Oz,
Whether or not City at the moment are dominant financially and on the field, one certainty is that it doesn’t last forever. Personally too, if Pep doesn’t win the Champions League anytime soon, then there is pressure on him.
There is one aspect of this Man City squad as Nine has rightly pointed out being that there are players on the other side of their Prime. Not every dependant player in their squad is fully fit. It’s natural for them to have a big squad and bring in reinforcements.
But that should not put off Liverpool or any other club for that matter in trying to compete and put up a fight against them. This may sound ridiculous, but the clearance from Kyle Walker on Sunday struck a chord with me thinking we’re getting extremely close to breaking down their barrier.
Our head-to-head meetings are going to be of high value and definitive, possibly to how the table shapes and once again, the end result could be decided from a very fine margin.
Surely based on everything we delivered last season, we have to give ourselves a chance to go again, but just that one better?
If we strap-line ourselves in the parameters adopting a mentality that there’s nothing to knock Man City off their mantelpiece, then we may as well throw in the towel now.

6th August 2019 at 8:17 pm #44597Alas Nine, I unfortunately agree. We are on a current now of which we canβt paddle ourselves out of. I at least hope some more affordable TV legal streaming services come about.

6th August 2019 at 8:21 pm #44598It will be interesting to see what Sky do regarding illegal streaming by Sky customers, the only thing they can do is cancel their contracts meaning they then go to a competitor and illegally stream there…..Pagan

6th August 2019 at 8:32 pm #44599People I’ve come across are open to buying ‘devices’ like Firesticks and are ditching Sky. I have it as ‘default’ at home along with broadband and on a relatively decent deal. But that doesn’t necessary mean I have to place Sky on some kind of a Pedestal.
So-called ‘illegal’ streaming has gone on for nearly a decade and it’s spreading more and more.
As far as the Legal side goes, there’s options like day or month passes where you’re not tied to any sort of a contract.

6th August 2019 at 8:41 pm #44600Mr. Balance, Iβm no tech expert so do you need broadband for firesticks? If so then the major companies Sky/Virgin/BT are still getting revenue off you. Itβs not in their interest to ban you using their service as it just pushes you to one of the competitors…Pagan

6th August 2019 at 8:49 pm #44601Mr Pagan, there are different companies outside Sky that can supply Broadband. Some households out there have a ‘mix and match’, and basically, what works for them.
You’re right in a sense that Sky would take a bit of a back seat and a relaxed approach because some people out there for example keep a Sky Box, have the very basic package, then just buy themselves either a Firestick or some kind of a ‘dodgy’ box.

6th August 2019 at 9:07 pm #44605What is illegal streaming? … In short, if you are streaming and watching – for free – films, TV shows or sport that should be paid for (or that are not legally available in the UK), then you are streaming illegally.

6th August 2019 at 9:08 pm #44606Sky do now offer, via NOW TV, a mobile streaming service for some of their some sports channels including football for Β£5.99 a month, which is something. That probably accounts for a good chunk of the new customers that Nine mentions above. But obviously if people can still find ways to stream for free (and on bigger screens) theyβll continue to do so.

6th August 2019 at 9:16 pm #44607The likes of virgin, sky and other isps will be throttling all connections when the football season starts. This is to combat illegal streaming
Bt is not available to virgin customers in Ireland. It is to sky customers
You can use all kinds of applications and hardware to stream.
You can install a VPN which hides your IP
Address.Sky have a great package in Ireland that includes Saturday 3 o clock kick off on premier sports.BT and sky sports. Unfortunately Iβm in a contract with virgin but will be switching to sky. I watch a lot of football so it money well spent for me. Iβd rather spent the mo ye then depend on a website or whatever that will be caught eventually. When caught they just buy another domain and go again but it seems the police and service providers are really trying to crack down on illegal streaming

6th August 2019 at 9:23 pm #44608Sean, some guys were jailed in Newcastle for 4 years re Kodi boxes.
It’s a bit like me going to McDonald’s and paying for my meal whilst others are going to the back door of McDonald’s and stealing their meals for nothing.

6th August 2019 at 9:27 pm #44610Iβve no problem with people who it. Itβs going through the internet and there are to be buffering and lags etc
Iβd rather pay for it if I had the option bit sky deals are to dear. Some households simply canβt afford it do they stream. Iβve absolutely no problem with that

6th August 2019 at 9:28 pm #44611The Now TV is a good option to get value for money for a regular football watcher. I recently bought a Stick to watch Catch up TV. There’s a fair few out on the market the such as Now TV, Chromecast, and Amazon as an alternative to Set Top Boxes.
Obviously there are secondary Freeview boxes too, but the above have an emphasis on video games and music. There are ones for example that are designed for 4k TV’s which works well for people into their movies.
It’s essentially ‘food on the go’ interface with Apps and no long-term subscriptions to be tied to.
Personally, I’ve changed in habits and interests, and can’t see myself watching every single Televised game just for the sake of it. I’d only most probably watch Liverpool and Man City. Saying that though, I am keen on seeing how Sheffield United evolve in the Prem.
The point being is that there’s no point in me shelling out on a season subscription – especially from SKY, so I get why other alternatives work better for different people.

6th August 2019 at 9:31 pm #44612The providers canβt throttle the speed for the end user, they guarantee a speed and have to deliver that. How could you watch Sky go if they did that. All they can do is go for the ones that are providing the stream…..Pagan

6th August 2019 at 9:36 pm #44614On a little more serious note, and I don’t by the way advocate or excuse any form of ‘dodgy’ streaming, but perhaps this reflects at the moment on the households, the times we are living in and Austerity.
More and more people for example now shop in Lidl than your so-called mainstream Supermarkets like Sainsburys where your food shop is quite dear.

6th August 2019 at 9:40 pm #44616If you go back to the 80s we had the home taping is killing music campaign. The big bands have got round the illegal downloading problem now. In the 80s bands charged quite a lot for albums but toured at a loss at times to promote the said albums. They made their money on album sales, now they make their big money by touring. Not sure how the TV companies are going to make their money but the clubs have followed the bands by fleecing the fans who want to watch the games in the flesh….Pagan

6th August 2019 at 10:02 pm #44618Mr Pagan, around that time, we were dealing with a different scale of a problem.
Where there was imprisonment sanctioned on somebody would have been those found guilty on selling or producing multiple copies of VHS’s (with intent to allow hiring). The same on Cassettes and CD’s. Even though a lot of this was for home pleasure, Music and Video sales pre-internet were booming.
The Internet and the Streaming available effectively killed this once upon a time market. I’d guess that for Artists, their income now is better served securing a Tour and delivering live performances.
