The Europa is mainly for teams that have not succeeded either in the CL or their own domestic league.

Very nice draw for all 3 PL sides. Expect all 3 to progress with Liverpool maybe the biggest question mark, if any. City have had a very nice draw again. Chelsea with an nice draw but had a tough draw in the last round.

Europa league is still a big trophy adlab and be a great trophy for utd to win

Firm favourites for it now. Great result last night and pogba has done well last few months so he’s a massive player to get back

Credit wete ctedut is due. While Utd back line has been excellent especially maguire and shaw

Hopefully Liverpool can’t play their home tie at anfield 😂

Not sure I agree Sean about the Europa. Look who is left and compare with the CL. Absolutely no comparison. Nice if you win it but its like the league Cup. Nobody takes it seriously until the last rounds. Most English teams play near second string in the early matches just like in the league Cup.
United must now be outstanding favourites to win it. Who else is left apart from Arsenal?

About time you had a difficult draw if you get through to Bayern Adlab! City could basically find themselves in 2 huge semi-finals having faced the might of:

Porto
Marseille
Olympiacos
Monchengladbach
Dortmund
Cheltenham
Birmingham
Swansea
Everton

Safe to say lady luck is wearing sky blue this season!

Goes without saying the Europa League is a second rate competition Adlab but it’s such an elitist mentality to say it’s pointless. Not every club can compete financially with the biggest clubs. I don’t think CL clubs should drop down into it, but I’d be very happy if we won it, now that we’ve got his far. Will be glad to see the back of it if we get top 4 though

Totally agree. Failed CL teams dropping down does devalue the competition as suddenly some better teams get a bye into the competition. You could easily get a team like Burnley or Newcastle coming sixth after a good season having to face say Athletico Madrid who finished 3rd in the CL group.
The whole thing needs a revamp.

Gj, I deliberately didn’t include the League Cup as Adlab himself said it was pointless! I’ll give you Utd though if we’re going to include the League Cup, although you didn’t even meet us until the Semi. Arsenal are a midtable side these days

😂 I wouldn’t bet against it Steveo! Ole does have a real problem with bottling semi-finals. Would not surprise me one bit if we get past Granada then go out to Ajax/Roma.

ED…the draw is a draw, City do get to pick the team to play so why highlight it. Europa may well be waste of space but so is the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE where non CHAMPIONS play!!!! This should be a shorter contest between real Champions not also rans

I’ve always heard the saying “it’s the luck of the draw” for as long as I’ve been following football which is more years than I care to remember.😊

Any team who wins a Cup competition generally their fans are looking for the most favourable draw along the way.

There are imo no easy draws in the CL Qtr Finals arguably Dortmund may not be the strongest team left in the CL but on their day Dortmund are capable of beating anyone, if City come through v Dortmund as I expect they will they face the prospect of playing either Bayern or PSG neither of which will be easy.

From a Chelsea perspective I wanted to draw a European team in the Qtr Finals and avoid Bayern so I was happy with the draw hopefully if we are lucky enough to come through we will continue avoiding PL Clubs.😊

The old chestnut of only Champions should be playing in the CL has been tossed around for years it’s a tougher competition as it stands now because it’s harder to win the CL now than if it were just Champions playing with so many Champions from the lesser Leagues the majority cannon fodder for the Champions of the major European Leagues. The Group’s can be a bit boring but from the last 16 stage the games generally become competitive.
