The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing Adlab.
Have the PL built in the 14 day isolation periods for all the Clubs still playing in Europe I doubt it.

10th May 2020 at 9:24 pm #112084AnonymousThree from Brighton, Dynamo Dresden entire squad quarantined, and three players for Vitoria Gumarese in Portugal… Me thinks project restart is going to hit a brick wall soon. Now whats to say players from relegation threatened clubs are more likely to get Corona infections… such a cynical mind…

As for international sport, Done and dusted for another 8 months as far as im concerned while the outbreak continues. Not sure we’ll have an August kick off date for a new season… fingers crossed we do and we’re all here having a jolly when it does come back.

11th May 2020 at 8:26 am #112085If the PL are incapable of stopping this nonsense then the Government should do what the French Government did and state “The big sporting affairs cannot occur before September.” “The 2019-20 football season cannot return.” And UEFA have to stop this nonsense of trying to restart the CL and the EL when our Clubs players will have to self isolate for two weeks on returning to the UK assuming there’s even a flight to get them where they need to go ,there is limited/no air travel across the whole of Europe and countries are even considering banning British holidaymakers from entering their countries this Summer.
Even putting aside the number of Coronavirus cases in football already being reported across the European Leagues despite the players training under severe limitations if you can only play Golf in England on your own or with a member of the same household in a maximum group of two how on earth can the PL comeback with potentially 16 players v 16 players on the same pitch with all the Coaches, medical staff, unused substitutes and everyone else needed to stage a game in a neutral ground too.
It just doesn’t make sense and you would hope that the PL acknowledges that today too. But I’m not holding my breath.

11th May 2020 at 8:38 am #1120869, it’s almost as if the PL are pushing on in the hope that the government will put the brakes on for them, that way it’s not their fault that the season doesn’t get finished and they can tell the broadcasters and sponsors they tried their best and it’s out of their hands, in effect shifting the blame and liabilities…..Pagan

11th May 2020 at 9:42 am #112088Peggy from the Midlands-That sounds the best option the footballing authorities can take without the huge lawsuits being faced, and I agree entirely with you.The government then will take matters into their own hand and declare sporting activities banned until they deem safe for the public.

11th May 2020 at 10:47 am #112089“I’d be surprised if we didn’t see the PL in this meet today bump the “Project Restart” plan down the road again. They’ve been hanging their hat on government guidance. Their isn’t anything in that speech last night that will comfort the Players/Dr’s at clubs.” Garry Neville.
I think Neville is probably right and we will get either no decision or a postponement to the projected restart. Both much easier for the PL than having to make a decision.?

11th May 2020 at 11:04 am #112091National Rugby League in Australia well on track to recommence 28 May 2020. Anybody that doesn’t mind something to watch in lieu of the world game that I assume will be broadcast over there. High quality Rugby League a better watch than two cockroaches having an arm wrestle on the kitchen floor.

11th May 2020 at 1:15 pm #112096Various newspaper reports are suggesting the following:
“The Premier League has reportedly been given the green light to return on June 12.
Boris Johnson addressed the public on Sunday, revealing a plan to guide the country out of lockdown in the coming months.
On Monday the Prime Minister will reveal in Parliament further details of his roadmap to get out of lockdown, with a government paper on elite sports expected to be published on Tuesday, report The Telegraph.
These plans will give the green light for professional sports to return next month, including the Premier League’s planned resumption on June 12, subject to safety conditions being met and coronavirus infection rates not rising.”

11th May 2020 at 3:40 pm #112103Pagan…I would say that is the right way of looking at this, Nine also eluded to it…FA looking to shift responsibility. That is because they do not have the guts, so look for a way out. They are a useless lot, no doubt about that, they have no social concern whatsoever, only who pays them the next buck

11th May 2020 at 4:09 pm #112107Mav, if it happens and that requires no problems along the way if we get to the point of being able to launch Project Restart a start date of June 1st looks optimistic to me on the basis that the majority of the players aren’t yet even in training and even those in training are still a long way from full training and they haven’t played any football now for circa 8 weeks so I think the 1st June looks very optimistic.
If we rush back to soon before a proper pre season prior to the restart there will be countless injuries.
As we get back to more intensive training with bodily contact across all Clubs there will also almost certain be more positive tests for Coronavirus which could stop the whole thing in its tracks.
Ultimately it may not come down not to when we start but to whether we might be able to finish..

12th May 2020 at 8:33 am #112116Both ghe PL and the Government have both seemed desperate to get football back on for their own purposes.
However the devil as always will be in the detail as per the two crucial paragraphs below.
“The 50-page document, titled “Our Plan to Rebuild: The UK Government’s COVID-19 Recovery Strategy,” includes “permitting cultural and sporting events to take place behind closed doors for broadcast, while avoiding the risk of large-scale social contact,” if a number of conditions relating to limiting the spread of the virus can be met.”
“Football will only be allowed to return if the governing bodies can set out a pathway that satisfies ministers and health professionals.”
Currently the UK is in a very strict and very tight lockdown which has helped drive the cases and consequently the deaths down but as soon as the UK begins to lift some of the precautions of the lockdown as we have today in England we have to wait and see how that impacts on the reported Coronavirus cases and ultimately the deaths but sadly over 200 people still died in the UK today.
There are currently very few Clubs back in training and those that are on a very limited basis with no contact between players as that accelerates and eventually we get into bodily contact on the training pitch if Coronavirus is detected at higher levels in the Clubs then we will have a better idea as to how realistic it is to bring football back in June, then there are the Club’s to convince re neutral venues significantly more than the bottom three as well as the players.
Ultimately we may well get started but will we get it finished that’s the big question and only time will tell and given the FA’s announcement that the League would be decided on sporting merit if it didn’t restart why are we even bothering?
Plenty of water still to flow under the Bridge yet but the desire of both the PL and Government to try and get football up and running is obvious.

12th May 2020 at 8:43 am #112117And here’s the reason why they want to get the games back on
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52579299
In addition to this I’ve read elsewhere that the broadcasters would be demanding their cash back if there’s no relegations as basically the matches would be “friendlies”….Pagan
