2nd November 2020 at 1:16 pm #169561AnonymousMav… Mind boggling numbers. Probably a club strategy to shame players into accepting lower wages. Wolves Semedo is probably cheap at the price.
They’ll find it difficult to offload players, no wonder they dumped Suarez, what would he have been on.
Can see why they want a super league now.

2nd November 2020 at 2:49 pm #169569Can’t see any reason to postpone the season currently.
Football has done coping with thr Corona Virus after the break and continues to do so if there was a wide run of infections on players and back room staff then there would be a reason to consider it.
But currently there’s no reason at all to postpone the season indeed it’s good for a large slice of the population to have football as an escape route given the new lockdown.

2nd November 2020 at 3:28 pm #169571Nine..haave to respectfully disagree about Lockdown and football.. If we are to be in Full Lockdown, then it should be for everyone, football has no special status. If people are so dependent on football they should divert there energies to helping people wherever they can and find something to concentrate on in the home. I know this is hard for fans, I include myself, but the fact is, this is a serious situation and deserves serious attention to detail The Politicians have lots of ideas what to do but not one has a solution, because non exist at this time except to make it as difficult as possible for the Virus to spread. People being people will still be asking how will it affect my Christmas/Holidays etc and not make a big effort to follow advise. We can all disagree on aspects of how to to deal with the Pandemic…that is not what we want…we need a clear plan, everybody sticks with it, like it or not and those that foot it dealt with, including making the work in A&E for a month, even if it cleaning up
Sorry Nine, I am grumpy to day

2nd November 2020 at 3:47 pm #169574At the moment I can’t see them stopping footy at the top level, if things get worse generally or we start to see cases within teams then there will be a choice to make, pause the season or make teams bubble together…. pagan

2nd November 2020 at 4:09 pm #169575I’m with you, 9. I see no reason to stop the football at the moment. With their regular testing etc, the players are as safe as can be, but more importantly, again as 9 says, the football is providing a welcome release for millions of people, myself included. God knows, there is little enough to get excited about at the moment or even talk about, other than bloody Covid, lockdowns and infection rates. I honestly believe that assisting the mental health of people is an important role for football at the moment. It’s all very well, Brian, to say that the situation is serious and that people should find something else to concentrate on at home, but why can’t football give them that something to concentrate on? If you’re on the 14th floor of a tower block in Salford, things would be pretty grim. Football is fun, it gives us something to read about, talk about and watch – why should you take this away from them?

2nd November 2020 at 4:58 pm #169576Brian, we all have grumpy days me included.😊
The reason we are going into lockdown is to bring down the R and to relieve the potential impact on the NHS.
If stopping football was going to help the above in any meaningful way I would happily support closing it down but I can’t see it will and more importantly I think it will acts as a mental fillip to millions of people whilst we’re in lockdown.
On a personal note maintaining football is also of considerable benefit to my wife and I suspect many other wives around the country as it encourages me to leave her in peace to watch her programmes whilst I retire to my man cave to watch the football.😊 Cheers 9’s

2nd November 2020 at 6:00 pm #169577Agree with HH and nine but just on the subject of needing to end the season early, I read that the clubs have already agreed that if 50% of the season has been played then final positions will be based on points per game, less than then 50% then they will void the season.

2nd November 2020 at 6:23 pm #169579Can anybody explain why people panic buy toilet rolls? We make them here and there is absolutely no shortage. They must all be City fans with uncontrollable nerves before a game!
But why toilet rolls. I mean how many can you use in a week?_____________________________

2nd November 2020 at 7:35 pm #169581Brian-Spot on,if there is a lockdown for ordinary peeps then it has to be a rule for sports people too.Just look at teams like Shakhar,Ajax-they all have huge numbers of infections, these people have families,friends,women/men on the side, etc, which adds to the numbers.

2nd November 2020 at 7:39 pm #169582Adlab-City have nerves before a game? Imagine United fans, thinking how many we are gonna get spanked by,3 against Palace,6 against Spuds, and should have conceded at least 5 against Brighton.Stonewall denied to Chelsea,Pogba and Maguire still playing,Shaw utterly useless, the list goes on.
ps:Ed being a pain in the Arsenal.

2nd November 2020 at 7:50 pm #169583The maker of top-selling toilet roll Andrex has moved to reassure customers concerned about shortages during England’s second coronavirus lockdown.
When the pandemic struck in March, shoppers reported difficulty in finding toilet paper after panic-buying emptied supermarket shelves.
But this time, Kimberly-Clark said it was fully ready, with 100 million rolls in UK warehouses.
The firm said that whatever happened, it was “prepped for stockpiling”.
“Even back in March, when supermarket orders more than doubled overnight (from 60 to 132 orders per day), supplies of Andrex never ran out,” it added.
Phew!

2nd November 2020 at 8:08 pm #169584Adlab…must be something wrong if you do not have nerves before a game, I am not the nervous type but they do tingle before kick off. As to City fans well i think there are more than a few that carry Andrex with them!!!!!

2nd November 2020 at 8:21 pm #169587Nine…my wife has similar affections for the game since I banned her, from City games at least
It is quit cosy in my “mans room”. complete with sign on the door. “MY ROOM”…the downside is I have to clean it myself!!! Probably the best solution because I have my music stuff in thereAs to the Pandemic, I just break it down to the following
1. Have we got one…..YES. 100%
2. Is it dangerous. Yes. 100 %
3. Is there a cure……No…not for another two years if you allow time for after effect period to be proven or otherwise
4. What can we do about it…..use common sense and follow the rules
5 Does anybody have an answer….NO …but a new industry has started in statistics which are only good from the minute it established and then there will always be caveats
6. What can Governments do that they are not doing now….Resign!!!!! Actually, I feel sorry for them, with no answers and money running out and everyone and his dog wants more
7. It also prooves a point to me that there are too many people on this small island to support_____________________________

3rd November 2020 at 6:11 am #169592So we wake up this morning to multiple sad shocking news but nothing new, the evil cruelty of this pandemic, terrorism and gender based violence haunts us on a daily basis. I want to bury my head to all these atrocities committed by the devils driven subjects.
