Sean, to answer your questions, Yes..age 86 yr. Initial contact was when Local health centre and gave us a date and time for first jab, after the jab, they gave us time and date for second.. The UK is giving more jabs than the whole of Europe at the moment although it may not have reached all areas yet, I have confidence that it will ramp up quickly

8th January 2021 at 12:58 pm #173460Nil, unfortunately this current strain is more aggressive and more contagious than the previous strain which is why everything feels much worse.
“Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
There’s a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come trueSomeday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That’s where you’ll find me”_____________________________

11th January 2021 at 2:26 pm #173563“Celtic rumours are in over-drive at the moment since the news yesterday released by the club that there had been a Covid-19 positive result recorded after the ill-advised trip to Dubai.
Celtic released a further statement this afternoon confirming that as a result of this positive test – to injured star Christopher Jullien (who should NOT have been in Dubai anyway given his long term knee injury picked up in the game against Dundee Utd) – 13 first team players plus manager Neil Lennon and Assistant Manager John Kennedy are having to self-isolate.”

11th January 2021 at 5:33 pm #173572“Labour today piled more pressure on Boris Johnson to shut down professional football after players flouted Covid-19 rules again and were accused of losing the ‘moral case’ to continue as infections rise and the NHS struggles to cope.
Social distancing was abandoned at FA Cup games amid wild celebrations in packed dressing rooms at Chorley and Crawley after their giant-killings over the weekend.
Hundreds of fans also gathered outside non-league Marine’s ground on Merseyside yesterday to welcome Spurs before their 5-0 drubbing, with Jose Mourinho filming the packed pavements where many were not wearing face coverings.
And the FA has launched an inquiry following Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze’s appearance at QPR’s cup tie against Fulham without wearing a mask and the authorities insist they did not give the green light for him to attend.
There is ‘growing frustration’ among ministers, who have fought for football after a series of incidents during the festive period in which players from Tottenham, West Ham and Manchester City organised and attended Christmas parties when the rest of the UK was told not to mix.
Labour’s shadow sports minister Alison McGovern told Sportsmail: ‘Sport in this country has taken huge measures to ensure games can go ahead and players and fans are kept safe. But it’s clear that with cases rising across the country, this is becoming increasingly difficult’.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer also hinted towards calling for a sport shut down today when he said it was ‘extraordinary’ that current lockdown measures are not as strict as they were last spring.
With football on the brink, it also emerged today:
Boris Johnson today warned he is ready to tighten lockdown further as he voiced fears that vaccines have made people ‘complacent’ about obeying rules despite the NHS being on the brink of disaster;
Two million Brits have received a coronavirus vaccine as ministers suggested they could set up a round-the-clock jab programme if the public wanted it;
CMO Chris Whitty says that despite mass vaccinations there will still be months of restrictions;
Supermarkets are told to bring back limit on number of customers amid new fears over lockdown rule-breaking;
Huge crowds turned out to welcome Spurs to non-league Marine on Merseyside yesterday where social distancing was abandoned for a match where no fans were allowed inside.”_____________________________

11th January 2021 at 9:05 pm #173582Hi Nil,
Had a break from social media and stuff over Christmas, decided to enjoy it this time. I missed it the year before as I had food poisoning for 10 days and was on the verge of being hospitalised. Although we kept to ourselves for the break it was nice to spend time with the family.
As for the situation, it’s a difficult one for footy, they’re not doing much different to most workplaces except for the testing, so most infections are coming in from their kids or partners and then into the workplace. The problem with pausing the league is it has to finish in time for the Euros So there’s no way to extend the season….Pagan

12th January 2021 at 7:08 pm #173598I basically resigned myself to the fact that like the flu we all bound to get it at some point in time, they even talking about a 3rd and 4th wave, we can’t be lucky forever so imo it’s unavoidable unless the vaccine comes fast and assuming it actually will work. I’m in the age group which is probably last on the list.
