6th January 2023 at 11:42 am #202362PPT, That’s essentially what’s unique about this competition. I’m surprised this has never been ‘modified’ by anybody and left as it is.
There’s still that flame of old and the magic. If the PL Teams apply the right attitude and give it the competition the respect it deserves, it’s a joyful journey for everyone, especially being able to take part as a player.

6th January 2023 at 12:48 pm #202366Frank just might muddle his way through. Not completely defending his run of form and record, but the problems at Everton are obviously deeper and an Evertonian I know has said the fans really bonded to him last season. So I knew he would get some time this season. Obviously needs a response over next few games after the Brighton game.

6th January 2023 at 6:37 pm #202371Nil you are right about the fa Cup mate.
As much as leagues and champs leagues are bigger, I have never been happier than when chelsea won fa Cup in 97.
There was a movie once with Russell crowe, can’t remember the name of the film for the life of me, but in it, a low league semi pro hockey team got to play against new York rangers and the whole premise of the movie was David vs goliath and how amazing the concept is.
Here we don’t need Hollywood movies to make it up, we see happen for real and get to witness some of the most surreal sporting matches in any sport. We also see the occasional giant killing and most of the time you couldn’t write it.
I would drop league Cup tomorrow but the FA Cup is special and should carry on as it is for as long as there is football.

6th January 2023 at 7:34 pm #202375Easy win for United tonight. Just a couple of weeks ago we drew 1-1. To get that Everton had 10 men in defence for most of the game, had one shot on target and scored. That doesn’t happen often. Look what Brighton did to them
My prediction 3-0 and an easy win._____________________________

7th January 2023 at 9:38 am #202382Seems like the players are really fighting for Lamps and I believe he is wanted there inspite of the recent bad results.

7th January 2023 at 12:50 pm #202384Starting to like this Bryan Gil guy. He’s got movement about him and gets into spaces. This takes the pressure off Son to try and be a playmaker all the time.

7th January 2023 at 1:24 pm #202385Not the most exciting 45, Portsmouth obviously just sitting back and hoping for a break…
Have to agree Nil, Gil is starting to look something like the hype that came with him. Still a long way to go mind you, but I’d keep him for the rest of the season.

7th January 2023 at 2:23 pm #202386Not the most entertaining 90 minutes of football, but a win is a win is a win, and we’re still in the hat.

7th January 2023 at 5:50 pm #202388On the subject of replays, I would have to disagree with my beloved Jurgen Klopp. If we place ourselves into the facet of the FA Cup and what it’s about, it’s not just financial gain for the club, but for players and fans, it’s a ‘one a lifetime’ dream and to be able to create memories. Materials/Tangibles is never going to give you that sense of happiness.
