999-Sorry dude but that is complete nonsense imho.Pep winning the PL or Klopp eventually winning the CL are 2 very different things.Klopp lost Coutinho but Pep spent hundreds of millions of £££! If Liverpool were to win the CL this year,Klopp ahead of Pep easy.Plus,Klopps Liverpool tore City to shreds in the process!

24th April 2018 at 9:46 am #20886I used to say Pep has only managed teams with the most money so he should win pretty much everything. That was until I watched a video on youtube about the tactics Klopp used against c$ty in the games we played them this season. It was awesome to see the game of chess being played between the 2. It showed how Klopp successfully used the press in a way to cut off supply to their main men in the middle whilst forcing them into pockets on the pitch & us having superior numbers at the same time. Truly amazing to watch the depth of the tactics used by Klopp.
Then it showed how Pep sussed out what Klopp was doing & changed their approach to try nullify it. It really made me respect both managers immensely.
Whilst it is true Pep has pretty much unlimited funds that not many, if any can match, he is also one very very smart cookie & it’s not just money alone that has c$ty so far ahead of everyone else in the EPL.
As I write this I see c$ty are favorites to sign Joghino (spelling), who LFC were closely linked to, I can’t see anyone competing with c$ty over the course of 38 games in the next couple of seasons._____________________________

24th April 2018 at 10:13 am #20887Maverick, with due respect it’s just a matter of opinion either way that’s my opinion and on a football forum everyone is entitled to an opinion without being told that their opinion is “complete nonsense” !!!!
38 games v 13 games is a key fact as is the fact that the luck of the draw in the CL can play a significant part and if we’re going to decide Manager of the Season just on money spent then it should be Sean Dyche!!!

24th April 2018 at 11:36 am #20890999…the Champions League is seen as the greatest club competition in the world, and last July Liverpool would have been, at a guess, 10th-15th favourites to win it, after probably all 4 English clubs, both Madrid clubs, Barca, PSG, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and probably seen at around the same level as Napoli, Roma, Dortmund, Sevilla etc.
While I’m not knocking Pep at all, he’s a genius, City were hot favourites to win the Premier League, maybe not by the amount they have won it, but strong favourites nonetheless. He’s done a great job, no one is disputing that. I just believe that if Klopp somehow pulls off a Champions League win in May, and it’s a big if, then that achievement I’d quite phenomenal. In August our best player was angling for a move away, and we’d royally f***** up our pursuit of our No.1 target. And you think it’s luck we’ve got as far as we have? Top achievement for me that should get him Manager of the Year

24th April 2018 at 12:19 pm #20892I might be biased but all things considered ie money spent, squad strength, improvement etc Klopp is one of if not the best manager around & we are very very lucky to have him.
Whilst my respect for Pep is very high, I couldn’t see him or many other managers taking on a “project” like Klopp did with LFC & take it from going nowhere to being on the brink of becoming 1 of the big boys again.
That said we need to finish top 4 & get C/L again or we will once again struggle to get the players required to improve like we want to. After so much positivity recently it’s hard to accept we might not even be in the C/L again next season._____________________________

24th April 2018 at 1:17 pm #20895Hightown, what I actually said was “the CL is decided over 13 games and luck plays it’s part with the draws.”
That’s was a general statement about the CL as a whole and luck as it does in all Cup competitions often plays a part in deciding the winner just as it did in both 2005 and 2012.
Do you not think that Liverpool after finishing in 4th place didn’t pull a fortunate Group in the CL? I’ve seen lots of posts from Liverpool fans across various sites that have said they did pull a fortunate Group but credit to Liverpool for winning their Group and then drawing Porto.
But lets be fair Hightown the draw could have been a lot unkinder to Liverpool than it was up to the City tie.
In a different example I was very pleased that Chelsea avoided both Spurs and United in the Semi Finals and that Chelsea were fortunate enough to draw Southampton sometimes good fortune runs for you.
I haven’t in anyway suggested that it would not be an incredible achievement should Liverpool win the CL in fact the reverse as I said in my first post “taking nothing away from what would be an incredible achievement by Klopp were it to happen”.
If Liverpool were to win the CL and I honestly think they might it will be a fantastic achievement and as I have previously and do again fully acknowledge that!
Also the League Managers Association Awards is an annual award ceremony in English football, awarded by the League Managers Association. The most prestigious award is the LMA Manager of the Year award. It is presented to a manager from any division for his achievements in the prior season. The award is voted by fellow professional managers and as a result consideration is also given to managers who inherit poor sides or financial difficulties and not only those managers who do not have such financial constraints and have won trophies. On only five occasions has the Premier League winning manager won the award compared with the Premier League Manager of the Year award which has been won on all but four occasions by the league champion. So sometimes the award goes to a Manager that hasn’t won a major trophy and can even go to a Manager outside of the PL as it has done previously.
Tbh I wouldn’t be opposed to Klopp being crowned Manager of the Year if he were to lead Liverpool to what as you rightly say at the start of the season would be a very unlikely CL win and just like Salah and De Bruyne you could make a strong case for either Klopp or Pep being crowned Manager of the Year should that happen.
The fact is though this is all a mute point as the Manager of the Year will be awarded before the Champions League Final is even played and being a League Managers Association it tends too focus on achievements in the League’s than elsewhere.
Should Klopp win the CL though there’s every chance that his achievement will be recognised by UEFA.
Good luck for tonight . Cheers 999

11th May 2018 at 4:25 pm #21545Salah has won the Liverpool player of the year. N.Kante has taken the Chelsea award. While D. Degea has taken the United award. I can’t have any complains about those 3 players. I assume KDB may have won the City award. I need our City friends to confirm that. And our Spurs friends need to confrim who has won their Player of the season award. Kane or Eriksen? And who has won the Arsenal award?
