Mikus…I remember great headers of the ball, that is the old very heavy, covered in mud ball fired in for somebody to get there head on. I was surprised they did not collapse on the spot. It does need resolving but also takes something away from the game but a price has to be paid for safety. It will happen….eventually or when the legal action hots up

25th May 2020 at 2:56 pm #113445Sean, I have a bit more sympathy with Cumminngs who was acting as a parent for the welfare of his child as opposed to Neil Ferguson who was having an affair. The whole problem for me is the government put too much fear out there. I mean some of the messages put out there saying just by going outside you’ll effectively kill people, was a bit ridiculous. I know many are understandably angry about the hypocrisy, and I sympathise with them too who made sacrifices not to see other family members, but as I say, the root of the problem was the ridiculous fear put out by government which the government itself has now got tangled up in.

25th May 2020 at 3:12 pm #113446No I totally agree it’s not unique to the uk Brian.
Our government are no saints at all
So many mistakes made by us
Problem is pagan, that’s exactly what politics is about for the majority of mps
Fair points mikius but what if the child got infected then infected the grand parents?
I actually understand their concerns but what have other families being doing?
Isn’t travel restricted to reduce the transmission of the disease?
Just all a bit messy. It’s soneyhing the government can do without
But as Brian says, other governments aren’t covering themselves in glory. So many mistakes have been made in so many countries

25th May 2020 at 4:15 pm #113448Double B… I thought it was a great idea to raise a bit of cash for worthy causes myself… personally, if I have the cash, I’d be putting picking famous people all over the place for a bit of a laugh. Donald sitting next to Obama, Putin sitting next to Gandhi, Belinda sitting on my face…

25th May 2020 at 4:19 pm #113450There was never going to be a perfect solution to suit everybody, just like there’s not a perfect solution for sorting out the season or any of the millions of other ramifications the current crisis has. Some countries have dealt with it a lot better than others, and I think that reflects more on the societies of those countries more than anything else. For example, would the majority of people in the UK accept the New Zealand solution to this? I doubt that very much. Look at the US and all the “Freedom” Warriors. As somebody once said, “Society moves as quickly as its slowest members”…

25th May 2020 at 5:27 pm #113452Even funnier Goosey, he’s already been on the blower to Sir Harry who’s packing his bags according to some cyber nonsense…
Would be interesting to see how he gets up there (and if he’ll send Danny Rose back down Sarff!!) if he does go though, that’s a proper re-build job.

25th May 2020 at 8:05 pm #113457Adlab Pt 2 The media have a story that will run for x days be it true, false and that is all that matters, nothing much else to write about and this will titalate many.
My view is he may have got his personal reasons right but his actions wrong. Given the same situation I wonder how many of us would have made the same decision, not easy to answer. I am missing my family, my son in law is close to death and I cannot get to see my daughter or to say goodbye….in that context it is unfair and many more like us.Out of respect for all, he should consider his position as a “Advisor” to our PM The country come first when in a position of authority like he is

25th May 2020 at 8:16 pm #113459Since February this year I have lost 3 close friends and now have son in law just about to go
I would like to add though that none of these are about CV19 so may upset statistics in a small way
A depressing time but it makes me fight a bit harder and appreciate life each day, so, if I read like I am anti everything, I am not…well maybe our media and politicians and all the consultants, experts who bleed the country dry for guesswork I will be more cheerful next post..promise_____________________________

25th May 2020 at 10:06 pm #113461Thanks Chuky really appreciate your words. I smile now when I think about it, my three friends, my golfing friends all badgered me to retire earlier like them, I was almost 77 when I retired,9myears ago, now they have gone and I could not face a golf club now even if I had strength to pick it up and swing it Some great memories though

26th May 2020 at 8:02 am #113462Mikus- “I have a bit more sympathy with Cummings” why would you have sympathy for someone who holds the British public in utter contempt and wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire. The man is a virus.

26th May 2020 at 8:18 am #113463Anonymouscummings may have done wrong by the guidelines but he did the right thing by his family. I don’t believe a single person that says they wouldn’t do the same if the health of their family was at risk. I am fairly certain most of these people criticising him, have broken the guidelines because most people in the country have. I have a friend whose wife is petitioning for cummings to resign for breaking lockdown rules despite her going round to her parent’s house several times a week with her newborn baby. but it’s ok because she stays 6ft away from them. how hypocritical can you get? it’s very easy for people to say he’s wrong and a disgrace but many out there who are criticising him and doing worse and the majority would do the same.
looking at all the reporters at the press conference yesterday – were they needed there? was it really essential they made the journey? not one of them brought anything to the table with all of them asking the exact same question over and over again. i get they want him to resign because that’s all they are good for and they wont stop unit they get what they want
