City are a bit more in it now though Nil than they would have been had the gap remained at 7 points or even 10 points rather than the 4 points it is now but it’s a moving feast and there will be lots of twists and turns over the next 17 games and it’s impossible currently to predict the final outcome.
Whoever eventually wins it though will thoroughly deserve to win it over the 38 game.

4th January 2019 at 6:04 pm #30879Nil, I can only think Klopp still doesnβt completely trust Fabinho. I think in a recent game Fabinho put in a loose pass on the edge of our box which nearly put the opposition in. Henderson is unspectacular but probably more reliable in Kloppβs head so thatβs why I think he plumped for him for trust reasons. Fabinho clearly offers more, gets struck in, and offers a forward outlet too. Iβm sure it was a very marginal decision mind and he was obviously forced to bring him on anyway. The sooner he trusts both him and Keita, the better.

Ok player but not top class. One of the reasons England not quite good enough. He ought not to be close to the national side. Who is good is that Robertson guy. I know he is a fullback.
Imagine if Liverpool had one of the Silvas or a KDB?_____________________________

4th January 2019 at 6:10 pm #30881AnonymousNil – my understanding of goal line technology is that the PL uses 7 cameras, placed around the stadium (near the goal) to track the ball and uses two known fixed points (the goal posts) to calculate the third unknown point (the ball). It uses a series of mathematical formulas using triangulation to calculate (to a mm) the position of the ball.
However, this would (I assume) assume the ball is circular – which it is not when in flight for many reasons. It is also only accurate to a mm. Itβs basically accurate but has flaws.
The graphic they use is just crap though. Might as well get a small child to draw a circle and a line on a piece of paper and use that.
The offside frames really wind me up though as they are so inaccurate they should come with a warning. Anyone who watches cricket and sees the super slow mo in action when deciding if a catch was made will tell you that the frame rate required for football is much higher than what is actually used and therefore the football offside replays are not fit for purpose.
Rant over.?

4th January 2019 at 6:12 pm #30882AnonymousNil – goal line technology uses very specific angling to show whether the ball has crossed the line. It also uses sensors I believe. Birds eye view is the only way to see it. If you start looking at it from different angles then you will see it differently and it distorts what you are looking at. You have to accept it wasnβt a goal. It isnβt a matter of opinion, itβs fact.

4th January 2019 at 6:25 pm #30883Mikus,
I’m not sure hether it’s down to trust on Fabinho, but you might be right. Clearly Henderson was picked ahead of him in a conventional 4-3-3, but what looked to be then changed to a 4-3-2-1 was better suited.
Henderson frustrates me because he’s a Captain yet, hardly exerts any leadership qualities. He’s not consistently putting himself out there as a figurehead and somebody who could grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
Van Dijk for me a whole lot better. Hendo has always been more into the habit of the short sideways pass. What use is that? All that allows is time for opposition players to track back and make things difficult. He’s been at the club for a fair few years and should really be setting an example.
I do feel both Keita and Fabinho are already ahead of him, but I’m thinking maybe Klopp is trying to be careful how much he uses these players because of the number of games and maybe didn’t want to risk them picking up an injury.
Sure, Hendo has a tackle in him, but I’m afraid he’s no where in the league of Fernandino and simply does very little which away from home against Man City a game of such magnitude effectively left us short of optimum quality in midfield.

4th January 2019 at 6:31 pm #30884Haha Alfie no worries, cheers for the explanation π Was thinking about the size of the Tennis ball against the width of the markings lol. No wonder the Umpire is shouted at π
We used to play football at school using our coats and bags as Goalposts and sometimes the amount of people piling on their belongs made each Goalpost bigger, so when the ball struck it, it opened to debate the size of the posts π

4th January 2019 at 7:11 pm #30890AnonymousI’ve been saying it since he played more than 3 games for us, Robertson is (going to be considered) world class. It always takes time for players to really make a name for themselves (especially positions like LB) but more and more, the media and other fans are realizing it.
HH, disgusted to hear that but a huge percentage of football fans are scum. I know people won’t agree but it isn’t 1% of football fans making a bad name for everyone else. Well, not in these kinds of cases anyway. Hearing stuff like this really makes me lose faith in people. Not that I had much.
See the editor on planetfootball has gone completely off the rails. I only read some on my phone but the absolute battering he gave Klopp. What a ****ing idiot lol.
Lose 1 game in 20 and you’re written off! π

4th January 2019 at 7:14 pm #30891AnonymousAlfie, I think there was a game in Germany or so where the ref overruled the goal-line tech and proved to be right later. That’s not to say it was wrong here, you’re right that angles can be misleading. I won’t bother going back over it now and looking again but ya, I’m thinking that it was most likely the angle flattering it, if you get me.
It wasn’t a goal, by the finest of margins. A great clearance TBF. It won’t matter though π
(I hope!! eeeeeeek)

4th January 2019 at 7:24 pm #30895I think if the technology is properly in place and tested we have to accept it. The picture of tbe ball and the line is just a pictorial representation of the camera findings. Obviously it is not the actual ball and line.
If the system says it is not over the line AND it has been calibrated correctly and tested so be it. Even if it can calculate 1mm is not over AND that is correct then it is not a goal.
We all want the correct decision.
That would have been given without the technology and, as it turns out it would have been wrong!_____________________________

4th January 2019 at 7:33 pm #30897Blue Adders… how do you know if it would have been given? I remember a certain Mendes goal that was a bit more than 11mm over the line and that was not given… π
At the end of the day, it wasn’t given, end of story… don’t matter know one way or another.

4th January 2019 at 7:45 pm #30898Adlab, no worries mate on my part. It just got me thinking fine margins.
We’ve been blessed in all fairness so far in some ways a luck goes re Pickford and the Mahrez miss, plus the injury time Sturridge equalizer at Stamford Bridge.
Klopp mentioned yesterday in his post match conference he would have paid if offered this position. There has in recent years a developed respect between the 2 club and managers.
The challenge is not to take too much notice of the media. They’re adding Green Chillies lol

4th January 2019 at 8:02 pm #30902Chucky I agree. Not given. Accept the technology is right and thats it. It will be correct 99% of the time. Roll on VAR.

4th January 2019 at 8:31 pm #30904AnonymousSo Emery gets a small fine for kicking the bottle at the crowd, Jose got a touchline ban for the same and now Pep gets βwarnedβ about his despicable behaviour last night! Good to see the FA are taking the piss now. They have been warned that they treat Jose differently to other managers, which is clearly wrong, and they react by taking the piss! I blame David Gill ?
Surely there will come a point when someone with an ounce of integrity at the FA will demand change?

4th January 2019 at 8:36 pm #30906AnonymousI accept goal-line tech. I’m ok with the decision last night. Without it you’d have a hard time telling me that wasnt over the line.
“But is it true Mak? Is he good enough for Liverpool and England?”
there’s been a flaming war on TT over this. I am of the few who think Henderson isn’t good enough to be our Captain and a starter every match. I’m of the opinion that he’s “a good squad player”, yes I’ve used quotes for myself because it’s something I must constantly go back to when people get dramatic. Its gotten way out of hand many times.
So yes and no. he is good enough as an occasional starter and as general back-up. He’s not a bad player but there’s nothing special about him at all.

4th January 2019 at 9:17 pm #30911Jeez, just checked on the BBC retrospectively to learn Henderson was actually played the whole 90 mins – lol whaaat?! π
We’re just pedestrian with this guy not really shielding the defence nor offering support to the front 3. Anyway, that’s enough on him – just need to be thoughtful on our selection away from home against strong opposition π
