29th April 2020 at 5:38 pm #102411Mav,he was called Neville but the poor man passed away in August 2015 from a heart attack.
I disliked Garry as a player but I think he’s a good pundit and not afraid to criticise his former Club unlike some pundits who are almost cheer leaders for their previous Clubs.

29th April 2020 at 5:40 pm #102413FIFA medical chief Michel D’Hooghe has warned against a return to football before September.
The comments of the veteran Belgian football administrator come as the Bundesliga moves towards a possible re-start next month, while the Premier League is hoping games could be played behind closed doors in June.
D’Hooghe said it was too early for players to be coming into contact with one another, at least while social distancing regulations are in place.
He told Sky Sports: “The world is not ready for competitive football, I hope this can change very quickly and I sincerely hope it does, believe me, but I think it is not the case today.
“Football remains always a contact sport and one of the first things that everybody says is that you should avoid contact at the moment. Football can only be possible if contacts are possible again.”
The same view may not be held across the board, with England’s Premier League clubs set to work towards standardised return-to-training protocols as part of ‘Project Restart’.
A reported resumption date of June 8 has been mooted, although the PA news agency understands it could be two days earlier. Evening Standard 29/04.

29th April 2020 at 7:01 pm #102468And the sad number will pass 32000. If we AVERAGE 300 deaths a day up until June we will be around 40000. Add to this related deaths from non treatment of cancer, heart issues etc. Heaven knows what it will be. 50000, 60000 maybe more. If I was a millionaire player I wouldnt want the risk of taking it back to family. Players would have to have daily tests as would their families, ancilliary staff, security and so on. Is it worth the risk. Imagine if Pogba caught it and it was fatal. What would that cost be?

29th April 2020 at 8:08 pm #102513Adlab, given the Medical Director of FIFA has said no football should be played before September at the earliest with that warning in mind imagine a worse case scenario where if the PL restarts in say July a top player gets Corona virus and heaven forbid dies can you imagine the law suits given that medical advice from the top medical man in FIFA.

29th April 2020 at 8:35 pm #102529I should add…it is not just the players but all involved in presenting a game. Lunacy that only the football organisations could dream up

30th April 2020 at 8:31 am #102984Social distancing will almost certainly be in place for some time but assuming football returns how are they going to be able to practice social distancing at corners and it certainly can’t be practiced in Rugby for instance. All sport should be banned until September at the very earliest.

30th April 2020 at 9:24 am #103020Good question 999. Rugby League even more so is a contact sport which the Australian Government is allowing to restart 28 May 2020 without crowds being present. If we don’t practice social distancing we can be warned by the Police and even fined yet the players can collide bodies, complete tackles, hug each other when the score and celebrate with high fives and whatever else. Doesn’t make any sense to me but glad to have the game back as something to entertain us. Belarus is another strange one, continuing to allow football right through this disaster. It doesn’t appear to have made a major impact on their disease statistics either.

30th April 2020 at 12:31 pm #103145FOOTBALL LEAGUE players have been told that the current season will likely NOT be finished with too many coronavirus tests needed for a restart.
Club captains and PFA reps for Championship clubs and below have been delegated with relaying the news to their teammates following an EFL board meeting yesterday.
More to follow…

30th April 2020 at 12:50 pm #103160Threeps. I actually dont agree. If you void the season that should mean what it says. It is as though it didnt happen. No winners, no losers start again with the same teams. Tough on some not on others.
