15th March 2019 at 6:45 pm #35877You can never say never especially with Harry Kane in the team but across two legs I would be surprised if City don’t prove too strong for Spurs.
City wont come into contact with Liverpool until the Final anyway assuming City beat Spurs and then probably Juventus and Liverpool have to navigate their way past United or Barcelona before that could happen too.

15th March 2019 at 9:47 pm #35897I think itβs been a great draw, keeps the favourites apart (for the moment), and some fascinating battles ahead.
My general rule of thumb that dictates the success and ultimately the winners of the CL, are the teams that not only have many special players, but also the one with real leaders and togetherness.
Thatβs why I struggle to see many past Juve, as they tick all those boxes and as Ed alluded to, Ronaldo is like adding two world class matchwinners to your team.
It would be great to see Ronaldo and Messi square off in the final (assuming Liverpool donβt make it).

15th March 2019 at 10:05 pm #35899Mikus, you’re right. The ‘pest’ is now lingering in Juventus. Used to have their T’Shirt.
Used to actually like European Teams, generally.
How times change.

15th March 2019 at 10:31 pm #35900Mak, yeah I must admit I don’t like the double draw at this stage but both the CL and the EL have been drawn for the Semis too. Cheers 999

Honestly though, I’ve no problem with them drawing both.
Mikus, a very good point regards Juve. they’ve got that x factor now with Ronaldo and if do manage to face them, it’ll take us at our very best to get the better of them. The fact that we’d have to beat them in the final is what worries me most. I’m pretty confident that this Liverpool side can beat most teams over 2 legs. That kind of structure tends to favour teams who can hit teams on the break.
You have to say that the semi draw is great for the competition though alright. As Mikus said above, it keeps the main contenders apart. I won’t be too quick to rule out the likes of Spurs against City. They are having a poor time of it in the PL ATM but form comes and goes.

Above is the UEFA link Mak.
You’re right anything can happen in a Cup competition and I wouldn’t totally rule out Spurs going through although it might be easier in a one off game but across two legs v City I think Spurs would need a lot of things to go for them to make the Semis.
Some mouthwatering clashes to come and an excellent Qtr Final draw for Liverpool which they won’t find too taxing which is a plus in the race for the title.

16th March 2019 at 8:59 am #35908Itβs a good draw for Liverpool but I really wouldnβt under estimate Porto or any day for the rest of the season.
I think utd can take Barca. Some good ties to look forward to

16th March 2019 at 2:46 pm #35916But I would love a Spurs-Ajax/Porto final, just to piss of those who automatically assume that Juve-Barca will walk to the final.Otherwise Liverpool & City can easy stop Barca-who are not so special anymore, and Juve too!

16th March 2019 at 2:54 pm #35918Do people think Juve-Barca will walk to the Final? I’m not sure they do Mav. Very difficult to predict who will make the Final at this stage imo.

16th March 2019 at 3:14 pm #3592027-Agreed completely, and apart from Porto-the rest are all capable of beating any other team, especially I wouldnt underestimate this Ajax team.Watch them dispose of Real Madrid with such an ease,it was a pleasure to watch!

16th March 2019 at 3:21 pm #35921Mav, if Ajax hit those Real away heights again I wouldn’t disagree. I can’t see Porto being too problematical for Liverpool that was the draw everyone else wanted in the CL.
The Semi Finals could be something special. I think the CL draw and the April fixtures are looking better for Liverpool than they are for City in the race for the title.
