize. We have a much much better squad than before but it’s still absolutely NOTHING on City’s. I’m ok with this and am already thinking about our next PL match. I’ve little doubt that Klopp and the lads are also.

8th January 2019 at 7:03 am #31044City with yet another incredibly kind cup draw. They’ve been very fortunate in the CL and both cups with their draws but you can only beat what’s in front of you. Wouldn’t at all be surprised to see them sweep up at least 3 trophies this season.

8th January 2019 at 7:27 am #31049Man Iβve been banging on about quality in depth for ages & whilst others were talking of winning stuff after our great start I always knew over the course of a full season we would not be able to maintain the rage so to speak. 2 losses in a row, admittedly 1 with a severely weakened squad but mark my words mate, c$ty WILL win the EPL,probably the FA cup & C/L to go with it. This is just how it is. Theyβve built a squad spending insane money over numerous seasons & are streets ahead of everyone else. Some saying Liverpool spend big as well but weβve done it a couple of times & are still miles behind c$ty.
Watch his space folks, Iβll say I told you so later ?_____________________________

Well yeah, it’s always going to easy to critise with the benefit of hindsight. In my opinion with the squad we have and the opportunity we have in the league he made the right decision. If we fall short I’m not going to point the finger at him and say we should of focused on the cup. No one knows what will happen in the future (except Oz in his depressing world of City dominance!), or what could of happened if this happened or he did that etc.

8th January 2019 at 8:39 am #31053“I didnβt want to go out tonight but I back Klopp in having the balls to proritize” I think we were both singing from the same hymn sheet Mak.
Normal service will I’m sure be resumed on Saturday and going out of the FA Cup might be an advantage in Liverpool’s challenge for the PL title.

8th January 2019 at 10:07 am #31054Although not an excuse as such, could have done with one these games at Anfield.
Another away game and Brighton will be tough.
Not many teams have won at the Amex.
I didn’t realise also that last night, Fabinho was classed as a centre back for us – maybe I’m wrong. ??
