8th January 2022 at 11:36 am #193083Adlab, the Man United Team in the 90s I’m sure in the much earlier rounds would have a mixture of youth and irregular first team starters mixed with experience, maybe playing Giggsy.
What’s presented, maybe through no fault of anyone is the plethora of Manchester City talent and wealth.
I had a glance on Soccerbase, and over the last 3 years to me shows spending outweighing any revenue generated through player sales. There are at least 3 Β£60 million pound signings. Nobody has batted an eyelid.
Adlab, no bitterness from me mate, but more of a waking up and smelling the coffee and a ‘what’s going on here’ realization. Sooner or later the penny drops.

8th January 2022 at 11:54 am #193085You’re not wrong, Adders, and the move to dodgy businessmen into dodgy sovereign states is just a step too far for me… but like you say, it’s badly out of control…

8th January 2022 at 11:54 am #193086What an absolute pity the fa cup is the way it is. Used to be such a big competition.
Why is it like this? Id love to win the fa cup? Itβs all about money I think. League placement much more important . When did it really decline? When utd refused to play in it didnβt help but itβs all about money. Cl and league much more important

8th January 2022 at 12:08 pm #193087Sean, I was watching yesterday when they showed Cup Upsets. Wrexham – Arsenal definitely up there. Can’t believe that’s 30 years.
Liverpool losing to Wimbledon and Aldridge’s penalty saved in 88. Broke my heart as I though we were destined for the double.
Some magic has been lost. Games all over the place now to accommodate tv broadcasting, but clubs need the money. Like you say mate, money talks. We need the 3pm kickoff for a final on a Saturday. I feel the younger generation are disconnected and don’t have the same level of understanding and realization as we were growing up.

8th January 2022 at 12:09 pm #193088Still think there should be a rule so the “lower” ranked team always gets home advantage… that should make it all a bit more interesting, a few more “upsets” etc…

8th January 2022 at 12:29 pm #193089Let’s see how many Premier League teams play their strongest available team against weaker opposition?

8th January 2022 at 12:43 pm #193090When I was a kid we played the FA Cup Final every day in the park in the school holidays it was the trophy I most wanted Chelsea to win sadly the riches of the PL and the lure of CL has undermined the great old trophy. Personally I still love it.
Whatever the result of the lunchtime ko I hope all the Palace fans get home safely Millwall away in 1995 was the most frightening day of my Chelsea supporting life both in the Stadium and trying to get back to my car.

8th January 2022 at 12:53 pm #193092Adlab, that’s the whole point. They don’t have the luxury to pick and choose. Many have inflicted covid and many are dealing with injuries.

8th January 2022 at 12:56 pm #193093Question.
If a player is suspended for matches 1, 2 and 3 but then say match 3 is postponed does that count as one of the three matches or do you have to miss match 4?_____________________________

8th January 2022 at 12:58 pm #193094Nine, faced a hostile environment at Filbert Street back in 1994 when there were protests for the then CEO Barrie Pierpoint to resign. Villa were the opposition and Brian Little had returned after resigning to become their boss. Not an FA Cup Tie, but boy it was a frightening experience being a young lad back then.

8th January 2022 at 1:09 pm #193096West Ham away could be frightening Nil but this was at a whole new level Millwall fans were fighting the Police even those on horseback to get at Chelsea fans in the Stadium fortunately I wore no colours but getting from the ground to the Car was one long skirmish I breathed a long sigh of relief when I got to my car.π

8th January 2022 at 1:13 pm #193099Been to Milwall once. The racist language was indescribable. Their bald tattooed fans outside constantly looking for a fight. My experience…disgusting place.
