These Matches are important to us to set us for Next Summer’s Tournament.
Let’s hope it’s not centred around individuals and their Profiles, but focused purely on the Team.
*****3 LIONS*****

Great finish by you know who – Harry Kane π
Well deserved goal to be fair as we have been playing well.

7th September 2019 at 5:47 pm #4717445 minutes of all mouth and no trousers football, Engerlannd very lucky to have the lead, and despite having the lions share of possession (see what I did there?), Uncle Bulgaria and his team of Wombles created the better chances and with better finishing, could have had a goal or two. Good job their rubbish, because Engerlannd’s dedense looks rubbish…

7th September 2019 at 6:03 pm #47180A little bit surprised, Old Skool Carol, especially when we didn’t really seem to have a long term back-up plan to replace him. Admittedly, he did have a car crash of a season compared to the season before, but he wasn’t the only player in a Spud shirt to go backwards a little bit last season either. Good luck to him, seems to have hit the ground running in Spain, perhaps the slightly slower pace of Spanish footy give him that little extra time and extra touch to whip in those crosses like we all know he can do…

7th September 2019 at 6:09 pm #47184As discussed in the Micky O. thread, don’t have a lot of sympathy for a multi-millionaire who was “forced” to move to sunny Madrid to continue kicking a ball about for a living… as surprises go, I can think of a lot worse!! π

7th September 2019 at 7:49 pm #47188My take on the match. We need to be much better than this performance. We lacked any ideas in midfield and did not move the ball forward enough. The second goal was not a penalty imo but that is the way it goes. Bulgaria did not offer much but should have gone in front earlier. Impressed with Mason Mount, Pickford did well although I am not a fan of his, even Kane admitted the first half was a poor performance. Too many half hearted performances for me, like a training ground match

7th September 2019 at 8:26 pm #47190Generally feel positive about the outcome. In my humblest of views, it is what it is. Analysis and critique will set in, but those sat in the Studio will do that.
Gareth Southgate summed it up nicely being that we had our moments, and maybe a case of not too read too much – of course, it’s let off lightly if nothing bad has come out of the defensive errors, etc.
We are gradual in the way we come about our business. It’s slow development, not something rampant.
Our Results speak Volumes. We’ve got players too in Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling that are really taking OWNERSHIP of their positions and they are PERFORMING so HUGE CREDIT to them.
Bring On Tuesday π

8th September 2019 at 9:12 am #47200Is it not the same old story? England cruise through qualifiers with ease then get found out in the big tournaments?
Itβs very very boring and the sane thing all the time

8th September 2019 at 10:20 am #47201Exactly right Sean, they have the easiest group they probably could of got and will walk it. The fans expectations will be whipped into a frenzy by the tabloids with promise that In-ger-Land will be bringing football home whilst limping meekly out of the tournament when faced with any reasonably decent team.
Same thing every time…

8th September 2019 at 10:27 am #47202On a par with Joe Root and his Merry Batsmen, excluding Stokes.

8th September 2019 at 11:06 am #47205Blame the Media.
In the past, no doubt there have been prima-donnas and the ‘Wag’ culture. Southgate is pure football, down-to-earth professional human being. A simple guy.
Yesterday, the media try to make something big out of Harry Kane taking penalties. He works hard and practices. There is nothing more to it.
It’s the Media that build England by dialling them up high, only to immediately bring them down, the moment there is adversity.
They did this years ago I can remember with Botham when it came to Cricket.

8th September 2019 at 11:15 am #47206442, I think it’s likely to be a monthly thing as the Euro Tournament is Next Summer, so qualifiers etc need to be played out and done and dusted.
I get it though. The interruptions suck!
