Definite penalty. Liverpool the best team on the day.Impressed with Nunez since he’s been on.

30th July 2022 at 7:19 pm #197155Nine…agree…booing the National Anthem was a disgrace, they should be found and deported somewhere if they do not like our country…whoever they are. I also think it is an act of cowardice

30th July 2022 at 7:35 pm #197157I would never boo the anthem but again I would never sing it either. God and the queen, two things I have zero interest in. Should be a song about the nation and the people.
Think those Liverpool fans booing are doing it as a protest against the establishment who have been seen as against them since Thatchers 80s, through to the Hillsborough blame and cover up and to feeling of today of being treated unfairly.

30th July 2022 at 7:44 pm #197158Commiserations Adlab, Brian and the rest of the City guys on here. Surprisingly, we looked more hungry and determined today.
So so delighted after weeks of no football and losing the CL. Real pleased on the impact of Nunez. My only standout criticism is not enough shots in application from the midfield and relying on the final 3rd. Fantastic the Salah saga was sorted because this is what we reap when he’s on peak.
Now it’s over to the Ladies tomorrow. Come On England!!!!!

30th July 2022 at 7:47 pm #197159I was speaking to a bloke in his 60s about how the FA Cup Final as well as the Charity Shield used to be. One of which was receiving an acknowledgement from a member of the Royal Family. There was always a strong element of a Royal connection to these particular occasions.
I don’t know how the booing has come about of late, but for me, that shouldn’t really happen and it’s disappointing taking the shine of both curtain closures and raisers.

31st July 2022 at 5:31 am #197161Gents and Liverpool supporters. Why has such a great club and national institution become so small minded. I think Klopp doesn’t help here. Why boo the National Anthem?
Also does yesterday really impact on the upcoming season?.
I mean well done for the win but the reaction including the media is so over the top its pathetic.
Like last season we are behind in preparation. A deliberate policy to give more rest . Who was it who said Marathon not a sprint. I’m sure we all know._____________________________

31st July 2022 at 8:05 am #197162Itβs quite evident as threeps described in his post why lfc fans boo the national anthem. The city suffered terribly under the thatcher regime. Biros Johnson also called the city victims. Always the victim refers to hills borough. Itβs constantly chantrd and the prime minister mentioned it ffs. So no wonder lfc fans despise the government
What has Klopp done now adlab? Another absolutely childish post from you. Whose going overboard? It was more or less a friendly. Great game to watch. Two Fantastic sides and it was a great game. A clear as pen as you will see. Remember if we are going to be like kids about stonewall decisions then city won the league last season because the ref didnβt give a stonewall pen at Everton. You need to give it over. Your so bitter when you should be just enjoying watching this fabulous city team win trophies.

31st July 2022 at 8:17 am #197163One thing adlab is there will be a complete over analysis of Nunez goal and hallands chances after that game. Itβs silly. Itβs one game. Iβve absolutely no doubt halland will score a load. Thought Nunez did well. One game nothing to get over excited about

31st July 2022 at 8:49 am #197166Sean. Klopp ranting like a banshi at the fourth official etc. This was the Community Shield not the EPL decider.
And that disreputable bozo PM we still have represents nothing. A liar and a charlatan. But booing the National Anthem is booing the Queen. Sorry but just not good enough.
However the match was OK for a first game and both teams put in plenty of effort. Liverpool were definitely ahead due to their earlier preseason. This morning the press have decided that Nunez is better than Haaland. After one warmup game???
I remember last season’s opener v Spurs. We lost 1-0 with half the team unavailable. That was it said the press. Liverpool will win the title easily they said!_____________________________

31st July 2022 at 9:31 am #197167It’s only 1 unimportant game but Haaland does remind me of Torres at Chelsea. Hope not. Guess time will tell.

31st July 2022 at 9:57 am #197169Forget about the smack against the crossbar that was just unlucky can happen to any striker. What was noticeable was how Haaland wanted to run off the shoulder of the last defender in behind. He has bags of pace and this is how he has always played. City for thr last season played with no striker and before that with Augero who came deep and linked up with others. This is the point I made when City bought Haaland, he doesn’t at the time suit the way City play. And this isn’t just based on watching one game. You can have the best player in the World but if the tactics don’t suit him he won’t perform as you’d hope.
So something has to give, either Haaland changes or City do. You would think City bought him to maximise his skillet so will change their tactics but as we saw with Grealish Pep is very rigid with his approach and expects the player to change. And again as seen with Grealish this can be difficult for a player to do.
I have the same concerns about Nunez as he is differwmt to Bobby but have always said the issue isn’t as big as Klopp is more flexible. There already have been subtle changes moving away from two wide scorers using space the false 9 provides template. Was impressed with Nunez’s movement yesterday and let’s hope it gives him confidence for the league.

31st July 2022 at 11:00 am #197170Winning the Charity shield is not important although you would never say it the way both teams and Klopp in particular behaved, the main thing is that it’s for charity and it seems to be forgotten.

31st July 2022 at 11:04 am #197171City looked significantly undercooked whereas Liverpool looked ready to go.
I was very impressed with Nunez.
City are consistently slow burners at the start of the season and it will take awhile for Haaland and the City players to get used to each other but I’m sure Haaland will ultimately score plenty of goals.
Whatever the reasons if you want to live in England and enjoy all the benefits of living in England then people should respect the National Anthem. Don’t sing it if you don’t want to but booing it is unacceptable.

31st July 2022 at 11:17 am #197172My last word on the “booing”. The National Anthem is played for ALL the nation and the Queen not just for football fans, it is not the time or place to show such poor behaviour to millions who watch and listen.I hope it does not continue and develop as a “norm”.

31st July 2022 at 11:29 am #197174Think the City chanting murderers and always the victim should be more of a concern than booing the anthem. At least the anthem booing has reason behind it rather than just trying to be as shit a human being to another as possible. Sadly this vile chanting has already become the “norm” with the clubs from Manchester.
