Nil and nineninenine, hope you’re both well chaps. Interesting final yesterday, for me Arsenal were marginally more deserving on the day. Arteta has done a decent job so far.

2nd August 2020 at 9:13 am #139482Welcome on board Dandy. Long time no speak. Leeds are finally back in the big time π
Arteta had definitely improved Arsenal with more belief in themselves and not really panicking when they are a goal down.

2nd August 2020 at 9:48 am #139506Moos, unfortunately officials make mistakes I really wouldn’t put it at more than that.
Chelsea didn’t play to their potential but that aside everything went against Chelsea yesterday and the Pulisic injury and the ridiculous Kovacic sending off did Arsenal a huge favour.
I think Pulisic would have probably scored bar the injury.
I thought Frank should have taken Kovacic off at ht as I fully expected something like what happened to happen.
There’s plenty to be cheerful about though and imagine a front 3 of Pulasuc, Werner and Ziyech with their pace.
Unfortunately not the end to the season we wanted but given all the circumstances a very good first season for Frank.

2nd August 2020 at 11:35 am #139576Yes Moos, the commentators even identified who they reckon should have been refereeing the match instead. That would be a first. The spectacle was dominated by the referee, yellow cards. a red card and mistakes. Surely VAR can be used to reverse 2nd yellow/red cards the same as it can be used to upgrade from yellow to red. That was never a 2nd yellow.

2nd August 2020 at 11:47 am #139585Oh and whats more, Pulisic doesn’t tear the hammy I reckon he scores that goal and we are back in control. So unlucky. Still, Arsenal did enough to win, so be it.

2nd August 2020 at 1:04 pm #139638AnonymousI only saw the result just now, had forgotten about it. Just thought I’d pop on to say congrats to Steveo and any other Arsenal fans. This cup win comes at a difficult time for you as fans. Whether or not it’s a sign of things to come, it’s a pretty cool thing to win, especially against a team like City. Congrats.

2nd August 2020 at 2:40 pm #139699AnonymousCorrection, Chelsea not City!
Commiserations Chelsea lads.
Well, now the boring wait for football to return and all the nonsense transfer links to put up with.
Will the cup win make it easier for arsenal to sign players? I think so, as the question marks over arsenal were pretty large. This should go someway to signalling that they could be a worthy project to join, or stay with, in Aubameyangs case.

2nd August 2020 at 4:17 pm #139759A lot of huff and puff but little guile, nobody orchestrating anything but Arsenal wanted it just that little more than Chelsea. The Referee was poor, in fact very poor and somewhat unfair on his judgements. The players partly to blame who were falling down too easy as well, it takes up time though and that is part of the game these days. I did not think it was a red card offence but somehow, it improved Chelsea. They certainly lacked Willian and Kante Arsenal are improving, no doubt about that but do need somebody to control midfield

2nd August 2020 at 4:44 pm #139779Not a great fan of this ref but in general I think he has been ok this season even if he is a Utd supporter. He has been very fair for City games.
Yesterday he made some poor decisions.I still dont know the rule where a foul starts outside the area but continues in to the area. Anybody know for sure?
The red card was wrong but VAR does not intervene, as it should, over a second yellow. The Arsenal player had been taking lessons (sorry Ed) from Bruno F.

2nd August 2020 at 8:48 pm #139925AnonymousThere were many serious errors by that ref yesterday wouldn’t even know where to start, Twitter is killing him the normal death threats and all. However the FA is to blame appointing a serial bad official to ref the FA cup final.

2nd August 2020 at 8:55 pm #139931A bit late to the party, I would like to pass my congratulatory message to Steveo and Arsenal, they had been fantastic and deserved to win or at least have done enough to win. and while I would say Anthony Tyler was terrible, I would also point our terrible performance especially defensively. and I have to say we lost the midfield battle early and that was the turning point. with Arsenal pace on the counter, it was always hard. our only shining light was Pulisic and when he left we missed him.
Frank would have brought Kante on regardless of the cost. at least he would have tightened our midfield and won it back. also, we badly missed Willian as Aubamenyang run riot against James and Zouma. Willian would have forced him back a little bit in that flank by putting pressure on the wing-back.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to next season. this season has been fantastic and with Werner and Ziyech and a left-back and a CB plus keeper, we will be competitive again. Frank has done a marvellous job this season. and I’m happy even though we lost the FA Cup.

3rd August 2020 at 10:38 am #140379Just saw the read… oh dear… but what can you expect? Mickey Arty has been hanging out with Sterling & Co., and it’s not as though “Same Old Arsenal, Always Cheating” FC don’t have history, is it?
If it wasn’t the Russian Money Boyz falling victim, I’d almost be upset!! π

3rd August 2020 at 12:40 pm #140436Come on Buffy, us football fans and also those who support the Goon Show are a fickle bunch. We all strain our necks looking the other way when it’s one of our own fine young gentlemen who were very obviously fouled hence why they fell over with a broken leg that can only be healed with the magic sponge, yet have eyes which would make the most eagle-eyed of action men jealous when those disgusting cheating deceitful underhand unethical immoral dishonourable douche-bags that generally populate the opposition have the nerve to break the spirit of the game… maybe one day, the fine gentlemen from the Hotspurs of Tottenham will master the dark arts to such a degree that not only would he-who-cant-be-named would be jealous, but also fans of other clubs would create a song in our honour…
