The only thing that will stop the PL starting now are the Government guidelines re the lockdown not being met between now and whenever is the restart date in June and/or multiple Clubs having to go into isolation pre the restart.
Both the PL and Government for different reasons are pushing to restart and rightly or wrongly that will make it happen.
The Bundesliga starts on Saturday and it will be intersting to see how that goes.
Starting might still be the easiest part though let’s hope not.
Best of luck to all in football endeavouring to make it happen.

15th May 2020 at 8:36 am #112280If Project Restart starts and finishes I suspect there will be some strange results after so many weeks off.
The most important thing though over and above the results and where everyone finishes is that the players stay safe and nobody suffers any lasting damage and the same applies to all the European Leagues too.

15th May 2020 at 9:09 am #112302Nine, ye mate, I’ll tune into Dortmund v schalke tomorrow to see what it’s like.
I can’t see the pl starting anytime soon. I’ve no doubt we will see a big spike when some restrictions are lifted in the uk.
Same as ireland nine mate. Numbers are very low but I think once Monday happens, people will Get very complacent.
If we have to back a phase here then people will go crazy. The numbers here are very very positive but I just can’t see them staying down when restrictions are lifted

15th May 2020 at 10:01 am #112339Keep them dacks on 442 😉 with you all the way. Players should boycott in my opinion. The current situation with the virus does not in any way justify the risk. The Prime Minister was close to death at one stage ffs.

15th May 2020 at 11:06 am #112382Sean, I’m sure I’ll watch the Dortmund game too more out of interest in how it all feels more than anything else.
I can’t say I’m looking forward to football in empty Stadiums when the PL returns and it just all feels much too early and too rushed to me I just hope we don’t live to regret it.
As you say none of us know what the results of lifting the lockdown will be let’s hope everyone is sensible and we don’t go backwards. Stay safe buddie both you and yours Cheers 9’s

15th May 2020 at 1:00 pm #112460Mav, of course that’s the alternative but both the PL and the Government are dead set on getting football in England up and running.

15th May 2020 at 2:39 pm #112527“League Two’s season has been brought to an early conclusion following discussions between clubs and the English Football League.
The final table will be decided using a points-per-game method, but promotion and relegation has yet to be finalised.
There are still plans for the play-offs to take place as usual, with two-legged semi-finals and then a final.
Meanwhile, teams in League One will have to meet again on Monday after failing to come to an agreement.
On Thursday, six third-tier clubs had said they were determined to complete their remaining fixtures.” BBC Football 15/05

15th May 2020 at 3:56 pm #112575I have a question
What if the FA/EPL and Govt say go ahead and play behind closed doors in June.
If some of the players from each club did not want to take the risk, how will this be treated? They cannot penalise them in any way unless they give 100% guarantees on safety..they will not do that and have already printed disclaimers, although this is dressed up another way.How are they going to handle the “die hard” fans that turn up. The Police apparently have said they have no problem with it but at the same time they have no power to stop a crowd not social distancing….so….what laws apply, who is responsible if actions take place by fans? The FA/EPL. the club. Local Council ,Police or the fans???????
I guess it will be down to another “Enquiry” to keep MPs and lawyers busy
OR, do you think nothing will happen and it will pass peacefully

Interesting see what the clubs stances are regarding the season. If we can assume the article is accurate of course.

16th May 2020 at 1:32 am #112944AnonymousEveryone still healthy?
My own opinion about things in general is that countries are opening too quickly. Economies decide leaders and leaders want to remain in power, so bad decisions are being made.
we’ve seen some good progress from the shut downs , mostly. We’ve got to keep going with them for another month in my opinion. The second you ease off on restrictions, even the slightest, people will take the piss.
there are drunk assholes running up and down my street as I type this.

16th May 2020 at 9:48 am #113220I think players have every right to have an opinion on all this whether they be Harry Kame or Troy Deeney both of whom are PL Captains.
Garry Neville is paid to have opinions and imo is probably the best pundit on TV what I like most about him is that he says it how he sees it and despite his affection for United isn’t afraid to criticise them from the Boardroom down unlike one or two others pundits.
