Just don’t think they will drop points lads
Hop fully I’m wrong but I’m certain they will win their next two games going by what I’ve seen of them recently
They approached spurs 1st game all wrong

18th April 2019 at 5:00 pm #38046I won’t be watching cities again this season
It’s to frustrating waiting for them to drop points then they coast through games but it’s just my opinion

18th April 2019 at 5:03 pm #38047Just relax and see what transpires, as I have said before the team that wins it will be the best team….end of story. All the permutaions are pure guesswork and full of “ifs and buts”. City or Liverpool will be worthy winners anyhow. Pep and Mr Klopp are both winners, they will continue to be rivals for the next 2/3 seasons I am sure

18th April 2019 at 5:04 pm #38048Mak, Pep hasn’t spent £1billion at City it’s circa half that spent at City still a lot of money though.
It’s all about opinions but Pep is definitely not destroying the PL or a failure imo he’s set the bar higher than it’s ever been set in terms of the PL title and his team has played some scintillating football during his tenure and are a joy to watch as are Liverpool when they are firing on all cylinders.

18th April 2019 at 6:14 pm #38052To win the CL, you need both a top manager and really top characters. City have some amazing players but I do think they lack these leaders which is why I never fancied them for the CL.

18th April 2019 at 6:39 pm #38054Mav, seriously mate if Pep’s a failure where does that leave every other Manager in the PL his team has played incredible football over the last two seasons and his team have broken almost every PL record last season.
It took Chelsea 7 years to win the CL and then the team that eventually won it wasn’t the best Chelsea team in that period it’s not an easy trophy to win and it comes down to fine margins just as it did last night.

18th April 2019 at 6:58 pm #38055Mikus, you don’t win the PL title breaking every record going along the way without characters in the team all of this no characters Pep’s a failure doesn’t feel right to me City won the game but lost the tie on very very small margins.

18th April 2019 at 7:19 pm #38056We lucky to have Pep in the Premier league, the guy has what it takes, he has had his fair share of bad luck in the CL such as last night. Ferguson rated as one of the best ever also only won 2 CL in his length management period and in both finals was extremely lucky.

18th April 2019 at 7:39 pm #3805827-What would you call a manager that spends so much, without winning any trophies? So by that token,Pep is expected to win titles-but unless he wins the CL he will be a failure! You dont expect Emery or M.Silva to win the CL,do you? How much has he spent even on squad players? What happened to £42.5m spent on Mangala, £37.5m on Otamendi,£60m on Mahrez, and so many others???

18th April 2019 at 7:42 pm #380619-And yes,he is perceived as a failure in Germany, and especially by Bayern Munich fans,of which I have quite a few friends.

18th April 2019 at 7:47 pm #38063Mav…Pep did not buy Mangala and probably others you have in your inflated figure. How much have others spent, then take the difference, over the same period, then again historicaly a few clubs have been spending huge amounts for years. This is all not relevant to your point though because without question Pep is a good manager, one of the best, his record also confirms that. Spending, he will spend what he thinks is right, he could have out bid for a few players who have gone elsewhere but now struggle…he knows where the value is. He will make mistakes, nobody is perfect but he will not be a failure either

18th April 2019 at 7:58 pm #38065Mav, how have Bayern done in the CL since he left and he didn’t buy either of Mangala or Otamendi.
You’re entitled to your opinion mate but you’ll never convince me Pep is a failure based on what he’s won and the football his team’s have played he’s anything but imo. Let’s leave it there now though and agree to disagree.?

18th April 2019 at 8:09 pm #380679-He didnt buy them but went on to spend £110m on Stones and Laporte.Surely you are not expecting Pep to go empty handed every season, considering the amount of money spent on players? When I mentione Bayern Munchen,I was referring to the time Pep was the manager there-they indeed expected him to do much better in the CL! Of course one would expect teams like City to play attacking, flowing football, considering players available.I m sure he will eventually win the CL-if he is allowed to spend £500m every year…

18th April 2019 at 8:38 pm #38071Nine, I’m not doing Pep down. As I said on the other thread, City are a formidable team the way Pep has set them up, and whether you try and contain them, or attack them, it will still, probably, end in a defeat for you. However, at the same time, I think his approach/tactics in certain CL games over the years, both at Bayern & City, can be questioned and in the CL, you do need to be extremely dogged and tactically strong to win it. Also, whilst City would have still won the league last year with stronger competition, these record points totals do have to be put into the context of how weak the premier league was last year, and to some extent, this year.
So Pep is undoubtedley a top coach, who gets his complicated messages across extremely well to his players, and his devastating plan A almost always works. But tactically, against the better and more attacking teams, the strategy does become more fragile and risky. Now no manager is perfect, and this is why he needs real strong characters akin to the likes of Gerrard, Terry, Puyol, Ramos, etc to get their teams over the line. City, for me, just don’t have that level of character. It was certainly close last night, and in years gone by without VAR, City would have gone through. But shouldn’t a team of City’s stature be wiping the floor against a team who are 16 points behind them in the league? And who finished 23 points behind them last season? They should have wiped the floor against Liverpool last season. But they didn’t. Almost the opposite. It’s perfectly legitimate to start asking why that is.

18th April 2019 at 8:38 pm #38072Mav, “I’m sure he will eventually win the CL-if he is allowed to spend £500m every year”. Except Pep’s spend is £500m over his entire tenure at City.

18th April 2019 at 8:48 pm #38073Mikus, “Gerrard, Terry, Puyol, Ramos,” rare breeds mate and how much would they cost in their prime in the current market.
As I said last night and again today and without wishing to take anything away from Spurs performance last night I think Pep got his tactics and his team selections wrong in both legs of the Qtr Final v Spurs so he’s definitely not infallible and there are definitely areas that City could do with strengthening going forwards.
But let’s not forget had it not been for an Aguero penalty miss in the first leg City would be in the Semi Finals and on such things big European ties turn.
