11th April 2020 at 7:38 pm #95596A bit of light relief…talk about a lucky escape….re Phil Jones
“The England international was a much sought-after talent when on the books at Blackburn, with the Red Devils winning the race for his signature
Phil Jones has revealed that he snubbed advances from Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in order to join Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2011.”Whew!

12th April 2020 at 2:11 am #95803Anonymous“Impossible to say who has been the best PL team of all time thereβs been a few great ones and time tends to cloud the memory of how good some of them were.”
I don’t think it is. This Liverpool side are far and away the greatest ever PL side. There’s no real argument against it. I know that sounds arrogant because I’m saying it but I said the same about City and this side are even better. Was I arrogant back then? No, I was just being honest. There’s absolutely no team anywhere near either of these 2 sides in their best seasons. If you want to extend the discussion to 3-4 year spans then we open up a new discussion, as I and I think Brian were talking about our respective teams best PL seasons. Now, if you want to compare any one of Fergies PL seasons against either side then I’m open to that talk but I don’t see any way that you might change my mind on this.
Don’t let this come down to me being a Liverpool fan and you or others fighting it because it’s my team. It’s just the way it is.

12th April 2020 at 2:24 am #95811AnonymousI do have to ask though Nine, why you want so much to compare legacies?
Nobody doubts that fergie is the greatest ever Pl manager. People want to talk about the best ever PL side in any given season and you feel the need to shift the debate.
When someone talks about the best ever points total or such, they are talking about a single season. Why expand the scope?
You’re writing stuff that I might not disagree with but it’s a different conversation. Why are you so uncomfortable with this discussion, because this is not the first nor 2nd time that you’ve shifted it in the same manner.
This may not read amazingly but I really am only asking. I am also suggesting that you narrow in the discussion to seasons, as it should be. It’s the here and now that’s important, not that if Liverpool can go on from here and win 3 PLs in a row after this. A team hits a century and you don’t say how much they missed it by the season before.
How many did Arsenal lose in the season before and after they were invincibles? Nobody knows without looking it up.

12th April 2020 at 6:57 am #95967Mak, you wouldnβt judge the best ever player in the Premier League over one season, so why would you judge the best ever team over just one?
By only using one season, all you can say is that they were the best team over those 38 games, or 29 as it is now.
When Leicester won the league there was a lot of talk about the rest of the league being weak or underperforming, could that not also be said about this season.

12th April 2020 at 8:31 am #96006Mak, seriously mate I just joined in and gave my opinion in keeping with what Brian was trying to achieve which was to create a bit of discussion.
Even you yourself said “maybe itβs best to just air an opinion and let everyone have theirs”.
I’m not uncomfortable with anything and I’ve not shifted anything I’ve given just my view on who has been the best PL team ever in keeping with your above statement.
If you want to claim that Liverpool are the best PL team ever on the back of 29 games that’s up to you buddie and I’m not going to say you can’t do it it’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it I just put up my opinion as to who I think have been the best ever PL team that’s all and I think it’s a close run thing between the first and second teams Fergie built although I would plump for the second team Fergie built there’s quality in every area of the pitch, taking my Chelsea hat off they were often a joy to watch and they also won what was considered to be an undoable treble in 1999.
I’m on record on here this season on numerous occasions saying how good Liverpool have been this season and how deserving they are of the title there’s no need for all this angst just because I joined in a debate on who is the best ever PL team.
This site’s all about giving opinions and you shouldn’t be attacking anyone on here just for giving an opinion that’s what makes the site tick! Peace and Love.

12th April 2020 at 9:04 am #96011My daughter just pulled a fast one. Eddie the Easter Bunny left an egg in my room (which was absolutely for me!) and daughter was searching for hers in a slightly wider range than was allowed and has subsequently commandeered it into her ‘collection’.
Having learned her negotiation skills at the School of Levy, she has announced she “might share some of it with me” later…

12th April 2020 at 9:18 am #96012Well I asked the question, in reality I believe the question cannot be validated with any one view because we all have views and opinions. there are all kinds of “ifs and but”, we all know that and smart enough to know Utd, Liverpool Chelsea and Arsenal had some great footballing teams. One of the greatest achievements in modern football was Liverpools recovery against Barcelona, to me , that was better than the Real Madrid final, against that, we have been bombarded with Liverpool “only lost by a point last season”, yet, it was not many seasons ago when the same thing happened in reverse, if my memory serves me right. I have yet to hear one City fan moan about that..one point.
Footballs worst enemy are the fans, wherever they come from, expectancy too high, claimed rights to win everything, too high, I have stated it before, Fans need to appreciate the game of football by 22 players…they will enjoy it more then Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. In my 75 yr support history of supporting City I have been brought up in loosing more until recent times, so I am enjoying the sunshine but my umbrella is always at hand!!!_____________________________

12th April 2020 at 9:28 am #96014Double B, don’t worry, she missed one that was hers, so the “Finders Keepers” ruling is in play. (Of course, being the smart arse she is, she claim that isn’t fair as I was the one who hid it thus therefore had inside knowledge or something… and I know whos side Mum will take!)

12th April 2020 at 10:03 am #96016Who else remembers the eggs that used to come in a mug? Or do you still get those in Blighty?
Anyway, the eggs over here are pretty much limited to those minor “Kinder egg” variety, about the size of a real egg with a toy in them, don’t get the bigger Crunchie/Double Decker (my favourite!)/Mars bars type. A bit disappointing to be honest!

12th April 2020 at 10:52 am #96020Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will sanction the Β£200m sale of England striker Harry Kane, 26, to Manchester United to ease the club’s financial concerns. (Mail)
Manchester City are set to beat Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona to the Β£97.5m signing of Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez.
Although its the usual nonsense I dont think whoever writes this nonsense understands the economic impact of the pandemic. Utd…Β£200m? With their current finances dont make me laugh.
City Β£100m on one player! Total nonsense. We are losing 1000 people a day to this tragedy. We have no exit strategy as yet. All businesses and households are affected and they talk about these nonsensd figures. Idiots.
