so Chucky you can’t even go out for a walk here and there, exercise? Take the youngun out for a ride on his bike. That is total lockdown. wow. Never got to that stage here in Australia fortunately. I still go for my daily 2 or 3 hour walk and can do it with at least one other person. We can also go surfing or swimming in the ocean but strangely not swimming in the council pools. Other than that we can go essential shopping. I pity you guys if it is that strict.

13th May 2020 at 12:16 pm #112210I am not really into conspiracy stories but SOMETHING has started all this and got out of control. We know there are many countries active in germ warfare, it was once said, I forget who, that you did not need a large occupation army if you could neutralise the people. Horrible thought but it started somewhere and by somebody

13th May 2020 at 12:18 pm #112211I read the below comments on a Liverpool forum so I cannot take credit for. Also I have not quoted it as an attack against anyone here but I agree with a lot that was written.
“The reality of life just now is that people have a multitude of things on their minds. Despite that, the ‘just void it’ types have built a straw man to attack. This straw man comes in the shape of the Liverpool fan who, apparently, only has one thing on his/her mind, and that is to lift the title.
Now I am Liverpool fan, but lifting the title probably occupies about 0.01% of my day. It lurks at the back of my mind as I also think about a million other, more pressing, things happening in my life just now. The straw man is an invention, not the reality, but they’ll attack it anyway.
It’s really ironic that those who feel we should only think about the virus and nothing else always seem to be bleating on about football and how we shouldn’t play it or think about it. It seems we aren’t allowed to think positively about football’s future, but they are allowed free reign to endlessly talk negatively about it.
I’ve said a few times on here but, in times of crisis, it’s actually beneficial to people to spend at least a little time per day looking forward to and thinking about better times to come.
Viktor E. Frankl was a psychiatrist before the war and was sent to Auschwitz death camp during it. As a prisoner he observed the mindset of fellow prisoners who survived and those who gave up and died. He noted how those who tended to survive had a vision of what they’d do when they were liberated. They gave themselves something to look forward to, something to survive for. Many of those with more negative outlooks tended to give up, fade away and eventually die. So, even in the face of unspeakable horror and the daily anxiety over being selected for the gas chambers, there were men in that hellhole with their minds on better times and happier days. In fact, this helped them to survive and eventually rebuild their lives.
So when we have idiots telling us that we should be concentrating on the virus, the death toll and the misery of the current situation, I think we are well within our rights to tell them to do one. We spend enough of our day worrying, and giving ourselves something to look forward to and aim for is beneficial to good mental health.
It’s the people who insist we should all be consumed by the misery of this virus who really need to take a look at themselves. With their attitude we all go under. With ours, we get to seek and find solutions and we get through and, eventually, we rebuild. In a crisis, we need positive people. Forward thinking. Solutions, not excuses to stay stagnating in misery and malaise.”

13th May 2020 at 12:18 pm #112212Paxton, I’m saying we need football back but I never said without it been safe. That’s the priority.
The amount of suicides is rising quickly every day. Isolation is killing people aswell as the virus. Cancer patients are not going to hospitals.
Look at the trains this morning in the uk?no common sense being used.
I dais try and get back to some kind of normal by being safe. By following the rules.

13th May 2020 at 12:24 pm #112214I prefer to focus on the positives. People are dying, it’s absolutely heart breaking but that’s ok look forward

13th May 2020 at 12:26 pm #112215It also reminds me of something many years ago when I was asked to attend a meeting to develop a material to stop a certain type of shell/bullet penetrating a certain area, We finally reached a solution and as we finished up the guy I was talking to, waved at the guy in the next office. he then turned to me and said, that would be the guy who will try and design a bullet/shell to penetrate the new material> The point of this is that they were thinking of “kill or cure” . They may not have done this for Coronavirus or it has got out of control and we are left with “Kill”
Not conspiracy but probability and looking at some of the countries with such strong motives on there agenda makes you think

13th May 2020 at 12:34 pm #112217Anonymousfair play sean but my point is football is not a necessity or priority at the moment. I’m all for talking about how to bring it back when the time is right but getting people back to work, rebuilding the economy, sorting out any physical or mental issues that have arisen from this are the priorities. the last couple of months have been tough on everyone and I know everyone deals with things in their own way, some will find it easier than others. there will come a point when a horrible decision will need to be made by governments where they basically made a decision on who lives and who dies because as you said there are people dying and suffering from other illnesses that arent getting the treatment they need. maybe I am underestimating just how important football is to peoples lives and wellbeing but to me its at the bottom of the list.
there are many good things that have come out of this pandemic. we have learned that working from home for many is an option. this is great for the environment and mental health as people have more time at home. we have learned that our doctors, nurses and teachers are fucking heroes and deserve far more respect. we have learned what we are really capable of doing when we arent so invested in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
sadly we have also learned (although many knew) that our national media is a disgrace and our governments are a shambles.

13th May 2020 at 12:55 pm #112222Pax-Spot on fella,I really, really dont miss football. Not having fooking bitches and parasites like Messi,CR7,Neymar,Pogba,Jose,Ozil,behaving like they own the planet, like the entire white world should be worshipping them, and that nothing/nobody else matters but their ugly mugs, has made the world a mcuh better place, even for s very short period of time.Nurses, paramedics, some doctors, going to work, working very long hours and without PPE,plus being abused on their way to work by some retarded scumbags-they are the heroes, not fucking CR7,Messi,Neymar,Pogba,Jose,Ozil,Ramos,etc.

13th May 2020 at 1:01 pm #112225Do agree with a lot that’s being said about the media focusing on the negatives (or as I suspect they are thinking, the real “click bait” headlines). There are a lot of positives coming through (even if it has taken somethign tragic for them to happen, which isn’t ideal by a long shot!). Working from home for one, my company are already exploring the idea of making this almost semi-permanent (2 or three days a week from home with this “hot-desk” thing for the office), so with the Misses firm. And we’re not exactly in a major city at all, I can only see benifits in the long term. And flexi-hours too, I can see that becoming a important thing for many too, help avoid the crush and nonsense during rush-hours.
I have had to come to the office three times sense this all started (needed to print/scan/stamp documents and I don’t have the gear at home) but that’s about it. Walk here, do what I need to, go home again. But other than that, I can do everything from home. Don’t like it much to be honest, prefer to get it done in the office, less distractions, or maybe it’s just the sheer amount of time being at home I find frustrating. I guess I’ll learn more if/when life gets back to a bit more normality.
In a way, I even feel a bit of sympathy for the politicians. There never was going to be 100% perfect solution to this, whichever way they cut it. But it certainly doesn’t help with the assholes among us who aren’t exactly helping the situation. I read somewhere there’s a big anti-vaxxer thing going on in central London this weekend for example, what is the fooking point of that?

13th May 2020 at 1:09 pm #112229I can’t wait for football to return but I only want it to return when it’s safe to do so and I am unsure what it’s going to be like watching football behind closed doors but I’m sure I’ll watch it.
I certainly don’t need any lessons from anyone on being positive, in real life I have to remain positive even though I have to live my life in three month cycles.
Try doing that.
Coping with this isolation although I desperately miss my family particularly my Grandsons this is still a breeze by comparison.

13th May 2020 at 1:12 pm #112230Mav, I don’t miss football either as I said weeks ago. I cancelled my sky subscription and I don’t read anything to do with football. My point was bringing it back when safe is a massive step forward and it will show we are recovering.
I have an opinion on football and what I’d like to see done but that’s it.
I couldn’t care less about transfers. I don’t read anything to do with Liverpool. I just get my news from friends on WhatsApp or whatever.
I think of the good time’s ahead. These are really crazy times but we will get through it and I think we need to learn to live with the virus until a vaccine is found but to try and push on aswell
