2nd May 2020 at 2:11 pm #105102Mav@10:19am No I totally agree with you and Pagan we won’t fix this until we get a vaccine.
My post only related to us getting a clearer picture of the potential of “Project Restart” progressing or not after the Government’s statement on May 7th re how the lockdown might go forwards together with the next PL meeting.
Football as we knew it with crowds etc won’t comeback until a vaccine exists imo. Cheers 9’s

2nd May 2020 at 4:51 pm #105202If I was a footballer right now I would be asking any club or FA what the risks are, clearly, people are still getting infections, clearly people continue to die. DO NOT show me a graph on a chart showing a gradual fall. Show them a picture of your family and ask them to guarantee there future. No amount of money would get me to play and if you threatened me I would take up the legal challenge and no doubt there would be others If I was a footballer
Being scared I would could consider being scared, a normal reaction to something that is avoidable_____________________________

2nd May 2020 at 4:54 pm #105205If and when a vaccine appears, it will still have to be proven
1. It works
2 Potential side effects
3 Potential for accelerated re action if people taking other medicationPatience is still required

2nd May 2020 at 5:02 pm #105211Pagan..re your earlier post re neutral venues….to true….but this shows how inept are FA are, they just do not think things through unless it has a solution kicking off next saturday….Money driven.. If they go bust, so be it, somebody will have another framework set up next day Have no time for FA or Players Union management. They have milked the system for years and never make positive decisions.

2nd May 2020 at 9:25 pm #105387One thing I have noticed more on this forum in recent times is that there is an improved camaraderie over say 12 months ago. people have time to see others view now, as it should be. It is always about opinion and I always respect opinions unless it gets too personal The genuine feelings and support are real though and you should all be proud of that and continue to make this the best forum to be on. I am NOT a preacher but feel I would like to make how I feel known
As to football, it will be back, I stick to my early forecast and say January 2021 I just cannot see the risk to public going away before then If it does, I will be more worried of the outcome.
The money people will be working away frantically over a secret lunch somewhere , probably Davos, they have a lot of high priced rooms ready at the moment!!!!_____________________________

3rd May 2020 at 9:14 am #105929Cheers Brian. January 2021 would be close to perfect as they could continue on the season from where it left off albeit 12 months on and then get back to some sort of normality.

3rd May 2020 at 10:15 am #105980Can’t honestly see Oz but Perth have put their name forward?
Alleged new lockdown rules to be announced this week have multiple exercising providing with people from the same household providing they stay 2 metres apart from other groups which will surely kaibosh a return to football in June.
Good article in the Mail today by Olly Holt and a very good interview with Frank who talks a lot of sense.

3rd May 2020 at 10:33 am #105998From a purely financial perspective, I don’t think there’s any way the powers that will be will go along with the idea of missing next season so we can finish this season. Scrap the end of this season, yeah, they’ll go along with that so next season can start. Delay next season a month or two, yeah, they’ll go along with that, but scrap next season so they can finish this season? Not a snowball’s chance in hell. Every club, and I do mean every club, can’t afford to do that.
The only thing stopping this “close doors” angle is the very correct notion that there needs to be enough testing/protection etc for those on the front line first, I don’t think anybody anywhere can argue against that, but as soon as that is “sorted” then footy will start. And that will be sorted in a max of 3 months which pretty much puts you into next seasons pre-season.

3rd May 2020 at 11:20 am #106038Western Australia and South Australia have both recorded zero new cases for quite a few days straight now so that could be a really good option. The players would probably have to complete a 14 day isolation on arrival but after that, well I cannot see a problem. After all our NRL (National Rugby League) is starting up for sure on 28 May and the players are going back to work tomorrow to recommence training in preparation.

3rd May 2020 at 1:00 pm #10612367, there is a reluctance perhaps understandably to play even the remaining PL games on neutral PL grounds.
Playing the remaining PL games in another country I’m pretty sure would just add to that reluctance as would a further 14 days of isolation at a time when all the current proposals are already stretching the integrity of the competition and when players might already have to live in hotels for 6 weeks to isolate themselves just playing the games over here.
It’s the English PL it has to be played in England and if we can’t finish it here then I’m sorry to say that’s it imo.

3rd May 2020 at 1:58 pm #106171For me, the season needs to be completed under the same conditions it started With in order for it not to lose its integrity, thatβs home and away fixtures with crowds and with VAR. Anything else and the legitimacy of the competition is called into doubt…..Pagan

3rd May 2020 at 3:42 pm #106256Neutral grounds. Not for me. It becomes a different competition neither, and most important, is it fair.
Any team has the chance of beating Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Utd at home but much much less on a neutral ground._____________________________

3rd May 2020 at 5:45 pm #106358The BBC are reporting that
βA growing number of Premier League clubs are open to playing the remaining fixtures at neutral venues but with the threat of relegation removed.β
Which begs the question why bother then??? Oh yeah money…..Pagan
