Just heard on SSN that Colin Bell has passed away, age only 74.
He was my favourite City player when I was growing up. An absolute Rolls Royce of a player – great passer, good on the ball, good in the air, fabulous vision, unbelievable engine and got his fair share of goals.
A sad night in our household.
RIP King Colin._____________________________

5th January 2021 at 9:48 pm #173338R.I.P Colin Bell, a fantastic player who made the game look easy, and scored one of the best volleys I’ve ever seen .

5th January 2021 at 10:11 pm #173340Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Colin Bell and all the City lads on here.
Legend a too often used description of a player but in respect of Colin Bell that is exactly what he was.
As gj rightly says a true Rolls Royce of a player who I count myself very fortunate to have seen play in the flesh.

6th January 2021 at 12:05 am #173341Just wanted to express my sadness at the loss of my favourite City player, and obviously a favourite of so many City watchers. A lot has already been written here and elsewhere tonight about his prodigious ability, but a particularly special performance for me was in the 3-1 defeat of Utd in late March 1968 which Colin completely dominated prior to being stretchered off. The result was an important piece in the jigsaw that eventually became the League Championship for that fabulous City side. I think watching the game in the Stretford End made this game and performance particularly memorable for me.
Farewell King Colin, but you will never be forgotten.

6th January 2021 at 9:37 am #173353A majestic player, world class in my eyes. It was particularly sad for me because one of my sons bought me a framed signed shirt, captains armband and photo of Colin because he knew he was a favourite of mine. I watched his progress from the time he was a Bury player and giving City the run around at a young age at Maine Rd. I was over the Blue moon when Joe Mercer signed him, RiP Colin and thank you for wonderful football moments

What more can I say. Great moments. I have never forgiven Martin Buchan.

6th January 2021 at 10:59 am #173362Adlab…I am the same…..you do not expect people you know who are younger to die before you. I have a photograph of three of my friends with myself as a foursome at a golf competition, all younger, all gone and it appears like yesterday when we were walking down the fairway. Thats life
