“Spent many days in Dublin and Cork on work. Could have done with an interpreter in Cork”
I’m a Corkman myself and you’re not wrong there ! I’ve a fairly mild accent though myself. What with me living in Canada for the first 9 years of my life and not really losing the accent 100%.. but ya, the accent down here is kinda hilarious TBH.

Health chiefs have accepted an offer from the Premier League champions to harness the facilities at their home ground during the coronavirus pandemic.
City will open up their conference rooms and executive boxes for the duration of the crisis.
A temporary hospital is already being built at the Manchester Central Convention Complex in the city centre in readiness for the expected peak in numbers of infected people needing specialised medical attention.

28th March 2020 at 4:32 pm #92303Anonymous“Also mak is from cork lol.
The English can never understand a thick north side Dublin accent which I have and the country folk lol
The English always can a laugh out of how we pronounce three lol”
I used to spend a lot of time in Dublin. I think we spoke of ,this before but what location are you in? My mam used to live in Coolock, so I’d spend a lot of time there, summers and a lot of weekends etc. The accent is very strong alright. Kinda rough area too , as you’ll know but a lot of characters. I kinda miss it.
For the others on here, we pronounce three kinda correctly down here in Cork… that’s about it though 😛

28th March 2020 at 5:01 pm #92304Back to Cork. One restaurant I used to love was the Arbutus Lodge. Great chef. I think called Ryan. Went every time I was in Cork.

28th March 2020 at 5:09 pm #92305AnonymousSean, I have yet to go to a supermarket. I’ve been putting it off but really should but when you talk about ques etc, is it possible that they are there because they are only letting a few in at a time? If they are all jammed together though… idiots man. I’m not looking forward to going to the supermarket on monday or tuesday.

28th March 2020 at 5:12 pm #92306AnonymousI had to look Arbutus Lodge up. It’s been closed a fair while now and was a high class place in a small but rich area. It’s pretty close t where I am right now actually, although I am definitely not within the bounds of it’s richness 😛

28th March 2020 at 8:11 pm #92312“Espanyol and Atletico Madrid have followed Barcelona in announcing they will apply temporary pay cuts to their players as a result of the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Other Spanish first division clubs are expected to follow suit in the coming days, with Real Valladolid the only one so far to have announced that none of their staff will be subject to cuts.
Barcelona had been unable to reach an agreement with their players, despite their willingness to negotiate a reduction. But the club will unilaterally apply legislation, known as an ERTE, which allows them to temporarily cut wages in exceptional circumstances. Atlético have also applied their wage cuts under this measure.
Jürgen Klopp says he cried when NHS staff sang You’ll Never Walk Alone

A statement issued by Barcelona on Thursday night said the cuts would “essentially reflect a reduction in the working day and thus a proportionate reduction in salary” and would apply to “both sporting and non-sport staff”.It can be long before the same is applied to the PL and Championship etc.

28th March 2020 at 8:26 pm #92313Football seasons around the world have been interrupted by the pandemic.
Now, with most leagues in Europe suspended, one of the continent’s leading figures has warned that the current season could be lost entirely.
Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has suggested that games could be played behind closed doors, but he warned the situation needs to be resolved before July.
“If we don’t succeed in restarting, the season will probably be lost,” the Slovenian said.

28th March 2020 at 9:00 pm #92314“We have a plan A, B or C: to restart in mid-May, in June or at the end of June. If then we wouldn’t be able to do any, the season would probably be lost”
Touch and go on the above basis then Adlab. End of June is not impossible but right now given everything it seems quite optimistic and the players would probably need a 3/4 week build up too.

28th March 2020 at 9:27 pm #92316Maybe the top bods at FIFA & UEFA should be looking at the way they could help the fans that contribute to their massive salaries rather than talking about things the vast majority of fans have now put in the unimportant file. Let’s get through this, take stock of where we are, reboot and then the other things like footy will follow…..Pagan

28th March 2020 at 9:37 pm #92317Pagan to be fair the Football authorities do have to have a plan whether it’s deliverable or not is open to conjecture. But footballs return is certainly not a priority with the majority of football fans given everything.

29th March 2020 at 9:02 am #92322A small tip for those struggling to get provisions. My wife and I have been using the small town/village petrol stations. It’s marked up prices and the selection isn’t very big, but you can get all the essentials, and far lower risk of contamination, and next to no que.
