999 – but right now there are no winners. no one has done enough to be a winner and no one has done enough to be a loser so why create either? call the league as it stands but have no champion and no relegation. current top 4 get champions league and 5th and 6th get europa.
or play it out on FIFA with team captains playing.

1st May 2020 at 2:45 pm #104112The problem with Garry Neville’s proposal is will any Coronavirus free country want to import 20 Clubs with 25 plus man squad Coaches Managers and medical staff plus TV companies and media personell as well as Referees and Linesmen and potentially VAR officials from England given the current Coronavirus situation in England and what country has the Hotels to individually accommodate 20 PL Clubs with all their players and staff plus officials, TV staff and the media.
It sounds like a good idea but I’m not sure it would be that easy to pull off.

1st May 2020 at 3:05 pm #104131Personally I think if the Government doesnโt cancel all Sport until September as they have in France the PL will want to try and press ahead with playing out the season despite the many concerns in doing so.
I think it will all fall down as soon as one or two players and Coaching staff go down with the virus and God forbid a Superstar gets Coronavirus and the worst happens. What happens with the insurance and anyone who has dealt with an insurance company on a claim will know insurance companies look to wriggle out of claims how and wherever they can and thereโs plenty of wriggle room with the Medical Director of FIFA saying we shouldnโt be considering starting football before September at the earliest.

1st May 2020 at 4:04 pm #104177Well it is the farce I would have suspected. Playing at a neutral venue. Totally unfair on those teams who lose their home advantage when they have had the away disadvantage. Just cant go with this. The integrity of the competition is totally lost. Ihave to say I have little interest in watching on this basis. CANCEL the league and start again next season and if necessary give Liverpool the title.- they would win anyhow…no relegation, no promotion.
No crowd, a false event..who is interested

1st May 2020 at 4:10 pm #104183The PL are desperate to get the league restarted, the immediate financial loss is a concern to them, but as this lockdown progresses fans are realising that football and other sports are just entertainment and are discovering where they actually sit in the order of importance in their lives. The addiction fans have for game where theyโll pay over the odds for their next fix wains the longer they go cold turkey, both the PL and the broadcasters realise this and know they need to maintain the supply to keep the addiction…….Pagan

1st May 2020 at 4:36 pm #104203“Clubs reaffirm commitment to completing 2019/20.
Clubs say players will only return to training and playing if Government says its safe to do so.” SSN 1/05
Predictsble and it gives the Clubs a get out clause if they need it. .

1st May 2020 at 4:56 pm #104222Mav, of course the only snag with playing the games in Australia is the difference in time zones for the leagues parent country…..Pagan

1st May 2020 at 5:11 pm #104234Mav, I don’t think that’s what the PL will look to do this is a Garry Neville proposal. ๐ And Oz are seemingly getting on top of Coronavitus so why would they want to import so many people from England a country who currently doesn’t have Coronavirus under control and finally if completing the PL fixtures is about retaining the TV monies it won’t work in Oz because of the time differences. Nobody in the UK wants to watch PL football in the middle of the night.

1st May 2020 at 8:06 pm #104373Pagan…think you are right, also, would Australia really, really want it? High risk to them. Plus how will fans get there…no planes, no pilots now Every day comes a new idea, they should stick with fact based scenario of no football until the deaths drop significantly and the infections as well

1st May 2020 at 9:16 pm #104429If you look at the stats, the more the tests so the more the cases – obvious.
The time when new cases go right down is when things can start up again. June? Not sure._____________________________

1st May 2020 at 9:27 pm #104439Adlab, we can only go back to where we were if we have either a prevention (vaccine) or a cure (medicine) at the moment we have neither, all weโre doing at the moment is slowing the spread or rationing the disease.
Hereโs hoping they find one of the former two very soon……Pagan

2nd May 2020 at 8:34 am #104884The picture should be clearer by the end of next week following the Governmentโs pronouncement on the lockdown going forwards on May 7th and another PL meeting.
But there remains a major difference in opinion amongst the Clubโs especially those in the bottom half of the table in or around the relegation fight re playing the outstanding fixtures at neutral grounds.
According to Matt Lawson of the Daily Mail PL rules donโt cover any of this and it would only take one Club to say no to neutral grounds and the restart plan would collapse.
The only thing thatโs certain currently is the uncertainty surrounding football and not just in playing out this season.
The restart date of the Bundesliga is allegedly threatened by the the 3 positive cases following testing at FC Cologne.

2nd May 2020 at 9:49 am #104934Pagan, assuming we get there I think the plan is not to confirm where the games will take place to avoid any crowds gathering?
The biggest problem will be at Anfield and in Liverpool once the title is officially confirmed.

2nd May 2020 at 10:19 am #1049529s-From medical point of view, testing offers absolutely nothing in terms of guarantee, cos just coz you are negative today in the morning and they let you play/go home, doesnt mean you wont get it in the afternoon or the evening,or the day after or………………..
As Peggy is saying, the only way to control it or stop it completely is through a vaccine or a cure,of which neither seem even on a horizon as of right this moment_____________________________
