How many times this season have Liverpool just not been clinical enough? Vs Arsenal away, vs Chelsea away, vs Man Utd away, vs Everton away. In many of the CL group games. Thereβs a problem there. It needs addressing in the summer.

1st May 2019 at 10:03 pm #39480Could of been 4, should of been 3-1. Wonder how big a miss that triple chance, and especially Salah against the post, was?
Funny game thought we were the better team for most of the match. They got very lucky with the second and a world class free kick for the third. A big ask for the return leg but you never know.

1st May 2019 at 10:07 pm #39483Could have been 4? How many chances did we have?
We Missed far to many chances. We have them
A real game. Scoreline flatters themDonβt think English teams are to far off Ed.

1st May 2019 at 10:07 pm #39484How does it need addressing? Drop Salah? Drop Mane? Firmino? Ever think if we do that we would probably be more clinical but create far fewer chances and therefore score less.
Theres also been times when we’ve been incredibly clinical this season. No one can be like that all the time, unless you’re Messi or Ronaldo, but they are very much the exception.

1st May 2019 at 10:07 pm #39485AnonymousNil, don’t go on a crusade please.
Anyway, I guess we can rest players in the return leg. Forget Istanbul, it’s over.

1st May 2019 at 10:08 pm #39486Reckon Pool were lucky to only have three put past them, Barca had a couple of very decent breakaways towards the end there…
Looking like a Barca vs Ajax final, Gnasher gets to face another of his former teams… hope he loves them too!! π

1st May 2019 at 10:09 pm #39487It looked like Barca had settled for 1-0 and we’re concerned about conceding but then suddenly Messi took over.
The substitutions by Valverde early on worked well for Barca they were looking too open down Liverpool’s left hand side.

1st May 2019 at 10:09 pm #39488This is far from vintage Barca but there is just an air of inevitability with Messi in that side. You take him out and, average is probably a bit harsh, but they’re not outstanding. This would be the worst Barca side to win the tournament that I can remember by some distance.

1st May 2019 at 10:11 pm #39490Threeps, more goals from midfield for a start. And whilst Salah & Mane have bagged a lot of goals this season, in the big big games, we’ve come up short this season. Which tells me we’re missing something.

1st May 2019 at 10:16 pm #39492No far from it Chucky. I fancy either Spurs or Ajax to give them a decent game. I just mean if they do win it, they’d be the poorest of the Barca sides I’ve seen win it

1st May 2019 at 10:17 pm #39493Mak, without sounding a complete defeatist, we’re not too far away from that season once again in ‘collecting’ nothing.
Why always us?
We come close for how many seasons now? And then it blows up in our face.
It’s horrible π We’ve lost.

1st May 2019 at 10:20 pm #39495Mikus you mention 4 games where we drew. If we were more clinical and won those games we’d be 8 points better off. Let’s assume we win our next two games, that would put us at 105 points. Is that a realistic expectation these days? Teams draw, teams loseit happens. Even great ones. Why not celebrate the team that has done better then any other Liverpool side ever? To me it’s very harsh to say we are missing something.
I’m a firm believer if you put an out an out clinical striker like Kane in this liverpool side he’d be top scorer but as a team we wouldn’t score as many.

1st May 2019 at 10:21 pm #39496AnonymousAye, it is painful being a Liverpool supporter but we’ve watched our side win a lot of trophies in the past too. Many teams don’t win anything, or ever really look like they might even challenge.
I’m absolutely gutted now. I didn’t expect to see us our of the tournament after playing “so well”. Like, was I watching another game? i thought we did ok, under the circumstances. Mistakes were made but I don;t think we deserved to be out already. And I don’t wanna hear about fucking Istanbul. That was a freak situation that won’t ever repeat itself again.

1st May 2019 at 10:25 pm #39497Now’s not the time to be too down Liverpool have had a fantastic season whatever happens over the next 3/4 matches. Barca looked like they settled for 1 nil and trying to keep a clean sheet and then Messi stepped up and did what he’s done countless times before. Top response from Klopp to that defeat.

1st May 2019 at 10:26 pm #39498AnonymousIm actually with threeps here with some of this. I’m kinda on both sides really but not quite on the fence as it might seem.
We need a better option after the front 3. We can’t rely on them being fit and available all the time. I mean, we’ve been EXTREMELY lucky with them when it comes to fitness. Firmino gets injured and we have a midfielder as a centre forward. That’s what’s not good enough here, not that we need to go adding harry Kane cause you’re right. You put him in there and other things start to not work. If you have better backup for what works though, you’re getting a little bit of the best of both worlds.
It hurt not having trent in there also. I must be taking crazy pills though because seemingly nobody agrees that he should have been brought on.

1st May 2019 at 10:27 pm #39499Threeps, if that’s where the bar is to win the big prizes, that’s where the bar is (though such high points totals have to be put in context of a weak Premier league this season). Of course one can take the view we’ve still been very good this season. And we have been. But if there’s no prizes won come the end of the season, then by definition, we lack something our competitors have, however harsh that might be.
