Sounds like it’s getting closer:
“Sports governing bodies and broadcasters have been called to a government meeting on Monday to discuss the staging of events behind closed doors if the coronavirus outbreak worsens and mass gatherings are banned.
The meeting is unlikely to be attended by ministers, but senior government officials will seek advice on the practicalities of staging sports events without fans, should it be needed.
It will be hosted by the government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in London.”

This is looking very serious and whether matches are played behind closed doors or the season is cancelled looks like it could be the least of our worries.
The most important thing is for people to stay safe it looks like there could be significant changes to the way we all lead our lives certainly in the short to medium term.
Let’s see what next week brings but I agree with the theme of Brian’s post above.

Getting worried about our holiday in Catalonia as we drive now in June as we driv down through France will have to make a decision by early April. Things are not looking good anywhere.

Numbers in China are down and they’ve been closing the hospitals opened for patients. So there is an end in sight, just not for Europe yet. It’ll be alright… fear not… blitz spirit and no spitting on hands and shaking them when doing deals. And… stay 50 feet away from anyone who looks sweaty and dirty… (avoid anfield and white Heart Lane where its not been scientifically proven that these two football venues were the cause of the outbreak in the UK…) π

Quite a lot of panic going on stateside at the minute. From stingy insurers to a complete lack of sick pay, this is going to hit them very hard. Stay safe and clean people, and if you live in the UK with a right to NHS care, thank your lucky stars. (Apologies if there are exceptional health care systems elsewhere, you can thank your lucky stars as well)
