Pagan, I totally agree. It’s totally unfair if Liverpool are made champions and nothing else is sorted out with regards, promotion , relegation, cl places etc

Pagan, tbh I can’t remember. I remember the great teas, the lovely ground some of the nice away games Chertsey comes to mind because that’s where I went to school. I played football for Teddington Rangers that was much more intense than playing Cricket.

No club could run up a strip club bill like us… nobody could drink more jäger on a night after the game, once we were legends… Saracen Riffs (vindico Palens – for those who wish to correct our latin) est 2005 died 2015… and yes, the name is a mix of the two gangs from the warrior movie…
Keep it up with the cricket, hope the little lady makes the grade but more importantly, they get the buzz and love for the game for the rest of their lives. Few better ways to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday… hope youre all well.

According to this UEFA are urging leagues not to abandon the season, apparently they may ban teams from leagues that do from entering the European competitions the next year.
I’m sure that if there’s no Italian, Spanish, French, German or English clubs in the competitions they’ll still be able to charge the broadcasters the fortune they currently do…..Pagan

Pagan, UEFA seem all over the place with this less than a week ago UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin admitted that the 2019/20 season “will probably be lost” if the coronavirus outbreak prevents football from resuming by the end of June.
I think it’s unhelpful for UEFA to be threatening Leagues with loss of CL places if Leagues prematurely curtail the season I guess what bought that about was the actions of the Belgian League.
But the League’s aren’t in charge of when they can restart the Government’s of all the League’s are.
Seemingly UEFA would like to see the League’s completed in July and August but if that was the case the players would need June for a pre season you would then think there would need to be some sort of break between this Season and next Season with the new Season starting perhaps in early October which would still require some juggling of domestic Cups and next seasons CL and EL games.
UEFA are between a rock and a hard place if the current season pushes too far into next season that will almost certainly impact on the Euros and I’m sure UEFA won’t want to see that come under any more pressure than it has already even a possible cancellation because footballers won’t be able to play the end of season fixtures then with little to no break move on to playing a full League season and then go and compete in the Euros.
Still the PL seem to be on top of it all with a plan to play all the remaining 2019/20 games in China???

I’m not sure Garry Neville understood the question that caused his latest outburst which was should Clubs like Spurs be furloughing for their non playing staff using tax payers money when their players are earning up to £200k pw and the CEO earned £7m last season.
If Garry Neville and now seemingly Andros Townsend think it’s wrong to suggest that the players etc should be subsidising the non playing staff rather than the taxpayer in the current circumstances imo they really have lost the plot and probably lost the majority of football fans too!

Pagan, our little chat about who played Cricket for which Clubs and me confirming I played for Teddington CC and in football Teddington Rangers FC I am pleased to see both the Cricket Club and the Football Club are still going strong with the Cricket Club recently building a very fine new Pavilion in the beautiful surroundings of Bushy Park.
Having looked up Teddington Rangers on the internet again after such a long timd it reminded me that the negative side of playing for them was that we played in full Arsenal kit and they still do.?
Good to resurect some of those memories though bdrie so thanks for prompting that. Cheers 9’s

442, the wife hand makes everything barring the cobs and sausages, it’s a massive undertaking but she loves doing it.
As for the kids drinking, well we’ve never stopped them and they’ll have a drink, but they are fairly sensible about it.
The youngest, well she was asked to trial for a ladies football academy with one of the local professional teams this season, to be honest they’ve been trying to get her to play for the last few seasons. She turned up and they spent half an hour telling her how it was a 6 week trial process and they’d evaluate her against the other girls, Well she Trained and played for an hour and they asked her to sign, when they told her what was expected of her and she’d have effectively drop her cricket she turned them down…..Pagan

Well there is a surprise! No return on 30th April. Cant believe it. And I thought we would be arguing about VAR. Oh its 3rd April today not 1st!
Only 30%. If you earn £100,000 a week your are down to a meagre £70,000 or £3.6m a year for not doing anything. Tough isnt it. Some are on £300,000 a week thats over £10m a year for doing nothing. How tough is that.
Well over 3500 deaths and climbing. At this rate, this time next week we’ll be touching 8000 and we have overpaid individuals worrying about their millions for doing nothing. Really cross about this. Where do they think the money comes from?
Debenhams going into Administration what about their 20,000 employees. The footballers should be giving up at least 50%, even that is not enough in these circumstances._____________________________

Adlab, frankly it’s embarrassing, hopefully clubs will have a good look at themselves and realise the absurdity of the amount they pay players. As for the players, well it shows the lack of respect they have for the lowers paid people in their clubs which work hard to enable them to play.

This is a running theme here and also everywhere. What does it really have to do with Liverpool? Well 2 things, 1st, I am a Liverpool supporter, so your objectivity is immediately questioned and rightly so TBH (everyone’s objectivity should be questioned, because almost nobody has it). Objectivity is a huge problem for mankind. The world would look so different if we were able to master this. We never will.
The other thing is that Liverpool are so far ahead that it is over. All of the other situations that I’m aware of are definitely not decided to the same extent.
It’s definitely not a case of anyone looking for a solution only for their own team. I think one was offered for each scenario weeks ago. I say one but I mean various and then the best of them being “the one”, in my opinion but it’s always been a case of considering every other team. I know i;ve done that myself and had a “oh as long as Liverpool are looked after” kinda attitude from people here, when really Liverpool have looked after themselves and as a football fan, I’ve addressed everyone else.
It’s definitely true that the more marginal things get, the less fair they become and there’s nothing I can do about that. I personally would prefer that the league were finished but real life has gotten in the way here.
It’s really only about time with football and honestly lads, I don’t see the problem, given how serious our serious lives are getting. What is time compared to anything right now? it’s nothing. Look, if 2-3 seasons get offset by this then so be it. I wont rehash what i feel the best routes are unless I feel it’s needed’… I mean maybe we need a separate thread for it and then it might become clear to us all? I definitely see solutions but the key thing is that there will be inconveniences and again what does that even matter? That’s the least of our concerns.
The integrity of the sport still matters to me though.
Sean, you wouldn’t be happy to be awarded the title. Going from what you’re saying here, I get the feeling that this virus is really effecting your mentality. I’d like to get more from you though with regards to your ideas here. I mean, would you really prefer the season were voided instead of being awarded to us? I’m not putting words in your mouth but if they were the only 2 options.
Putting the serious shit happening in our real lives aside, I mean thats what football always has been anyway… it would feel like a great injustice against the team who’ve walked the league. there’s absolutely no guarantee that they will do the same next season and I’ll be blunt here, I dont think they will if this gets erased. I think the knock on is going to deflate them like nothing ever has. I mean, we’ve got to include the difficulty that involved in winning back to back PL titles… it’s insanely difficult and for good reason.
I will , no matter what happens here consider this Liverpool team to be champions this season.
As for the PL players. I see they are only negotiating a 30% wage cut. I’m honestly shocked. I hope they will put another 30% towards helping the people who don’t have the wealtrh to help themselves.
I’d say the same about all the far far far richer people out there. The billionaires. I havent heard many of them coming in with serious sums. It tends to be the sport stars with a million here or there, which is mnice but there is a whole other tier of rich that seems to be sitting comfortably.
It’s so easy to not perceive the sheer incredible difference between a millionaire and a billionaire. I think we see them both as being rich but they are not even comparable.
These pe4ople have to help out and pull more than their weight in these times, or they are no good for society. They are just leeches.
Sorry for going off script there, it’s just that it’s kinda hard to have faith in humanity right now. I sometimes wonder if this is when we need football more than ever.
