Sean, I agree mate both are good teams and would make worthy opponents but I think it would be a tad easier Liverpool playing Ajax.
Let’s see what tonight brings.
Hell of a turnaround last night though mate, two CL Finals in consecutive seasons is a real achievement.

8th May 2019 at 2:03 pm #40379AnonymousDon’t take this the wrong way but I kinda wish we didnt have to play anyone after this. Not for any negative reasons, I just feel like last night’s comeback felt like a finale to me. Of course we’ve got to take on whoever wins the next game and it won’t be at Anfield.
I just hope that this incredible hurdle doesn’t knock us off our stride. You could be forgiven for having a bit of a come-down after that.

8th May 2019 at 2:14 pm #40382AnonymousMav I hate to tell you chap but that is a young David Bowie π Well spotted I guess, cause it’s not a typical one of him really. I’m way more Irish looking than that though but nah I live in Cork (nowhere near Dublin) I’m afraid.

8th May 2019 at 3:27 pm #40404Mak, the way I look at it is, this time yday league and cl was over.
There was no chance of a trophy. Now there is. We can relax now knowing we have a huge opportunity to st least have a chance of a big trophy.
Now Sunday doesnβt seem near as bad. City will win the league but at least our season is not over
Enjoy the moment. More is being made out of this as it was a great vine bs k. Tomorrow everything will have calmed down and we can relax and wait for the final

8th May 2019 at 3:44 pm #40405So where do I start? My apologies to all the non-Liverpool lads on here because I’m sure you’re getting sick of it all by now, but I’ve just got to put down my thoughts on last night.
That result last night, Sean and Oz, is why you should never, never give up on this team. They proved last night that they don’t know when they are beaten, and it is far and away the best Liverpool side since 1987 and before that 1978/9. The problem that has been raised time and again is that we are up against another side who are one of the best ever in City. But last night summed up our club…we don’t give up and when the chips are lined up against us, we just kick back harder. Against Roma in the final on their home ground, we won, against Olympiakos with 45 minutes to play and needing 3 goals, we won. Against Milan 3 down at half time we won. Against West Ham in the FA Cup Final in ’06 a goal down in to injury time, we won. Against Dortmund needing a goal with seconds to go, we won, and then obviously last night, the gretaest of all, against all odds, we won bossing probably 75% of the tie. Sure, we’ve cocked it up on occasions, but it is so wrong to say we always do or we’re cursed or any shit like that. Last night proves we are a special team and a special club.

8th May 2019 at 4:36 pm #40407All the best to Spurs tonight TBA. Bit of an odd thing Poch said about maybe leaving if he wins the CL. Poch to Barca if that were to happen? Wouldn’t write it off.

8th May 2019 at 4:38 pm #40408Hightown, good read mate.
Amazing result seemingly built on Klopp juice.
I’m not sure anyone else would have pulled that off. I think you will probably go on and win it now.
Hope you get a ticket and get to Madrid and we get to play each other in the European Super Cup. π Cheers 999

8th May 2019 at 4:39 pm #40409It was odd Ed wasn’t it. I do think Spurs can get through who scores first might be crucial.

8th May 2019 at 5:01 pm #40410AnonymousEd & 9 I think once again Poch has shot himself in the foot. He always rambles and says things that make you go “Hold On ” did he just say that, we are used to it and I’m not overly concerned. It’s a tough night for Spurs they got it wrong in the 1st leg and must score first. If he sets them up right we might have a chance , Liverpool set the bar high last night and I do wonder if Spuyrs have that kind of performance in them.

8th May 2019 at 5:01 pm #40411So the match itself…
The early goal was key, and we got it by high pressing again. The saves by Allison made my assertion on here a few weeks ago that he was overrated look very foolish. It was somehow apt that our keeper was largely responsible for last night’s success when looked at the events in Kiev with Karius. The standout performers for me were Allison, Trent, Matip, Hendo, Gini, Fab and Mane, but all of them showed a desire to fight for the cause, run till their legs dropped off, and the crowd was just magnificent. It eas a truly special night if you are a Liverpool fan, and for me, it beats Istanbul…for a couple of reasons. One, we were at our own home with the special atmosphere that generates. Two, we were up against a better team last night than Milan were in 2005. Three, we played far, far better than we did in 2005 where we good for about 6 minutes!! Four, we were up against the best player in the world (because that was what everyone was saying last week, so they can’t change that now by saying he’s too old etc…if he wasn’t last week, he ain’t now!). Five, the two ex-Liverpool players in the Barca ranks added to the occasion…Coutinho looked frankly terrified and Suarez was just the perfect villain of the piece! And we did it all without 2 of our very best players with another going off at half time. Imagine if we’d been at full strength!
Trent’s thinking for the corner for the fourth was just unbelievable. A 20 year old lad who hasn’t played anywhere near 100 games, the quick thinking and accuracy was amazing. Origi, bless him, not the most talented player in the world, a player we tried to offload last summer scores 2 goals in a Champions League semi final. He must think he’s dreaming!
So Sean and Oz, don’t give up on Sunday. 89th minute and we’re drawing and City are winning, I still won’t give up and nor will anyone else in the ground. This team have well and truly earned some faith from you lads!!

8th May 2019 at 5:54 pm #40412HH, I wonder if we should have pressed a bit more in some games this season. It is one of our main strengths, and most of our best performances have come when we’ve pressed high – PSG at home just another example.
I think the timing of the goals last night were perfect – an early goal to get the crowd really excited and getting Barca rattled early on, not conceding before HT, and then two quick goals around the hour mark before we started to get tired and frustrated. I think we all expected Extra Time, but that last goal was just the icing on the cake. I didn’t even celebrate it at first as I was convinced the ref was going to blow for taking it too early or thinking it might be offside.
As regards no Salah & Firmino, part of me wondered today whether their absence actually contributed to our extra determination & togetherness last night. I’ve never seen a better team performance than that.
As for Origi, he keeps scoring in big games and finding himself in the right place at the right time. That is not something to be overlooked, regardless of any question marks that lie over other parts of his game.

8th May 2019 at 5:59 pm #40413Hightown, good post. I didnβt give up on the team when it came to the league. I said we would win all our games but so would city . Thatβs not giving up on the team
Last night was a little miracle. Not many believed. Iβve been very positive about us this season.
Terrific scenes. Absolutely delighted we are in the final and Iβll be very relaxed about Sunday.

8th May 2019 at 6:03 pm #40414Mikus, maybe thatβs why we have more energy now. We have only really upped the press in last month or so. We were very conservative earlier in the season
We looked fresh last night while sat we looked shattered.
Get Sunday out of the way then relax for 3 weeks
Any word on firmino ? Is he out of the final?
