Mav, what’s with the ffs and how old are you’s Ed and 999? very unlike you mate and totally uneccesarry!
SAF was the best Manager the PL has ever seen and he wasn’t opposed to spending a bob or two either yet in 25 years at United he managed to win the CL twice and both of those were quite fortunate too.
Contes spend in his first season was circa £118m gross the big spend was in his second season when he had to replace Costa with Morata and his net spend across his two seasons was just under £100m net.

19th April 2019 at 5:05 pm #38150Conte is a great Coach but a poor Manager as he proved at both Juve and Chelsea with all the problems he created at both Club’s.

19th April 2019 at 5:17 pm #38151Ed-Of course A.Ferguson was a failure in the CL,we all know that! He said it himself as much,he should have won a few more CL titles. He was a domestic bully!

19th April 2019 at 5:20 pm #381529-Yes he was,AF was a failure in the CL-A BIG ONE!
FFS was because I did mention that we are only judging Pep since he left Barca, namely @ Bayern and City._____________________________

19th April 2019 at 5:27 pm #38154Changing the subject a bit here but I’m sat in a bar in Stockholm and the Swedish league is on the screens. I don’t usually pay attention but just recognised a face. It’s only Ravel Morrison. Turns out he’s signed for Östersund who did so well in the EL last season. What a fall from grace for him!

19th April 2019 at 5:34 pm #38155I think we could all agree that Pep’s record in the CL since he left Barca has been disappointing I suspect even Pep would agree that.
But winning the CL is not an easy task when United were totally dominant in the PL had Ronaldo and Rooney two of the best players in the world and the best Manager in football at the time they could only win the CL once.

19th April 2019 at 6:44 pm #38156United and Ferguson were domestic bullies, one of the biggest reasons I hate seeing teams dominate their domestic leagues!
R.Morrison? Was he not playing his trade in Italy for Lacio???_____________________________

19th April 2019 at 7:18 pm #38161City should still rue this opportunity lost. The competition in the CL this season, and arguably last season, has been declining. The Madrid clubs aren’t what they were, Barca aren’t at the level they’ve been at, Italy’s clubs continue to struggle, as do the German clubs, and PSG look as far away from the CL as they’ve ever been no matter how often they get hyped up.
As for the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd taking a long time to win it, I do think the competition was stronger back then.

19th April 2019 at 7:23 pm #38163Saf was very lucky in his 2 CL wins. Against Bayern they were only in the game for about 10 minutes when they scored both goals and against Chelsea Terry slipped for what would have been the winning penalty, still don’t know why he took it.

19th April 2019 at 7:56 pm #38164This is my last post, once things get personal I am really not interested anymore.
I wish all you fans the best of luck for the rest of the season and into next. I have tried to keep a civil and fair minded approach to the forum but I think I am wateing my time. Cheers to all and enjoy the game_____________________________

19th April 2019 at 8:53 pm #38165Brian, please don’t do that you are a true beacon of light on this forum and it would be a far far poorer place without you
The last few days on this site haven’t been how they should have been almost from the final whistle at the Etihad people need to look at themselves and ask themselves why they chose to follow this path of seemingly wanting to kick City when they are down.
If a poster like Brian feels the way he currently feels something is very very wrong.
I hope the Ed can appeal to Brian off site to change his mind because if he is not succesful in
doing that this site has lost a very valuable part of itself!_____________________________

19th April 2019 at 8:57 pm #38166Really hope that’s not the case Brian. It’s a pleasure to read your posts on here and I can only hope that you reconsider

19th April 2019 at 9:06 pm #38167Why Brian? I would echo Eds and 99o posts. We want you here. Mav is having a laugh but it’s not personal. I would appeal to you, don’t throw your dummy out. Most on here have sympathised with City for the way they went out, if not for the actual fact that they went out. Come on, you’re better than this!

19th April 2019 at 9:20 pm #38168Have a re-think Bri. Your posts are always unbiased, subjective and a good read. Us Blues have already lost Jim and I can’t post as much as I’d like – heavy work, social and family commitments.
Not sure what Mav’s on but it’s very out of character – my motto is “never let the bastards get you down”._____________________________

19th April 2019 at 9:31 pm #38169Spot on gj! You don’t want us Scouser’s dominating the site. Your contributions are valued, particularly as you’re the only one whof is actually older than me, I think!!

19th April 2019 at 10:04 pm #38176Well Brian definitely is, i don;t know about you. 1962, and I feel every year of it, but even if you are older ( and wiser) tahn me, we still need and want Brian contributing here cos he’s older and wiser than both of us! I loved his stories of going to Maine Road in the 50’s. My first game was April 3rd 1970 so effectively he is 2 decades ahead of me!!

19th April 2019 at 10:11 pm #38179I have to say reading all this, I don’t live here, and glad. Same replies from same people (seemingly by every minute of the day!) overtaking other people’s viewpoints to make theirs wrong. And that shouldn’t be the case.
Pep is a threat to me from a Liverpool point of view, but he’s essentially in a job to deliver, that is it. He’s doing a Job.
Off-course on ‘Match Day’ I am going to hope for the best in Rivals/Competitors slipping up and not winning, so what? That’s not to rub in anyone’s nose by nature.
There’s just really hardly any Premier League Games to get worked up about.
