You would think the above together with what the Medical Director of FIFA said would make the PL reconsider an early restart but will it?

I’m not sure how the players will be able to be insured given all the medical advice or if they are insured who would pay out in an emergency.

Anyone who has tried to make a valid claim from an insurance company knows insurance companies look to find every little get out to try and prove a claim is invalid and you would think the PL/Clubs going against medical advice gives them the perfect get out.

pretty sure thats the most pointless alternative table posted. the game would be played differently. you can’t just cut off 5 minutes from each half and say that’s how it would look because nothing would change apart from the number of goals scored.

It’s just an example Paxton on how messing about with the 90 minutes could have an impact for instance Newcastle could potentially be relegated and United would never have won the treble in 1999 based on 80 minute games.

But you’re right it’s broader than just lopping of 10 minutes from the game

Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that.

9, great table, but I suspect it’s just had the halves cut a 40 mins, however get it more accurate they’d to remove minutes 41 to 45 Of each half and then still count the goals scored in time added on…..Pagan

Pagan, I saw it in the Express and given there’s not a lot to talk about currently other than will we or won’t we see the PL restart in June I just stuck it up for a bit of light hearted discussion tbh.

I think we can all agree that a lot of crucial goals are scored in the last 5 minutes of each half and reducing each half to 40 minute is just another thing that interferes with the integrity of the game and a bad idea. Cheers 9’s

As I suggested a long time ago, when the TV companies get complete control of the game we will go to American style thinking 20 minute “periods” 2 hours per game and 11 on the pitch and 13 on the bench…….you may laugh now BUT…..its coming!!!!!!! Plenty of “popcorn” during the game though
