It looks like to me Ragnick’s got the right balance with the 2 sort of defensive to attacking midfielders. Fred can’t be alone and McTominay’s the right player to support him. BBC showing this as a 4-5-1.

10th January 2022 at 9:21 pm #193212United were better under Ole.
Villa should be two or three up.
Once again Oliver showing what a crazy referee he is_____________________________

10th January 2022 at 9:31 pm #193214They’ve not really had much of a bounce under Rangnick. But I don’t think he’s that kind of manager in terms of lifting a dressing room. Can imagine him being more like a school teacher with the players. And if all this is a build up to appointing Poch, I’d feel pretty underwhelmed. Man Utd quite simply need a winner.

10th January 2022 at 9:38 pm #193215Too many changes I think; Managers, tactics, formations, style. Players probably don’t know what day of the week it is. I read an observation of Rangnick wanting to widen the pitch, yet he’s supposedly playing a 4-2-2-2, but then it reads as a 4-5-1.
What’s happened to Fernandes’ goals? Nothing from Rashford. Can’t see many picking these for their FPL teams. Somebody new then comes in the summer and then it’s changes yet again.

10th January 2022 at 9:43 pm #193217Rangnick. I don’t think so.
United have been second best here.
Understand fans can’t be happy.

10th January 2022 at 9:47 pm #193218This is ruining the game. Not even interfering with the actual play.

10th January 2022 at 10:10 pm #193219Adlab, how are you picking Varane out of that lot as a problem? He’s struggled for a bit of consistency because of injuries but he’s an excellent CB. Of all the players you could point a finger at, he should be the last one. Absolute class act.
Well we’re stumbling to the end of the season here. As Mikus says, and as I said before Ralf came in, we were never going to get that classic instant lift under someone like him. He’s not a motivator. He’s a slow builder. Someone who needs full control. So, in many ways, an odd choice as interim.
Hoping he’s just keeping the seat warm for Ten Hag.

10th January 2022 at 10:15 pm #193220Honestly don’t know what match you were watching Adlab. Utd were shite but Varane average? Give your head a wobble! Utd fans are probably the harshest critics of their own team and pretty much all in agreement that he was the best player on the park.
Varane has shown his class tonight

Just how good was this man tonight? π€©π₯ @raphaelvarane pic.twitter.com/E3dPfok3iR

Varane was absurdly good in that isolation. He delayed, waited for the double team and then closed off the space. So good.

Signing Raphael Varane is the only positive thing about this season thus far.

10th January 2022 at 10:38 pm #193221Good game. Villa looked the better side but utd got the result so FairPlay.

10th January 2022 at 11:04 pm #193222Wow Ed…Must have been watching a different game. Maybe he was OK by comparison, perhaps.
I just felt Utd defence were at sixes and sevens for much of the game.
To be perfectly honest, although it’s early days I can’t see there has been any improvement under Rangnick. I get the feeling that the players are not happy with the system of play. Fernandes doesn’t seem to know where to play and for me he is your best player. The back four are far to flat.
Still early days. π΄_____________________________

11th January 2022 at 5:43 am #193224No I agree with most of what you say about Utd under Rangnick Adlab.just don’t know how anyone can call Varane average. You don’t win what he’s won if you’re not a great defender. It depends what you look for in a CB also. If what you’re looking for is lunging recovery tackles where he sends the attacker down to the ground in a crunching tackle, that’s just not his game. It’s reading the game, positioning, sending the attacker the way he wants. He’s such a clever defender if you watch him closely.

11th January 2022 at 6:18 am #193226That’s the thing Chucky. It really is open season on attacking Utd players at the moment. Pundits and rival fans having a field day and rightly so. Still looking around wondering where this supposed Utd loving media are π.
But all that said, how anyone could pick Varane out of that lot to have a go at was what surprised me. We’re so poor at the moment though.

11th January 2022 at 7:43 am #193230You look at what conte done at spurs since he came in. He had a clear plan ij his formation tactics etc. he had a certain way of playing which he drilling into the players. you could see that after two games. They are 8 unbeaten in the league and clear progress is being made
You look at utd after 5 games under ragnick and itβs all over the place. No clear way of playing and chopping and changing of formations constantly.
Itβs early days but I can see none of ragnick tactics he goes on about in utds play.
People say itβs the players so if poch comes in he will need to get rid of the team.
It really is all over the place but they are scraping wins while listing terrible. That was poor last night. Radhford looks either severely disinterested or his confidence is low. At least ferndes is running. Heβs trying to get the team going.
