Not defending Spuds one little bit Puppy, it’s disgusting, but just saying they’re not the only “bussiness” abusing the system.

6th April 2020 at 2:02 pm #92839Mak, this is a crisis not everything will be perfect but if Liverpool have employees whose role is not going to be required currently ie ticketing staff because of the current crisis getting 100% of your salary will be as good as it possibly gets.

6th April 2020 at 3:24 pm #92886AnonymousI know Nine but I’m just saying that it’s not the same as continuing with a salary. It potentially worsens the crisis for those people who are living week to week.
If I were working for the club, getting a weekly wage and got put on furlough, being put over to a system that wouldn’t pay me until the end of the month, that would be a massive problem for me, on top of the overall crisis and then to see that the profit making club could have stood by me… I’d be furious man.
It is a crisis and in this time we’ve got to at least try and look after those around us. That doesn’t stop just because we’re dealing with a fairly large company. They time and time again make a claim to be a part of the community. Where is “THIS MEANS MORE” now?
It really wouldn’t have cost the club an arm and a leg to show that it does mean more and that there is more to this club and the people who own it than just dollar symbols. Look at all the other clubs who aren’t doing this, perhaps they don’t have the marketing department that we have, maybe we should license out our catch-phrase because it’s just bloody words here.
I won’t say FSG out or anything like that, they’ve been just absolutely brilliant owners. I disagree with them here and even when I’m talking about it here, it’s honestly pissing me off. It creates a divide between myself and them for sure. It must do worse for you because the tax you pay down in London or Manchester or where-ever all you lads are, is paying for LFC staff.

6th April 2020 at 3:31 pm #92891AnonymousThe money saved by clubs needlessly foisting wages on the government can then be redirected onto the transfer market, or contract sales. It’s an extra 3 million or more that the club will have to use as they see fit, thanks to some shady practices. It might not be against the rules but it should be.

6th April 2020 at 5:00 pm #92941Mak, you’re right if people are on weekly wages and they get them monthly that may stretch them but we don’t know that or if some are on weekly wages and some on monthly wages the split of that. I’m sure the Club though could help out anyone disadvantaged.
I’ve just watched John Barnes trying to absolve Liverpool it really is pointless asking him for a balanced view on anything related to Liverpool FC.
I think there is pretty much universal agreement and not just on here on the fact that no top Clubs should be taking taxpayers money to pay their staff and this is the wrong scheme for football PL Clubs probably best left there.

6th April 2020 at 6:59 pm #93007AnonymousAh damnit. True, the money you have won’t necessarily save you in this situation. 1000’s will die across the global daily for some time. We can only continue to self-isolate and hope for the best.
As for Barnes, Nine, that’s disappointing. He may be speaking for the club and I’d imagine that’s the kind of thing they’d have him say but whatever, we all know what’s right. I’ve said my piece about it and will let it go now.

6th April 2020 at 7:38 pm #93031AnonymousYa, I mean they deservedly took a lot of flak for this move but I’m pleased with how quick they were to reverse it. I mean, I honestly didn’t think they would, so they’ve redeemed themselves in my eyes, mostly anyway. There is still a little bit of a bitter taste for them trying it in the first place but they admitted their mistake, which is definitely worth something.

6th April 2020 at 8:10 pm #93049Credit to Liverpool on reversing their decision on furloughing and admitting they got it wrong.
I’m not surprised they have.
