No doubt Sean, but just wonder in one or two of the games we’ve had this season where we’ve dropped points we maybe should have gone for it more. Don’t get me wrong, huge credit to Klopp in adapting to a more conservative approach this season (which was clearly needed after recent seasons), but just felt at times, maybe he’d almost gone too far that way, though I think he’s probably been experimenting with the balance this season.

8th May 2019 at 6:42 pm #40416Mikus, I think you’re partly right about the high press…there probably have been times when we should have used it more, but for me, we can only do the high press really successfully when Fab is playing as the DM, and Hendo is employed further up to do the high press. When Hendo was the DM, we lost something at the high press…Gini and jimmy are not those kind of players. But Fab is an absolute rock at DM, as Mav said in an earlier post on this thread. Is there a better DM in the Prem? Kante’s not playing as one, I understand, so I can’t think of one – and to think he only came in to our team after 15 games or so. And Hendo has an unbelievable engine on him and is just superb at the high press. While he was functional as a DM, he’s proper class in his new role. I know he gets alot of stick, mostly from that self-obssessed idiot on TT, but he has really come in to his own the last couple of months and is a vital part of this team. So, Mikus, to answer your question, yes to the high press but only if those two are playing, and my guess is they will both start our remaining 2 games.
Anyway good luck to Spurs tonight, though being totally honest I would rather play Ajax in the final for a number of reasons. So I guess I’ll just hope it is as good an occasion as last night!

8th May 2019 at 8:34 pm #40422Hoping Tottenham can find their way in getting through.
Catching up with everything written from finishing work.
Fantastic Day just to live and breathe all in all knowing what was miraculously achieved yesterday evening. I’ve honestly never seen this in my life. It’s a simply ‘what if’.
For all my ‘Bravado’ and ‘what if’s’, 4-0 is something. I loathe the Barcelona Side, but acknowledge their Achievements and being a Powerforce for Years.
4-0 and not conceding ‘A’ goal is freakish. This tears my mind into sort “not so bad in Liverpool finishing Second”, and it’s like a completely new alternative of an ‘Xmas Present’, forgetting though that we’ve actually got to go through the experience in playing out the Final and securing it.
Lol, I must be near to brainwash now taking a Super Backseat for Sunday when in reality, I do of course care and still wanting that Brighton favour.
It’s a bit of an unexplainable one as it stands haha π

8th May 2019 at 8:42 pm #40425As I asked after the first leg what is Deli Alli’s contribution. Is he worth his place.
I think Liverpool can start celebrating the Champions League win. Theyll beat this Ajax team easily.

8th May 2019 at 8:52 pm #40430Adlab, I’ve wondered for a long time what the point of Dele Alli is. I just don’t get the hype about him. Way out of his depth at this level

8th May 2019 at 8:55 pm #40431Can’t see it Sean tbh although if Spurs were to score very early in the second half that would cause a bit of anxiety to Ajax.
Fabulous Stadium .

8th May 2019 at 9:08 pm #40432Ed, could to some degree be because of him being able to play for England.
I have noticed the accentuation for a long time, though some genuinely merited in quality you cannot dismiss on Dele Alli, but truly get your point. That and my point backed with the example of Nathan Dyer.
It’s sort of a can of worms in which the FA are point blank weak to admit and say in public; there’s just not that many quality English Players noticed to be given an opportunity to represent their National Team.
Foreign Players largely make up the Big Clubs; in fairness. So as far as English Players go, not a lot to Shout-Out-About. Nobody really that front hitting the heights.

8th May 2019 at 9:10 pm #40433Nil, Alli looked a decent enough player when he first came through but after all the doing the adverts and stuff, he seemed to start believing his own hype as many a young England hope before him
