It’s not just about the team Poch selected though v Palace last week he came out with Spurs history is in black and white and now we have domestic Cups are just about egos.
I’m not sure that’s how most Spurs fans see it especially as Spurs haven’t been in an FA Cup Final for 28 years and last won the League Cup 11 years ago and the FA Cup played an important part in their history.
Mind you all will be forgiven if Poch wins the Champions League.?

28th January 2019 at 1:20 pm #32271Spurs history is in black and white though… you’re not going to find many Spud-lovers arguing against that point, I’m certainly not.
Right now, we’re on the cusp of something considerably decent, especially when compared to anything since about 1984. Sure, we’re had a couple of cup runs, even a couple of actual cups during that time, but we’re never been at this stage, competing at the right end of the table consistently like we have down for the last 3/4 years. We know we’re not going to spend 200/300 million in a transfer window (and I’m not trying to troll here, just stating a facht!), so we have to build a little slower, we have to gamble to a degree with youngsters/mid-priced players. We don’t have the “history” to attract players, so we have to make do with some of the best training facilities and a spanking new shiny stadium, and staying in the TOP4/Champions League is far more important to the clubs growth than the 2 domestic Cups. Considering the injuries we currently have, I have no problem with our Wee Viking not playing yesterday, he gets injured and we are completely screwed!!
Still say it was more the players who let Poncho down yesterday, that team was good enough to beat Palace and without those 3 brain-farts, would have beaten Palace.
But we didn’t… π

28th January 2019 at 1:25 pm #32272That black and white history should have demonstrated to Poch how important the FA Cup was in Spurs history.
Other than moving into the new Stadium I’m not sure Spurs are on the cusp of anything else apart from possibly losing some of their top players which may not be the end of the world as it would perhaps give Pochettino a significant sum of money to invest on players which if he invested wisely might start a whole new process for Spurs.
Most Spurs fans expected the current team/ squad to carry them to trophies and I really fancied Spurs to win a Cup this season but Spurs still remain as far away from winning a trophy as they ever where and I can see this current Spurs team beginning to break up.
Eriksen currently won’t commit and enters the last year of his contract soon and without Spurs can reassure him about real investment in the team I can see him possibly moving on and I’m not sure he will be the only one.

28th January 2019 at 1:28 pm #32275Considering some of the players Poncho has signed, not 100% sure giving him a huge wedge is a good idea…
He’s spotted some good ones, but also a fair few “average” players too, scouting players is not he’s “best” quality!

28th January 2019 at 1:30 pm #32277Nine, can you actually give an example of when reinvesting money from selling your top players has actually worked? Surely *keeping* your top players is the only way you can move upwards?

28th January 2019 at 1:34 pm #32278AnonymousTo balance the Poch comments De Gea has said that a good set of results under Ole means nothing if they don’t win a trophy.

28th January 2019 at 1:58 pm #32290Nine, and Liverpool have actually struggled to replace that Coutinho figure in the team this season and have missed that link man from midfield to attack, so thereβs an argument weβre now a bit weaker in that area. So even though the defence has improved itβs never quite so black and white to say everything is now better for it. Indeed a lot of my belief that we could do it this year was based on Keita hitting the ground running. But that hasnβt happened because itβs very difficult to immediately replace quality like for like.

28th January 2019 at 7:33 pm #32300AnonymousHow come the Ed is giving Spurs crap over our managers decisions in team selection considering this happened:
The title holders Manchester United, withdrew from the 1999β2000 competition due to their participation in the 2000 FIFA Club World Championship in South America, to take place in early 2000, thus becoming the first FA Cup winners not to defend their title.
That’s your holier than thou club Ed happy now ???_____________________________

28th January 2019 at 7:47 pm #32304TBA, to be fair United were between a rock and a hard place.
“Martin Edwards announces United’s decision to sit out the FA Cup
The Old Trafford giants have defied opposition from supporters by agreeing to skip the competition so they can take part in the inaugural World Team Championship.United chairman Martin Edwards said the club had “no alternative” but to accept the offer for one year only.
Kevin Bocquet: “The club says that players can’t play 80 games in the season”
He added that the decision had been made “in the national interest”.The FA wants United to play in the new tournament in Brazil next January – because they believe it could aid England’s 2006 World Cup bid.”
Your old school Spurs tba I can believe you’re happy with what Poch said.
