29th December 2020 at 4:52 pm #172952threes…..I post and watch football because it is being played, I, cannot do anything about that. As to Covid. I will only re state my position in case you do not understand. Health and safety must come first above anything, if risks are not to be ignored or challenged then the position will get worse. If you disagree with that, well it is your opinion . You appear to have a problem with City and probably me, that is OK but it will not stop me posting unless you continue with the personal attacks

29th December 2020 at 4:55 pm #172955Lucky…I should have said the GREED comment was more connected to the TV companies and the sponsors moe than clubs, particularly the smaller clubs. the big ones will survive some way

29th December 2020 at 5:19 pm #172957Sheff Utds game is still on
I think the problem is city game was called off with only a few hours before kick off. Fans were due on the stadium
Adlab would be going mad if it was the other way around

29th December 2020 at 5:28 pm #172958Would love to know what you City fans think I’m arguing against. I have stated why I think Everton have asked for full disclosure. I never said anything about City being in the wrong, whether the game should of been played or not, or what my thoughts on the safety is. I have stated the Premier League regulations. These include health and safety to probably the highest level. Again not my opinion on health and safety. They also state the conditions of postponement due to Covid. Not regular injuries, and again not my opinion.
Brian, gjblues and Adlab your replies have made no sense whatsoever. Its like you have made something up in your head that you now feel obliged to defend against. So if you want to continue like that then I will walk from this site, not because I feel offended, but because I can’t be bothered discussing with fucking idiots.

29th December 2020 at 5:44 pm #172960Mav, Orient had to forfeit the game because Orient couldn’t field a team and fixture congestion meant it couldn’t be rescheduled that’s not the same as the United v City Semi Final because the Final isn’t until April and therefore it can be rescheduled very easily.

29th December 2020 at 6:07 pm #1729649s-True re Orient`s case, but isnt there a rule that state that only games in certain rounds of the competition can be forfeited? I think I read somewhere that only until the compo reaches the 4th round games can be forfeited.

29th December 2020 at 6:44 pm #172970“Spurs match with Fulham on Wednesday is in doubt following a number of positive coronavirus tests, according to reports. Fulham are one of at least three Premier League clubs to have reported positive cases in the latest round of tests. The Premier League confirmed on Tuesday that there has been 18 positive tests in total – the highest amount since the pandemic began.” Express.

29th December 2020 at 6:53 pm #172971Threeps. Mostly I agree with you and you generally make sensible comments. Let me be as clear as I can. My issue is not with Everton asking for information and clarification. Iam happy with that but perhaps it was the wording and tone of their statement. There was innuendo that somehow the decision was not given correctly and that it was a benefit to City and detriment to Everton Yes it was late but the virus spread is getting out of control and like the government are going to have to do (if they have the courage) unpopular decisions have to be taken.
If it was the other way round I have been disappointed but honestly would have understood it and hoped that nobody and any of their family was seriously ill. I felt sorry for Newcastle having to play us at the weekend with a team hit by the virus. If it had been called off I would have been
disappointed but would have understood.
PS Nearly as much controversy as VAR!_____________________________

29th December 2020 at 7:36 pm #172974Threeps, come on, you’re better than that last comment. I can’t claim to have read much of this thread but there’s really no need to call them that.
Lucky, like Nine, I hope you reconsider. You’d be sorely missed on here.

30th December 2020 at 8:10 am #172984Several leading football figures calling for a postponement of all fixtures, think this is understandable as the virus is way worst this time than the first wave when all games were postponed for weeks.

30th December 2020 at 9:44 am #172986I apologise that I seem to have come in on this discussion a little late, some moderator I am! As far as I can see, it is an argument over nothing. I think the City lads main gripe is the wording of Everton’s statement and what it implies, and I think we can all agree that it could be significantly improved upon. As long as the rules of postponement are the same for everyone, then there should be no issues. I don’t profess to understand the rules of when a game gets postponed, and frankly I have little interest in researching it, but I imagine that the affected club has to apply to the PL stating their situation, and the League makes the decision…end of!
However, Gary, I have to pull you up on one point where you say ‘what happens if other players are asymptomatic, then it would spread’. Well, isn’t that the case all of the time? In that case, we should just stop playing completely…is that what you are saying? My club had a couple of cases earlier in the season with Mo, Mane, Thiago and Keita all contracting the virus, so should all our games have been postponed in case other players were asymptomatic. I would say not, and I’m with Lucky in saying that the risk to these fit young men is in fact minimal. And I would add to that by saying that football is one of the very few things about at the moment that enables people to momentarily forget the dreadful situation that we are all in. It is providing a release, certainly for me not having worked for 3 months now, and I’m sure for millions others. It’s a moot point though, as I feel it inevitable that the season will once again be postponed.
Finally, I would urge threeps, Lucky, Brian, Shiney et al who have taken part in this discussion to draw a line in it, and just look at what we are arguing about.. It’s not really that important whether a game is postponed or not, and all your inputs on this site are far more valuable.
