I keep thinking how much better Chelsea’s season could have been had they managed to convince Cavani to join them the irony is that he might well have come had Tuchel been the Chelsea Manager then.

Cavani has still got it and looks such a threat.

United much better in the second half and I still think they’ll win it eventually.

Mike, DDG is awful at penalties. To be fair, there were some brilliant pens but he’s just not imposing enough for them. I think that could be his last moment in a Utd shirt which would be a shame.

It’s a lot easier to defend than attack Ed. Villarreal didn’t do much to win it but agree that Utd didn’t play well. Sloppy passing for much of the game. You still did a lot more than Villarreal to try and win it though.

Absolutely Mikus. Didn’t help that we conceded a silly set piece goal again. It’s really been our achilles health’s season. That just allowed them to continue to sit back and defend.

Ah well. I maintain that Ole is not the man but he’s done enough in terms of the league progress to earn another chance to prove the likes of myself wrong.

Yeah you may be right Ed, he’s been on the slide for several seasons now but he’s been a good servant for the club. There was talk as to whether or not he’d even play tonight. To be fair to him though the ten outfield players had 2 hours to find the net before the PK’s. Commiserations.

Selfishly I’m a little sad there definitely won’t be a derby in the Supercup final.

I think utd lost momentum when they lost to
Leicester and have been pretty poor since.

That’s a final they shoujd be winning all day long but they’re big players didn’t turn up. Huge opportunity missed but well done villareal

It’s a good point Sean, Utd had nothing to really play for in the last few games of the league season and then it’s hard to swing back into your groove thereafter. Similarly, the CL final between us and Spurs was an awful game because there was a 3 week gap between the game and the end of the season and both teams struggled to get back into their groove.

Must admit I was surprised United did not have that many chances and also amazing that so many penalties could be scored which proves there’s no excuse for missing a penalty. You can’t really expect a keeper to also score a penalty if his not a regular penalty taker. As for Solskjaer he will always be thereabouts but does not have enough to lift United to the highest level. Conte is available but his a bit too temperamental and does not hang around too long.
