12th April 2020 at 4:25 pm #96027AnonymousBrian, the 1 point thing all comes down to the fact that they were record points and not that it was just by 1. Nobody mentioned it here though I think? Im not going reading everything again.

Not in the mood for this TBH.

12th April 2020 at 6:42 pm #96031AnonymousCan’t believe I just read that this Liverpool team who have never won a premier league trophy are the best ever team to grace the premier league! We should all be honoured to live in a time when this Liverpool team existed!

12th April 2020 at 6:52 pm #96033“Thank you for all of your well wishes over the last few days.
“I’m delighted to be back home with the family after receiving brilliant care from the NHS, which we appreciate now more than ever.
“Marina and I would like to express our immense gratitude to the medical staff who cared for me and who continue to treat countless others throughout the country during an incredibly challenging period.
“I know the sun is shining for many of you, but I urge you to stay home and follow the government guidelines to the letter. This is undoubtedly the best way that we can look after one another at this time.
We will now be in full lockdown for the recommended amount of time in order to protect the lives of others.”
Some good news and some wise words from Kenny Dalglish.

12th April 2020 at 7:08 pm #96034Liverpool might not even win the league
Very good side but no great in my opinion.I always thought chelsea team 04/05 was such a great side. So hard to beat, didn’t concede goals and had some brilliant players going forward
It’s treble side, utd 08/09
Ciry last year, arsenal 2004. These were truly great sides.
Liverpool would need to be consistently winning big trophies over the next few years. Excellent side but not great yet
Be an absolute travesty if we don’t get the league this season.
We have been brilliant but I’m not sure we will get the trophy.
Decision is going to have to be made soon and I can’t see any football being played for a very very longtime

12th April 2020 at 9:08 pm #96036Although I sympathise with the Ministers having to give a daily issue of the same news they are not looking inwards enough. They say it is a “logistics” problem, That means a RED TAPE problem and that means Hanover managed system . We cannot afford this amount of ineptitude.
Another point is granting £10K to Mps because they have to work from home….what about thousands of others. Why are MPs not taking a pay cut???Why are we lending £600 million to an airline when we are told not to fly anywhere? When, for goodness sake will they ever be able to pay it back? More like it will go bust and we will loose the lot
Somebody has hands on money and is parting with it too easily
Give it to the front line NHS ONLY not the structure which is constipating itself with Consultants Quangos and a more than liberal management structure

12th April 2020 at 9:12 pm #96037“In a time when most of the news is negative and we’re hearing of people passing away, it’s great to see some good news on the medical front.
Unfortunately it’s a mixed day for Chelsea after they announced the passing of legendary keeper Peter Bonetti, but there is some great news regarding Gianluca Vialli:
Rest in peace, Peter ‘the Cat’ Bonetti. ?
Vialli the former Stamford Bridge hero has been given the all clear after 17 months of treatment for cancer.
He was best known as a striker at the club where he managed 21 goals in 58 games, but he also went on to become a player manager which is something rarely seen in the modern game.
He had a successful spell in charge which also included become the youngest ever manager to win a European Competition when they won the Cup Winner’s Cup in 1998.
Interestingly that record stood for 13 years until Andre Villas Boas won the Europa League with Porto in 2011.
It sounds like he’s been through a tough time so this is great news for Vialli and his family.”

13th April 2020 at 12:03 am #96038AnonymousMak, Wev’e a long way to go before we scale the heights of our recent past. Long way for a few other teams to climb. Liverpool are top of the cycle on merit. Despite the Corona thing, enjoy being the best side in Europe.. Because you are.
Going to bed singing Viallis song now nine. Legend… Anyone know how many other player manages there have been inn the premiership since Chelsea had Hoddle, Gullet and Vialli? Thats a good question I have no idea the answer to.

13th April 2020 at 7:49 am #96039And Vialli recovered from Pancreatic Cancer. Only 5% do that. It clearly wasn’t his time to go bless him. What a legend.
Sad news re Peter Bonetti who was apparently battling illness for quite some time. RIP ‘the cat’.

Great question too 442 no idea of the answer but I would think Chelsea have had the most Player Managers?

13th April 2020 at 8:56 am #96043442, re our chances of getting back to challenging for the title I think you’re right we are a couple of years off that yet but we’ve got a good foundation to build on and I think the quote below from Glen Hoddle makes a lot of sense.
“For me, Frank needs a clear transfer policy to take his team forward.
“He has been getting it right on the training pitch, on the football side, but the next big phase for him will be how the club operate in the transfer market.
“If Frank gets the players he wants, not the players someone else wants, he has an excellent chance, in two or three years’ time, of having the right squad and the right team to challenge for the Premier League title.”
The transfer market though is going to be extremely challenging post the Coronavirus imo. Cheers 9’s

13th April 2020 at 9:42 am #96045Brian has hit the nail on the head, “Sean…there is no way they cannot AWARD the title to Liverpool” the key point being AWARD, which is the same word being used by all the articles I’ve seen about all the leagues currently suspended.
Being awarded something is far different to winning something…..Pagan

13th April 2020 at 10:33 am #96046Ye I agree pagan. I don’t want to be awarded the league. I want to win but really at this stage, what will be, will be mate
I just can’t see how football can normally return anytime soon. Uk are really suffering.
I’ve kind of stayed away from discussing it and will come back to it when it gets resolved
We really will appreciate football when it comes back and it means the works is getting back to some kind of normality
Unfortunately some families will never get back to normal after this. It’s very sad what is going on
It’s not that difficult to stay in your house. Some of the pictures over the weekend just make you angry. People just don’t care for others
