There was allegedly some form of dirt stuck on a piece of yellow tape which was used on the ball.

My guess is that may be have been bits (very fine grit paper) of stuck on electric tape and used to create a more smoother finish on the ball to help turn when bowling (as the ball wears away it’s gloss over a course of time (and shape)).

I see Broad has already questioned how they managed to get so much reverse swing this winter when the England bowlers got none. Cork has already called them out on it by saying questions need to be asked about the recent tour under the same ‘leadership team’. Shameful stuff. Premeditated ball tampering is blatant cheating and in many people’s book is the same as match fixing. Remember players have been jailed and had suspended for two three years for betting on no balls!

Jim, given the Head of Cricket Australia is involved and even the Prime Minister you would expect some significant punishments to come and worryingly it seemingly runs through the whole team. Sport isn’t sport when it stoops to cheating. And as you rightly say it reflects badly on Australia’s previous achievements and indeed Australia as a whole.

Cricket has always been a sport I’ve taken an interest in and love the test matches and the one-days.

It’s a gentleman’s sport and played in good spirits, but even the odd scandal here and there stays in one’s memory for a long time.

The authorities I’m sure will come forward and do what they need to do. It’s damaging for the reputation of the nation because of something underhand and scandalous actions by a very small minority.
