Liverpool are the Andy Murray of football. At the absolute peak of their powers and supremely talented but just unlucky to have peaked in an era where 2 other supreme talents were even better (Messi & Barca/City = Federer/Djokovic)

2nd May 2019 at 7:44 pm #39671Look at the Fabinho incident front on it’s a clear block by Fabinho and Liverpool certainly weren’t robbed all of Barca’s goals were good goals not one pundit of one area of the media have queried any incidents or the Barca goals.
The scoreline flattered Barca but the rest is just sour grapes!

2nd May 2019 at 7:47 pm #39675Hazard doesn’t start and some wonder why Chelsea fans question Sarri. Sarri badly needs to have got it right.

2nd May 2019 at 7:57 pm #39677So Messi’s left arm just magically raises up in the air and takes a swing in the direction of Fabinho’s face.
Nothing to do with Sour Grapes – just want to get to the truth.

2nd May 2019 at 9:13 pm #39681Nine, you’ve just pinned up something provocative and seemingly you’re making a mockery, after asking me to ‘move on’ to something I responded on the back of somebody themselves pasting footage.
I’m wasting my time I think with this silliness and it’s not as if I’ve find a decent fair and honest answer.

2nd May 2019 at 9:45 pm #39682Mr. Balance, my opinion on the incident in question is that Fabinho did step across Messi, Messi tried to jump round him and in order to do that the arm goes up in a natural action to keep balance, unfortunately his arm does contact Fabinho…..Pagan

2nd May 2019 at 9:55 pm #39683One all is a decent result for Chelsea in a difficult Stadium that was bouncing but it should really have been better. Back to the Bridge though in the driving seat but it still has to be won.
Great result for Arsenal save the away goal.

3rd May 2019 at 5:00 am #39687AnonymousI’m surprised we’re even given 20/1.
I’ll weigh in on the Messi thing. I’m with the other regards that it’s mostly a natural movement, with the slight possibility that he’s maybe had a poke at him for blocking him. I didn’t see this at the time, I’m honestly not that interested in it though but I will say that to judge something that happened in such a quick moment, you’d need several camera angles as it’s easy to make something look malicious from a single angle.
As for Liverpool going forward, I see that the Barca manager is coming out saying Liverpool have a chance to stage a comeback. Standard manager talk really. I will watch the return leg, not because I believe we’ve a chance but just for fair there is a miracle. Ever since the final whistle went, I’ve just known that we’re out. That hasn’t changed and honestly, it’s still very disappointing. Not just to go out but because of what I said before, this game was a kinda acid test for this club and where it is now.
I think the results are skewed and we’ve the Anfield tie to level it up as much as we can. I hope we at least beat them in that leg.
Ed, you’re right about the Andy Murray thing and you’re also wrong. It’s a solid analogy, I’d just add that I really don’t believe we’ve peaked. year on year we’ve improved under Klopp. it’ll be hard to improve further but you can still see where there is room for improvement and I’m not talking about the silly discussions regards how we have got to change our style (sorry Adlab :P) after one loss.
I think the signings that we need become fewer but also more specialized. So it’s good in one sense but it’s a huge problem in another. However, the talent is out there and Klopp and his staff seem to be really good at finding and then acquiring such talent, so I’ve full faith in them to take us another step forward this summer. Like Keita and fabinho, we coudl be looking at a lengthy settling in time but that’s football. If it were all fair and dandy, we wouldn’t bother with it.
Nil, accept that we’re out of the CL mate and thank the stars that we’re good enough and lucky enough to have a title race to settle back into. I don’t care if half our fans wanna tell me we’ve absolutely no chance, I’m not hearing it. We can take City to the final game of the season, I doubt Barca would be capable of living life in our PL. They’d be kicked off the park.
If you want something to focus on then let it be us reclaiming some pride in the return leg.

3rd May 2019 at 7:09 am #39691“Steveo (2nd May 2019 at 11:54 am), thatβs just inflammatory. Youβve spoken about us as if weβre all throwing our toys out of the pram. How about you speak to people by name instead of tarring us all in sour grapes?
Nine, youβve liked his comment tooβ¦ hardly appropriate. ”Mak, my humble apologies Sir, i was certainly not meant to be a generalisation just after reaqding posts from here and on your TT page it would be easier and quicker to post names of those that arent than are!
it is very polarised still
didnt ment to cause offence, ive found yours and a few others views refreshing compared to the larger majority

3rd May 2019 at 8:00 am #39697AnonymousIt was a very tough loss to accept, for many reasons. I can understand the strong reactions. Many people would have had higher hopes for the CL than the PL and when they see their team doing so well, to end the season without a trophy would leave a bitter taste in their mouths.
The only way to look at this season and not feel some kind of sense of injustice, is to realise that 1) We’re the lucky ones (as I went into previously) and 2) We’re not the finished article yet. There’s definitely more runway here before we take off. That for me is the scariest thing. We’re heading for 95+ points this season and we are likely to get better again. I say that in terms of quality and not points tally. I can see us getting fewer points next season… but I’ve gone into this previously too.
NP anyway Steveo, it’s not like you were entirely wrong in what you said, i’d even say that you might have been serving a bit of food for thought.. It’s just that people need time after such a huge disappointment. I would bet that those who were upset would be more receptive to proper reflection, now.
The funny thing is, I actually wonder what was more disappointing, last season’s CL final and how that went (LOL) and Wednesdays’s match again Barca. The fact that they are even comparable in my mind might communicate just how much of a hammer blow it was. The CL final was just awful and definitely a worse experience on the whole but this result versus Barca, a little unjust of not, carries a bit of a wake-up call for us. Are we not quite where we thought we were? It’s just one match, so it might be too much to ask that but the thought persists, regardless and that can be a powerful de-motivational factor.
We’ve reset now, hopefully and it’s back to business. Let’s go beat Newcastle and see what City are made of.

3rd May 2019 at 8:07 am #39698Stevo, not counting any chickens for either of us but imagine tens of thousands of Arsenal and Chelsea fans travelling alongside each othe to Baku many of them ticket less. It’s potentially a recipe for disaster.

3rd May 2019 at 8:11 am #39699999 IF it happens at all then i think it will largely be a good thing, maybe the odd flair up but that would happen regardless, might find that its quite a good experience of both sets of fans travelling together to such far parts of the world
