Well, Lithuania later today. Now that we have nailed qualification, I wonder what team will be put out. I would imagine some players out there will want some time out so that they can prepare for the next PL game which is understandable as they wouldn’t want to risk injury.

8th October 2017 at 12:25 pm #5898Any team that doesn’t contain Stones, Walker or Sterling is fine by me. All sterling and stones get is flack from so called expert pundits and England fans who just don’t appreciate them and I don’t want them risking injury playing some pointless game now that we have qualified. He needs to give some youngsters a go. But he won’t he will play the same players who will be even less inclined to make an effort chase things down and risk trying creative things. Southgate is a poor manager in my eyes. But i except he hasn’t a lot to work with. He needs to break with tradition and try out soome young lads in midfield especially.

8th October 2017 at 1:16 pm #5901Jim, yes a perfect opportunity to try something else. It will be tricky away from home, but as we’ve both highlighted, qualification is already secured, so nothing to lose in essence, but some experimenting can be done.

8th October 2017 at 5:15 pm #59027 changes, 3 at the back and Winks alongside Henderson . Credit to Southgate for that.

8th October 2017 at 7:19 pm #5903First of all a bow to Harry Kane as he’s been a true lion, and a leader setting a fine example.
Sure, it was boredom and we were limited to quality naturally because of the changes and the youngsters, but Southgate at least fielded 2 more experienced players in Henderson and Kane and individuals to support the rest of the reshuffled pack.
Bit of a depressing weekend overall as admittedly, I don’t like the disruption of International breaks, but I felt tonight, the opportunity of bringing in the kids were rightly introduced and that’s a big positive. I do hope this has not been treated as simply gap filling, but Southgate has noted everything presented to him and those kids are welcomed further opportunities in the future.

8th October 2017 at 9:33 pm #5906We were never going to get a great performance making 7 changes and making a significant tactical change to three at the back.
Southgate’s job now is to look at who he can add to the squad between now and the summer and established his best tactics for different situations.
How England perform next Summer is the most important thing now everything else is just steps along the way.

10th October 2017 at 10:40 am #5932Here we go again, the media now saying Winks is a new Iniesta…what do they feed these fools on? I feel sorry for the lad now the media are building him up this way, he is a talent but could well be destroyed before he starts.
