6th February 2023 at 3:07 pm #203920Adders… I’m no legal beagle (obviously!) but surely withholding evidence when you’re charged with “withholding evidence” is a bit of a backward move? I really don’t see how anything other than 100% cooperation can occur here.
I’m sure you’ve already been asked this, Adders, but what is your honest opinion about the emails that we’ve all read and your theory on how they can be “taken out of context”?
To be honest, I really don’t understand how City can claim any level of innocence.

6th February 2023 at 4:54 pm #203926Chuck. Truthfully of course I haven’t seen them but from experience any written evidence has to be looked at in contexts. No one letter or email can be sufficient particularly if it was not sent by a responsible official.
I have looked again at the allegations in contexts of EPL rules. My gut feeling is that we have not done everything as openly as it should and there maybe a case but not major. To apply retrospection is notoriously difficult and remember this is not a legal action. I also think the EPL rules are open to scrutiny..y guess an admonishment, warning and big fine

6th February 2023 at 5:00 pm #203927By the way, the media are helping assuming City are guilty. These are at this stage allegations. Should they not be found Collymore, Jordan, Piers Morgan et al could find themselves facing law suits for slander and liable. Always be careful what you say!!

6th February 2023 at 5:14 pm #203928Adders… suggest you go and read them, cyber chum, they are pretty damning to say the least. It’s not just one email, or one paragraph, it’s email chains with multiple City staff commenting on pretty much what they’ve been charged with (with regards to inflating sponsership deals and schemes for payment plans).
And as for allegations of slander and lawsuits, and again I’ll repeat the fact I’m no legal beagle, but I think that’s the last thing City will do… as those emials, for example, are now in the public domain, and they would be the basis of anybody’s “defense”, and subsequently be registered as “evidence” (possibly meaning even City can’t “deny” their exisitance in any other court cases) and City will actually be forced to explain how they’ve been taken out of context, ergo more evidence of the sort that they’re already charged with failing to provide… they would infact be shooting themselves in the foot by suing people for slander.
It’s the same reason why nobody has been sued with regards to the multiple salaries from multiple clubs that Mancini was being paid when he was boss back in the day. All the evidence of the accusation will have to be scrutinized in court. And that’s also pretty damning evidence.

6th February 2023 at 5:40 pm #203929Just getting my head around why this is so unprecedented. It is the Premier league bringing these charges and the PL is nothing but the sum of its parts ie the other clubs.
If the independent commission upholds the PL charges you have to wonder what the PL is planning in terms of sanctions and whether at that point if city would have any recourse.

6th February 2023 at 6:19 pm #203931The legal proceedings – which are likely to be drawn out over several months – will be overseen by Murray Rosen KC, the head of the Premier League’s Judicial Panel, who himself is an avid Arsenal fan and club member.
As head of the panel, it will be up to Rosen to decide who will join him on the commission that will ultimately decide whether Manchester City are guilty of any wrongdoing and in turn, attribute any retrospective punishment to the club.
Is this true. Surely not

6th February 2023 at 6:28 pm #203932Come on Adders, did you go to the “Donald Trump School of Deflection” or something? Teams in red? Secret Arsenal fan? Do you think these claims (whether they’re true or not!) are going to disprove (or prove for that matter!) what City have been accused of?

6th February 2023 at 6:52 pm #203933Teams in red? 😂 3rd page must be a record for Adlab to start blaming Liverpool or Utd for something completely unrelated to them.

6th February 2023 at 7:01 pm #203934The previous post is a copy of an article Chucky not my words.
This is why nothing is always as it seems.
This can just run its course in my view guilty or otherwise. But I have little faith in the objectivity of the EPL
Do you need more conspiracy????
Who is in charge now of the EPL? Might be nothing of course but…..
Brittain, who supports Manchester United, said: ‘I have been a football fan since I was a child and so am absolutely delighted to be appointed Chair of the Premier League.26 Jul 2022

6th February 2023 at 7:08 pm #203936City must be innocent then, and all those emails were fake, and Mancini never got paid by multiple clubs, and Toure’s agent never received “bounus” payments…
You finished your last post with “Who knows anything…”
I know I’ve read the emails, cyber chum, would still love for anyone to try and explian how I’ve taken them out of context…

6th February 2023 at 7:24 pm #203938I have seen some of the published emails. The content is limited.
But a small amount is not enough but we’ll see.
I don’t know neither does anyone without seeing the whole.
I can’t tell you how often in my working the need for full information not bits is so important.
Maybe full disclosure makes things worse_____________________________

6th February 2023 at 7:44 pm #203940Apparently if the committee upholds PL charges then city can appeal, but it would be to a reappointed commission chaired/selected by same person as the first.
There also talk about the timing in relation to government white paper regards suggested implementations of regulations. The government was just about to release it but delayed it following the “sudden” disclosure of charges against city today.

6th February 2023 at 8:22 pm #203943This is an investigation to assess whether City have actually broken PL rules etc what comes out of that assuming it is to City’s detriment might then get legal.
Until it all concludes then City are innocent until proven guilty and this whole thing could run for a very long time with legal appeals etc.
