I think that one falls under ” To dream the impossible dream” but it’s an understandable dream.

9th August 2019 at 2:43 pm #44863You can never say never to anything Chuckster but such a strategy could have a dramatic influence on gates and football is a game that needs to be played in front of a passionate crowd certainly at the highest level.
I can’t see the Club’s ever agreeing to it imo.
No point in building big shiney new Stadiums and not bring able to fill them because fans can watch every home and away game without leaving home from the comfort of their armchairs.

9th August 2019 at 2:50 pm #44865Thing is puppy, grounds are still full-out when they’re on TV, so I really don’t see why clubs showing their own games on the interweb or TV themselves would make a great deal of difference.
Absolute worst case scenario in your comment above, would be yes, the grounds suddenly get empty, so clubs would most likely reduce prices to fill them up again (which would actually be a win for the match going fan)… and most likely scenario would be the ground fill up anyway.
As we’ve already discussed on here, us and others, you can watch every game now via streaming/cable (legal or otherwise) etc.. and that’s not really effecting attendance now.

9th August 2019 at 2:54 pm #44866If clubs made seats more affordable, then maybe some out there would be encouraged to make the effort.

9th August 2019 at 2:58 pm #44867Silly-Willy-Nilly… problem there, cyber chum, would be to say when was the last time you saw an empty stadium? And those that are vaguely empty are because the Season ticket holders couldn’t be arsed and the clubs still count them as being there anyway.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I haven’t seen a sniff of anything suggesting clubs are struggling to fill up the stadiums at the prices they’re charging already. Hell would freeze over, Spuds would win a trophy, and I would get Emilia Clarke’s phone number before prices go down!! 🙂

9th August 2019 at 3:17 pm #44868Chuckster, but that’s not every game every week though on TV.
Most of the big Clubs attendances are driven by Season ticket sales if the same games were available every week on TV probably for a lot less than their season tickets which are circa £700 to over £1,000 on average for the top teams ( then there’s the costs of getting to the ground and food and drink costs to add to that) then they might well stay at home and watch games from the comfort of their Armchairs.
Can’t see it personally and those that already moan about Sky and BT subscriptions probably wouldn’t want to pay the kind of subscriptions required for such a service too.
But you can never say never other than it can’t be until the 2022/23 season.?

9th August 2019 at 3:22 pm #44869…..is circa £40 to watch Liverpool from the Kop too expensive it will cost you nearly £30 to watch Bristol City and a lot more for a half decent seat at the Theatre in Bristol.

9th August 2019 at 5:03 pm #44878£37 to sit in the Kop to watch the European Champions sounds like a bit of a bargain to me.

9th August 2019 at 6:29 pm #44880Couldn’t agree more Nine. The unfortunate reality however involves a small matter of accessibility. Very little chance in this day and age of ‘pick and pay’ and tickets like that very rarely go on general sale.
If they can find a way and employ a system where a man-of-the-street can buy on a first-come-first-serve basis, then I’d be game.
