I’m talking about before he got injured last season cm. Just my opinion. I don’t think he’s anything special.
Vvd injured and midfielders playing there was klopps fault. Last ten games we played our 5th and 6th choice cbs and win 8 and drew 2 to finish 3rd. Klopp was a huge reason why we missed vvd so much.
I could be totally wrong. Ten hagg might turn out to be brilliant and Martinez world class. It’s still very very early days for both
As Alfie said, let’s see we’re utd are in a few months time. No need to panic yet at sll

4th October 2023 at 6:04 pm #210055We had three centre backs missing v wolves
Ed so Klopp felt he ready and did well but ye I totally agree about klopps faultWe badly need a cb. We may even need two with Matip and vvds ages.
I also do agree with cm that a lot of injuries are going to really hurt the side. I was just told in here once before not to Moan about injuries that’s why I brought it up lol

4th October 2023 at 6:06 pm #210056Agree on the last part Sean. As usual, everyone has written Ten Hag and Onana and even Utd off already. No denying we’ve been crap but let’s wait and see. Dare I say Arteta had Arsenal in all kinds of problems a couple of years back losing their first 3 games. The media and even Arsenal fans went overboard as we all always do. I won’t be calling for his head anyway, certainly not yet anyway.

From what I have seen so far this season. I rather not wait and see.
I have already started making predictions for next season. United to win the league after giving Ryan Giggs 400m to spend.

4th October 2023 at 6:20 pm #210060I predicted Onana is going to be next Barthez. So far, I am not far off.

4th October 2023 at 6:35 pm #210061999 would have had some wise words to say on this thread. Something about how all managers are under pressure if they don’t win at the top clubs. Miss the guy. He did always blame Chelsea’s problems on Chilwell and James’ injuries though 😅

4th October 2023 at 6:46 pm #210062You mention Arteta Ed, but he’s been in charge at Arsenal for nearly 4 years and the only major trophy he’s won is an FA Cup in his first season. I still don’t think they’re good enough to win the league after quite a bit of investment. Is Arteta the best example to cite? I concede there are no obvious candidates to replace Ten Hag at the moment, so the club will probably have to sit tight for the time being.

Well he’s taken them from seemingly on the brink of ruin to second favourites for the title. I’d take that turnaround, best example or not.

4th October 2023 at 7:40 pm #210068That’s the danger for me though Ed. You start aiming for second best and begin accepting it. Take it from a Liverpool fan in the doldrums for a long time.

4th October 2023 at 9:11 pm #210074Unless you get taken over by one of them? 😁
I don’t know Ed, I think some teams could still make a hell of a lot better fist of it. There’s quite a few teams underperforming considering the money spent. I do believe there are managers out there but many opt for safe or idealist options.

Ten Hag will come good.
But you can’t blame the Glazers for recent results._____________________________

5th October 2023 at 11:04 am #210080Think most people had Casemiro in their best team last season but from what I can gather he’s looking very much his age now. He plays such an important role and to have him easily bypassed will always lead to chances.

5th October 2023 at 1:34 pm #210082Yeah that’s as much about his legs seemingly having caught up with him I think Threeps. As you say, he’s very much looking his age this season. Brazilians tend not to age well as footballers do they? A few come to mind who regressed quite rapidly. Ronaldinho, Fabinho, Kaka, Robinho, Rivaldo to name a few. Fabinho was a bit like Casemiro where he just seemed to lose it one season to the next. I had Rodri over Casemiro in my TOTS but I did think he was very good. Fernandinho, on the other hand, seemed to maintain a high level.
