Pagan, that won’t happen City have already won the League Cup.

If the PL can’t be completed which currently looks quite posdible then there’s every chance Liverpool will be awarded the title and there will be a format agreed for deciding CL and EL places.

Suggestions are in respect of promotion and relegation that no Clubs get relegated from the PL this season, two teams are promoted and that there is a 22 team PL next season with 5 Clubs relegated at the end of next season restoring the status quo.

9, what about the play offs? They surely have to happen, so that’s 3 up. Then the Liverpool’s, Chelsea’s, Manchester Clubs will bang on about too many fixtures and still want a winter break.

If the league never happens the league cup can’t have happened either.

For me if the hand a title out without completing the season the it’s a bit like an actor getting an Honory Doctorate, yep he’s got it, but we know it’s not a proper one…..Pagan

Unfortunate for the likes of WBA and Leeds if the season is wiped regarding their promotion aspirations. They may well just start next season as if it was the start of this season. Same teams in each league they currently belong to. The same would happen for the Champions and Europa Leagues. At least though, play Liverpool’s next few games behind closed doors until they have satisfied the mathematics of being a Champion. If first and second were still in a battle like last season then no BUT not giving Liverpool the number 19 considering the dominance would simply be criminal. Surely it would only be United and Everton and the core of their supporters that would begrudge that.

Pagan, I think you might be on a wind up. I’ll play along for a bit though.

The League Cup is not a PL competition it is an EFL competition it’s been won and the trophy presented and it’s not even up for discussion nor should it be as both the PL and the EFL have much bigger fish to fry. But you’re entitled to your opinion.?

There’s was no mention of the Play Offs in the piece I read given all the circumstances rightly or wrongly I can see them dropping by the wayside but who knows we don’t even know if Liverpool will be awarded the title if the PL doesn’t recommence although by rights they should be imo.

If the news today about the Government cancelling all large gatherings which is expected to take out Glastonbury and Wimbledon is accurate if that happens there is no chance of football recommencing in any shape or size until next season at the earliest and even that can’t be certain.

Already bored! No sport and no escape from she who must be obeyed. Before I know it I’ll be cleaning the cooker for something to do! And what can I wind Sean up with?
Seriously though, the impact on industries related to sports events will be effected. Companies that supply the pies! Transport and other hospitality all losing business. The only upside I can think of is injuries will have time to heal.

I’ve been reading some non political science and it looks like that in the UK we are still in the beginning phase – others in the mid to latter phase – of infection spread. Partly because we are an island and less movement. If this is correct what I have read is that we may be peaking in June/July, possibly a bit earlier. If so then unless fixtures are behind closed doors with no crowds anywhere near and pubs etc not allowed to show games then the season is more likely to be void.

3rd April, unless behind closed doors is a non starter. And what about a team who have staff self isolating? All I can think of is that I hope everybody keeps well and we are all here for next season whenever that is.

The problem of giving Liverpool the title is that all games would have to be played or none at all. You cant just give one team a few points. What about top 4, relegation etc.
Liverpool deserve the title. They have been the best team but every other Prem Leaague club would have to agree. Would Utd, City Chesea, Everton agree?
Its a tricky one. Not everybody would be happy and the title would be tainted, not quite real.
But we will just have to wait.

Adlab…I can see no earthly reason for the title to be tainted. There is not one club even close but that is not the point, Liverpool are clear and deserved winners and the title should be awarded to them in the traditional manner. We are in a unreal situation where you have to be pragmatic about these things and not try and work out permutations of the IFS, WHENs and WHYs. I repeat an earlier remark I would freeze the league NOW, its over. In the situation everybody is in, there will be more losers than winners, but also consider, they are not giving Liverpool the title…they won it, it is not even debatable in my view. I would be very cross with City if they objected or looked for something different, however, not in my dreams would I think they will do that, we have a very respectful management. Therefore…the title would not or will be tainted from my point of view as a City fan I know you have said that Liverpool deserve the title to your credit, I would not expect any City fan to feel different but I do not agree with the proposition the title would be tainted

Agree with Brian award Liverpool the title and call the season over then come up with a formula to decide European places and promotion and relegation across all Divisions.

By tainted, I dont mean undeserved but not quite properly won. There would always be the slight nagging sense of unsatisfaction. I hope the season can be completed and Liverpool get their just reward. But if the season was incomplete there would always be that smallest of small doubts.

Mak-Please take me off that list of oppo fans that want the season cancelled so Liverpool doesnt win the title.I dont want to go a week without PL football,let alone for God knows how long,and Liverpool have deserved the title as they are the best team in the country and 25 pnts ahead. I agree with Brian & 9s,call the season off & hand Liverpool the title,then make preps for the next season.

I’ve heard that if the League is voided that no trophies will be handed out, and no promotions or relegations will happen, however due to the fact that Liverpool are so far ahead the Premier League are going to going to make a one off trophy to recognise the victory they should have had. In short Liverpool will win the Victory And Recognition Trophy…..Pagan
