999.. Difference between Maguire and VVD, one actually went on to become an even better player and developed other areas of his game, Sadly, that hasn’t happened to England’s number one center back. Do wish it would though as its a bit sad reading about his dip in form cause he is a very decent player.

16th October 2020 at 10:36 am #168447Ed-Lukaku the best striker in the league?Better than Kane? 1st thing first:
the best striker in the league is-PEA!
2nd-Lukaku plays in the mickey-mouse league, where even Nil during one of his hangovers would score goals for fun.
Serie A is a nursing home league, hence geriatrics like A.Young still cutting it fine with ease._____________________________

16th October 2020 at 11:53 am #168448442, it wasn’t my intention to compare VVD and Maguire as players I was just suggesting that the VVD fee set the bar and was probably a contributory factor to the price Leicester put on Maguire’s head.
My point on Maguire was that I don’t think it’s helping him currently to be playing for England because his personal problems and playing in the current United 5 man defence shorn of confidence isn’t helping his own confidence.
I agree with you though Maguire is a very decent player, he’s the best Centre Back England have and it’s tough watching him suffer like he is.

16th October 2020 at 11:58 am #168449“Tonightβs game was full of emotion, desire and hunger. Proud to have made my full senior debut in such a testing game,β he said.
βI take full responsibility for the red card after the final whistle. Moments like this will make me stronger, Iβll continue to put in 100% day in day out to keep improving!”
The right attitude from Reece James who was probably MOM on his full England debut.

16th October 2020 at 12:47 pm #168450Maverick yes I’d pick Lukaku over PEA easily. Say what you want about the league being weak but his recent record of goals for Belgium is just incredible. I can’t find it anywhere but it’s something like 35 in his last 30 Belgium games.
Maguire definitely needs dropping to allow him to recover some form. Playing so badly at the moment.

16th October 2020 at 4:41 pm #168455Mav – there’s not too many sides in the Prem that wouldn’t have Lukaku in their team at the moment, and i include Spurs in that (at least I would if Jose wasn’t their manager as he doesn’t like him).
PEA ‘best striker in the league’…mmm, not so sure on current form (which is what all strikers are rated on). Mane, Calvert lewin, Ings, Maupay even, Watkins even?? PEA ia a class player, no doubt, but I’d have Lukaku ahead of him at the moment…and don’t knock Serie A so much, I bet there’s still a few defenders around in that league!!

16th October 2020 at 5:46 pm #168456Anonymous999… think its a genuinely interesting comparison. A little time out the spotlight will probably do him good.
PEA… Yeah, one of the best in the league. Id take Kane, him and Lukaku in a front three… π
