“WE’RE BACK! Fans back in stadiums from NEXT WEEK Boris Johnson confirms β with up to 4,000 set to be allowed to attend in lowest-risk areas.”
Not sure about the wisdom of this or that it will make much difference to the Clubs.
We’re still a long long way from getting back to anything like normality in terms of a fans return to Stadiums and progress probably rests on the vaccine.

25th November 2020 at 6:03 pm #170870Really sad with more famous people dying. In many ways, 2020 has been a horrible year.

25th November 2020 at 6:52 pm #170874Nike. So true a truly crap year.
4000? The issue is not so much fans in the stadiun but the throng on public transport etc getting there and back. Also 4000 in Old Trafford…no issue. 4000 at Lincoln or Stockport = major issue. But it will be a start.
I think after so much tragedy we should wait for the vaccines. Would I go? No, not yet. Too many people. Only takes one on a tram or bus and woosh infection._____________________________

25th November 2020 at 7:56 pm #170878Adlab, it’s likely our City will be moved to Tier 3. In the Grand Scheme of the situation, I’m not surprised and taking all into account, a sensible move.
The social mixing is of a forever confusion to me.
It’s Logistics.

25th November 2020 at 8:04 pm #170881Adlab, here’s the proposal yet to be finally ratified:
It has been reported that 4,000 spectators or 50% capacity limits – whichever is lowest – would be place in Tier 1, dropping to 2,000 or 50% for indoor venues.
In Tier 2, it has been reported it would be 2,000 outdoors and 1,000 indoors, or 50% capacity.
In Tier 3 no fans will be allowed back in the ground.

26th November 2020 at 12:59 pm #170906It will be interesting how they decide who gets tickets as government advice is not to travel if youβre in tier 3……Pagan

26th November 2020 at 1:56 pm #170908Will clubs in tier 3 be allowed to pipe in fake home fan noise equivalent to 4,000 fans worth? What a farce…

26th November 2020 at 3:02 pm #170911All dependent on the tiers Sean which are only relevant until December 14th currently anyway.
It would be 2,000 fans at the Bridge and 2,000 in Anfield . But Bristol City for instance currently aren’t allowed any fans because Bristol has gone up to Tier 3. Not sure what will happen about allocations to away fans if anything.
All as clear as mud!π

26th November 2020 at 3:42 pm #170914No way will there be away fans, existing season ticket holders will be balloted by the clubs. The main problem will be fans that live in a tier 3 area wanting to go to games in tier 1 or 2. Will the clubs have to be post code selective?….. Pagan

26th November 2020 at 4:11 pm #170915Interestingly, so far, there’s been a fair few away victories. I wonder by having fans back in whether this will significantly influence outcomes of matches; in particular if away fans were not allowed.

26th November 2020 at 5:18 pm #170919Nil, there will only be currently a maximum of 2,000 fans in a Stadium which would create a very limited atmosphere imo .
I think Pagan has probably got it spot on the tickets will probably go to home season ticket holders by ballot these will have to be checked to ensure fans aren’t coming from tier 3 areas.
Even if the normal allocation of 10% was applied which currently I think is unlikely it would only provide an allocation of 200 tickets to away fans.
Additionally even in Churches hymns are not allowed to be sung so Club songs and chants may sensibly not be allowed.

26th November 2020 at 7:35 pm #170923Nine, I’m perceiving that figure differently to you mate. I don’t think the 2000 is a drop in the ocean, and if anything, there’ll be volume. These fans presumably as Season Ticket Holders have been used to attending for years and for not being able to attend for months, will mean making up for a lot of lost time – could be some songs sung too.
Cheers

26th November 2020 at 7:51 pm #170926I think it depends on how theyβre distributed in the stadium, 2000 in one main stand is totally different to 2000 distributed around the whole stadium.
Personally I think they can get far more in stadiums and be well within the social distancing guidelines, the problem is always going to be the logistics of getting fans to and from the grounds whilst staying in the guidelines, keeping 2000 fans socially distanced in a stadium is one thing, keeping them distanced at the nearest transport hub is another….Pagan

26th November 2020 at 9:42 pm #170929Until we get the Virus under control I do not think fans should be allowed. Whatever the reason the prime aim is to defeat the virus, the sooner we get it done the sooner we get life back, this only adds to the risk. I know it is not what many want to hear but life is more important and the country is nowhere near controlling this yet, so why are we adding to the risk for the sake of a 90 minute football match? get the problem under control first, we are nowhere near that. If I get my jab next month it will be 6 weeks before it is effective in the body and a further 6 months to see if side effects develop,, that maybe a risk worth taking but it will also take months before the vaccine gets to all, certainly the season will be at an end then
