Fine margins once again. Hats off to Walker. That was sheer bravery.

4th August 2019 at 4:58 pm #44404I think we can safely say a game of two halves.
Waiting for pens!_____________________________

4th August 2019 at 5:00 pm #44405I’m liking the return of Gomez. Matip, Gomez and Van Dijk collectively is solid.

4th August 2019 at 5:01 pm #44406Should have brought Aguero on for 5 mins to take a pen?
Again a poor standard of refereeing for both sides. In the old days it used to be shared.

4th August 2019 at 5:12 pm #44409The fact that we lost by 1 pen in the shootout, 1 point in the league last season, the 2 goal-line clearances, and 11 millimetres last season sums up these two teams are almost in-separable like 2 Magnets.
Credit and Congrats to Man City. Proud of our second half performance, fight and almost getting over the finishing line.
I really hope the Title Race will be between both these teams.
Roll on Friday!

4th August 2019 at 5:15 pm #44410Adlab, they used to share it that’s right.
Obviously it would have been nice from an LFC point of view to win a Wembley final as it’s not been achieved for a while, but Pens are a lottery and we came close.
Very good camaraderie between both sets of Managers and I’m confident the race will be close again, this season.

4th August 2019 at 5:51 pm #44412Good game. Could have gone either way. Didn’t tell us anything we didn’t know both teams will almost certainly be fighting out for the title between now and the end of the season.

4th August 2019 at 7:17 pm #44413AnonymousHonestly, I thought we were going to get smashed but we were all over City in the 2nd half. I’m surprised Salah played, never mind for the entire match. That 90 mins will do him the world of good.
Our lads were a lot fitter than I expected, with some really good performances from some of them. I’m really pleased with things overall. It’s pretty incredible that we didn’t score a few more but that goal line clearance at the end was just amazing.
Agree Nine, I think the title likely goes down to City and Liverpool again but maybe it won’t be as ridiculous this time. The others will have plans to shake it up and a bit and you never know, it might not go how we all think.
All in all, this match was much needed preparation for Norwich. The international tournaments are really going to hurt us in the early (and perhaps latter) part of the season. This competitive match will give the lads a bit of much needed sharpness.
I’m a lot more confident that we can start well, after seeing this match.

4th August 2019 at 7:42 pm #44414A decent game of football. Liverpool appeared to treat it like a friendly in the first half as we did for most of the second.
Glad Raheem scored to shut the boo girls up. And showed his class at the end, going over to the Liverpool fans, gave his shirt away, signed autographs and had some photos taken._____________________________

4th August 2019 at 7:47 pm #44415Mav, I think you’ll find that Man City with their 125th anniversary have a longer history than United having been founded in 1894 which beats United being founded by some 8 years.?

4th August 2019 at 8:45 pm #44427Didn’t go, as only got back from hols yesterday, I know it’s a poor excuse but we went when we played Arsenal. But not last year as away. Dont have BT sport either so couldn’t watch it either. All that aside seemed like a good game. Bravo MOTM by some accounts. Glad for Raheem. Saw online that Gundog looked well off the pace.

4th August 2019 at 11:03 pm #44430I can only make judgement from an armchair supporters POV, and to me, both sets sat in their own segregated areas were fine, although Liverpool turned up the volume and were vocal in Wembley once the equalizer went in which was great to watch and listen to.
So it seems a minority on the tube you’d imagine under the influence have simply been idiotic. They shouldn’t be any ‘rivalry’ as such. Even if it was Man United, there’s no excuse for such behaviour. We don’t know the full facts though. Were they for example a cluster coming straight out of Wembley?
I can only suggest simply having more Policing in place. Pathetic really for a bunch of grown men, but this is where we’re at. Most importantly, we have to think about the safety of others.

4th August 2019 at 11:12 pm #44431Albeit his Spot-kick, how did Salah not find the net today? Ironically, he looked full of energy and sharp with real poise. Like the League, we narrowly missed the opportunity to win it first hand.
I hope based on the level of games coming up, Klopp will utilize players like Lallana, Ox, Keita and Shaqs. It gives us something fresh and different. We’ve used Origi of late a lot for example, so it would be nice to see a change.
Just seen the highlights and we were caught out by a very soft goal. Their tactics I note haven’t changed against us. They seemingly have this incline to try and score in 6 yard area behind the last man; either from a wide area or central. They’ll usually try and thread through a ball or play it over the top.
Lots of encouragement to take though from the game. Friday, we go again.

4th August 2019 at 11:28 pm #44433Wouldโve been good to get an early trophy & whilst disappointed we didnโt do it Iโm not overly upset. Im reading a lot of people on different sites already predicting a 2 horse race with Liverpool & c$ty, I think thatโs crazy before a ball has been kicked in the EPL.
Firstly our top 3 have had F all rest & as the season drags on I fully expect them to miss quite a few games between them. People have short memories, we were 9 or so ahead before Christmas las season & some were saying it was just a case of how many we will win the EPL by. We havenโt strengthened at all & whilst I donโt expect us to go backwards I donโt think we will only lose 1 game like last season & cant see us pushing c$ty till the final game.
Also some must be forgetting spurs, they have strengthened, kept an already good squad pretty much intact & are quietly going about their business. I still canโt see them topping the money bags but we will certainly be in a battle to maintain our top 2 position again._____________________________
