England captain Harry Kane says the Premier League season should be scrapped if it cannot be completed by the end of June.
All elite football in England is suspended until at least 30 April because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“I know the Premier League will do everything it can to finish the season,” said Tottenham striker Kane.
“There needs to be a point where enough is enough. Probably the limit for me is the end of June.”
‘The only certainty is the uncertainty’ – what next for football?
Kane echoes the thoughts of Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin, who said on Saturday “the season will probably be lost” it if cannot restart before the end of June._____________________________

29th March 2020 at 7:22 pm #92351Adlab, I’m a design engineer. My company policy is for Home Office 5 days a month but since the outbreak they doubled it. Doesn’t make sense to me, I can work easily from home every day.
I think in a couple of weeks if things get worse then the policy will change.

29th March 2020 at 7:32 pm #92353I’ve been ‘Home Office’ for a fortnight now, and my boss reckons we’ll still be doing come end of May. Don’t know about that, not a lot coming in the office right now, and rumours about cut-backs…

29th March 2020 at 7:39 pm #92354I’m working from home. I work in IT but I’d rather be back in work to be honest and going gym etc. Struggling with going the chum. It’s great for the head. Do a good bit of jogging but eating to much at home ?

29th March 2020 at 7:57 pm #92355Been jogging bottoms for two weeks now… I wonder how snug my “office” clobber is going to be…
Not that it’s the biggest problem in the world right now!

29th March 2020 at 8:17 pm #92356I’ve been going to the gym pretty much every day for the last 12 years but last summer I stopped to try home gym and I wished I done it before. I own a chin up bar, two 15kg dumbbells a mat and a pair of gymnast rings and have a far superior work out than I did before. For aerobic I run, cycle or inline skate in the local area.

30th March 2020 at 4:13 am #92358AnonymousKane is just bitter. I’m not really interested in his ability to remain objective. I mean, I’m sure he’d have the same opinion were he a Liverpool player, right 😛
Threeps, Germany clearly has the infrastructure to deal with this problem, at least a few times better than most but even then the deaths there are now over 500. It’s a mistake for Germany to not be in lockdown, in my opinion. They are the main economy within the EU though and I guess they will feel less of the financial hit from this, maybe. So, I hope they are correct. It’ll be good for the EU.

30th March 2020 at 6:02 am #92359Not sure Germany is doing everything correct. For instance it is actually very difficult to get tested, you need to be showing symptoms AND have been in close contact with a known carrier of the virus. Not sure how it is in other countries but this is one of the reason I think we are still in the calm before the storm bit as there could be many many more with the virus.
My girlfriend had a fever a couple of weeks ago so we called the hotline and were told by automated message that no contact with a known carrier means no test. We decided to keep on the line as she works in the health sector and it’s very important she isn’t carrying but after 45 minutes we gave up.
Regarding Kane, he is saying that as Spurs had a terrible season and it’s in his interest it gets wiped. I find it pathetic that certain people in football are arguing either one way or the other only for what seems only their own benefit. Karen Brady being one of the main culprits, wanting the season voided with West Ham in a relegation fight with the prospect of her losing a lot of money.

30th March 2020 at 8:01 am #92360You LiVARberoOol’s fanatics are making me larff!!!
Why would Turkey’s vote for Christmas? Mentioned it enough times, nobody apart from LiVARberoOol’s really care about who gets the trophy, why would they? Everybody is looking out for themselves, just like you Micky Mouser’s are only looking out for LiVARberoOol. Why on earth would the bottom three, all of whom could escape relegation, agree to just freeze the table now you lot get the trophy? You buggers already have 18 of them, and there is a hell of a lot more teams who’ve been waiting a hell of a lot longer than 30 years… and bar YooUtd, don’t have anywhere near 18 in the cabinet already…

30th March 2020 at 8:04 am #92361Sorry Waspy, typo, meant to say been “wearing” jogging bottoms for two weeks now… don’t actually do jogging as such (knees and ankles are pretty much shot to pieces after my rugby and hockey ‘career’). More into the hiking, cycling, swimming side of things… thinking about yoga, to be honest, it’s supposed to be better for the joints plus you get to see all the women in theirs (no Goosey, I won’t be wearing yoga pants myself!).

30th March 2020 at 8:25 am #923633p’s, you either freeze the table or it’s null and void, so it’s the same “rule” for all 20 teams. As much as everybody would love to see all the remaining games played (which would be the best solution for fans, clubs, TV companies et al) where do you draw the line? Nobody really knows how long this situation we find our selves in is going to last, and I’m sure we’re all on the same page with regards to this situation takes precedent, but it can’t simply wait forever.
And if it came down to a vote for Freeze City vs Void Utd, I reckon the majority of clubs would be getting their Void Utd scarfs out the closet (which surprisingly enough in purple with pink spots).

30th March 2020 at 8:45 am #92364I cannot see this situation being sorted by the time next season is due to start, so why give this season an ultimatum to finish? With the World Cup screwing up the 2022 season anyway why not just finish this one when it is possible, be in this summer, this winter or next year.
If the season is void then the European competitions should be void for next season as no one will have officially qualified for it. It would be a travesty if Spurs for instance got a free entry to it after the car crash of a season they have had.
Heard (although not officially) that the big 21 European teams are having a telco today to discuss the options. I assume every European league would need to be aligned on the outcome.

30th March 2020 at 8:47 am #92365Personally I agree with Kane if we can’t get this Season up and running by the end of June which looks very unlikely currently we need to forget it and move on to how and when we might be able to start next season and I think that’s probably the majority view amongst all fans bar some Liverpool fans.
I’m not sure anyway how much interest there would be in a behind doors forced end to the season played on neutral grounds anyway that would likely skew results albeit eventually confirm Liverpool as Champions when that’s known already and would only be enacted to stop Clubs losing millions of £’s in TV monies.
Reality is that the majority of football fans have no interest whatsoever in football whilst people are dying and fighting for their lives all over the country and all over the world and don’t give a stuff about completing this season given the current circumstances.

30th March 2020 at 8:56 am #92367Nine, whilst this situation is undoubtedly bleak and on the minds of everyone I’m pretty sure that the majority of fans have no interest in football “whilst people are dying” is incorrect. We have to still look to the future, be that personal ambitions, jobs, holidays, or even football and sport. Put everything on hold for now, but that doesn’t mean we need to put our future hopes or plans on hold also.

30th March 2020 at 9:09 am #92368Totally agree 3p’s, Spuds should be nowhere near CL for next year, but I think we both know that’s not how it’s going to work. The big clubs are going to screw the small clubs, just like they always do.
My prediction (not meaning I agree with it, btw, just what I think will happen!) is this season will be declared null and void, all Euro Spots will be awarded based on last seasons positions, no relagation, but there will bw automatic promotion for those in the automatic promotion spots… then we’ll have 22 teams with 5 relagation spots, extra matches for the TV compaines, and a slight “re-distribution” of next seasons money (the “20” now being divided into “22” so the TV gets more matches to help make up for the missing games from this seasom for the same cost)….. or something like that! 🙂

30th March 2020 at 9:17 am #92369And with regard’s th 3p’s comment at 8:56, I would agree with him too. Nobody is saying footy MOST start in the current situation, and it would be foolish for everybody not to think about the future. We all want the current situation to resloved as quickly, and more impiortanly, as SAFELY as possible, but assuming this isn’t going to have huge impacts on all aspects of life once it’s over is also a little foolish. I’m already starting to hear things on the grapvine at work which are not good for my personal future, so I need to start thinking about it.

30th March 2020 at 9:22 am #92371this is going to reset so many aspects of life
so many companies will go bust or downsize (airline industry for one) and prices for these reduced services will increase meaning fewer can afford and fewer will have the means to do many other things so all those other industries will be affected, football, clubs will have to do something about wages and fees for a good few years and so on so forth, scary times i feel like that fella from “boys from the blackstuff”….”giza job”_____________________________
