Football bosses and Sky/BT/Amazon need to take a good hard look at themselves ,before people on this site start to lose friends and family again . I’ve stopped watching Spurs games and football in general after another close friend contracted Covid and is fighting for his life, it’s insanity games are still being played or are clubs so desperate for money lives don’t count anymore ???

29th December 2020 at 9:35 am #172919Everton have shown themselves to be an utterly classless outfit showing no concern for those with the virus. Displicable

29th December 2020 at 10:04 am #172920We ask people politely to keep their distance. They just think it’s business as usual It’s a ‘me me me’ society with only a minority sparing a thought for others. Lock everything down and go back to how it was in March.

29th December 2020 at 10:37 am #172922Really don’t understand the issue with Everton. Sure if the roles were reversed City would ask the question.

29th December 2020 at 10:42 am #172923threes…..football thinks only of itself and not the consequences. TV companies as well.
The fixture is not lost, it will be played at some point.Really surprised at Evertons response, no matter what they have done and organised if the medical advice is not to play that should not be doubted, life is more important._____________________________

29th December 2020 at 11:10 am #172927Personally I don’t think whether footie carries on behind closed doors or not that it will have any real effect on rate of transmissions nationally so for me its about whether cases amongst players, coaches and officials are below a certain level to maximise safety but if I can drive to McDonald’s and get a hamburger why can’t I turn on my TV and watch footie? The players union will look out for players.
Its not greed to try to prevent losing hundreds of millions of pounds in an industry rich with turnover but short on profit

29th December 2020 at 12:20 pm #172929I don’t think Everton have come out and said life isn’t important (a touch over dramatic comment however when you consider how low a risk to life professional footballer face from Covid), you’re just using that as a stick to bash Everton with because you feel aggrieved by their actions. Actions I believe every club would do. As for the greed accusations that is ridiculous. If you are so against football playing at the moment why are you continuing to post about City and their league and Cup ambitions for the season? Hypocritical perhaps?
I read if City cannot play their league Cup game they will not forfeit it, odd given that Spurs were given a bye when Leyton Orient couldn’t play for the exact same reasons.

29th December 2020 at 1:50 pm #172934Threep’s. My disappointment is that Everton failed to say that they hoped all staff were as well as could be and were recovering well. I would have made that my first comment rather than question the validity of the decision to postpone the game. That shows true colours.
Looks like there are more positive tests today as well._____________________________

29th December 2020 at 1:52 pm #172935The Premier League has returned its highest number of positive coronavirus tests of the season, with 18 new cases.
Between December 21 and 27, 1,479 players and club staff were tested and those 18 individuals who have the virus will now self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

29th December 2020 at 3:25 pm #172943Yeah read that Mav after a quick Google search. Also read that the Premier League rules state that a game can only be postponed if a team has less than 14 first team players available. A player being regarded as first team if they have played a single minute of first team football, no matter if they are usually regarded as u23 or u18. Everton are asking if that is the case or if City have been given a special dispensation to postpone. You really cannot blame them for asking.
As for not wishing City staff and or players to get better sounds like a very childish arguement. Maybe they did privately? What does it matter?

29th December 2020 at 3:27 pm #172944Small fish big fish.
City are the holders, it’s a glamour Semi Final v United and it was very very iunlikely that Orient would have gone through.

Threeps, I feel you are completely missing the point – City could well have fielded a team but how the F*** does anyone know if those players that played were Asymptomatic or not. If any were and then passed on Covid to the Everton players, Everton would be in exactly the same position as us.
Just in case you didn’t know, this virus is very contagious._____________________________
