Group stages were good like last world cup but knockout rounds have been dreadful.
I find france extremely boring.
Threeps, austria have been excellent

Think the refs have been, on the main part, really good. VAR has been used so much better too.
But strange in the Austria v Turkey match that the ref would not allow the Austria goalie to stand in front of the Turkish goalie at the end at a corner. Good to see the players just got on with it though.

What more does Southgate want,in comparison to other major nations he had an easy group, an easy run in right through to the semifinals and final, lots of individual talent available throughout the squad, Europes top striker, great backup coaching team, lots of fans backing, great staduims and fields to play on. I expect England to go on and win this Euros, they probably may never have a better chance .

Rover, southgate had always had an easy route since 2018. Who apart from france in 2022 and italy in euro finals have they faced? They have been so lucky with the draw.
4 games in and they have againest absolutely average nations. Southgate has got so lucky recently. So many easy games yet england are a shit team
Lets be honest, they are bad. No invention and so negative. They have some excellent players but its just garbage. Be a travesty if they win it. Horrible to watch.

Agree with your assessment of England Sean but they are not the only fancied team to underperform.
France have looked just as slow as England but also find themselves in the quarters. Belgium played like a lower division team trying a giant killing in the fa cup, The Dutch have struggled.
Only Spain and to a slightly lesser extent Germany have looked fluid and exciting from the favorites, and lucky for everyone else they meet on Friday.
The only others that’s impressed are the more unfancied like Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia and Slovakia (not seen Turkey yet, weirdly last nights game wasn’t on free tv over here). And that’s down to good coaching.

Big quarter final up first with probably the best two teams Germany and Spain. Shame this isn’t the final to be honest. Think Spain have playing better thus far but I have to support the Germans.
Here’s hoping the tournament really takes off entertainment wise!

I liked Spain’s winner in the way it way delivered. I’m not sure what’s happening so far with France; the guy on the right hand side for example just aimlessly crosses the ball into the path of a cluster of Portugal players. Lol, he’s playing into the zone but nobody actually there to meet it π Pointless!

Good Vibes; we’re through and the Pens look self assured. The scary bit is being reactive to being a goal down; perhaps flipping that to a 1-0 early lead and holding on to that render a turn around from the opposition.
